It looks like the latest Baseball Slugger update changes the name from "Baseball Slugger: Home Run Race 3D" to "Homerun Battle 3D." Does anyone know why?

And the icon... so it says "com2us:)" in it. And it's all in CAPS. Looks crap :/

I was going to say how great the graphics were and how it was the first FPS game on the iPhone to control without any problems. I was going to say how the production values are top notch (for a game that only costs 4 quid) with music, cutscenes and VA that are actually pretty decent and more importantly it is actually fun to play. But then I thought to myself: "Only nerds write big posts on the internet". Basically, I'll condense a post that never existed into "It owns".

Will make this a bump, Rolando 1 now has v1.8 out which adds Plus+ achievements and 4 new extra levels, also it's half price so now is the time to grab it.

Also need to ask again, who here actually plays Plus+ games and works on earning achievements and scores? I would like to add you to my friends list :) My ID is Diablohead.

DownToZero has an update that, based on the description:
1) changes the app NAME to "Countdown"
2) changes the icon (see above)
3) apparently the art style (which I really loved in the DownToZero days)

Has anyone here applied the update yet?These changes sound AWFUL.

If I remember, the developer was frustrated at sales, and wanted to do an experiment regarding image in the appstore with respect to name and icon.

Of course, such an experiment is futile, as it really doesn't say much about the appstore.

But if sales increase, then, sure, why not.

Yeah this was a BRILLIANT move ... /sarcasm

Based on the screenshots in the app store, the new aesthetic is SHIT, and the new name gets the app absolutely LOST as you will not find it searching for "Countdown". You must search for "Countdown - quick reflex ..." in order to find it.

Update FAIL. No way I'm updating my DTZ to this abomination.

I went to look, and right you are - impossible to search for countdown. You get a bunch of clocks. Found it under "down2zero". And you're right again, the new aesthetic is horrible.

Edit: well, the in-game wouldn't be that bad if the numbers weren't all scratched up, but in addition, the screen caps are compressed to hell. I always hate it when screen caps are compressed - is there a size limit to uploading to the Appstore or something?

yeah. I respect the dev's right to do what he wants with his app, but this just seems like a step backwards to me.

the game went from an original name, distinctive icon, and definite retro in-game look to generic on all three counts.

as I said --- will not update.

I'm not a fan of the new look - but I totally respect Hodune for doing this. One of the big sticking points between Taxiball and mainstream appeal seems to have been the pixel-art style graphics. We love the way Taxiball looks, but it's definitely crossed my mind that if we had a less polarizing art style to the game, it might have more mainstream appeal.

It's a tough line to walk, though - and I think that this experiment isn't going to pay off primarily because the new art style isn't... as attractive as I might hope. But still, mad respect to them for trying this.

What I think a lot of people aren't getting is the degree to which a game can "not sell" on the app store, even if it reaches critical acclaim. It's a very, very difficult environment to be in, and if you've got nothing to lose, you've got everything to gain by changing things up.

Had to search for that one, totally forgot about it. Found a TA thread where the dev said it was submitted yesterday. Maybe it'll come out before MMS on ATT (9/25 for that).
 
Anyone knows when the new south park will be out?

Btw, how powerful is the Iphone 3gs anyways? I bought modern combat sandstorm on my Iphone 1G and the game runs smoothly and almost looks like a PSP game, surprised me.

I wish I had known about the visual change... The update came up with 5 other apps to update, and so I just did an update all. The new look has no character. :(

I had downloaded the update but not synced across. Once I realised the mistake, I recovered the downtozero from my recycle bin, deleted countdown from my apps and manually added downtozero. All sorted and disaster avoided.
 
Unfortunatelly no, nothing close to ZooKeeper. There is Bejeweled 2 and some clones of Bejeweled and match 3 games, but nothing gets close to ZooKeeper.

I found one called Choc Choc Pop that plays like ZooKeeper/Bejeweld and was free (at least a couple weeks ago).

It uses different chocolates instead of jewels or animals. Pretty easy, but not bad. More charm than Bejeweled, but not as much as ZooKeeper.
 
Anyone know any fun and easy games for kids on the iPhone? Got my 4 year old nephew visiting me this weekend and I wanna show him a couple of games on the phone. :)

Orbital, CivREv, Real Racing. Wow.

I already have CivRev and RealRAcing, neither which I have played that often, but I can still say both titles are worth their full price.

I might crack on Orbital. Maybe. I played the flash game and wasn't blown away.

Chess with Friends ... you can play async meaning you don't have to play a game in one sitting... Chess Genius has a very good Computer AI.

Was about to buy Oribtal last night, thank you tiredness! CivRev only 2.99, glad I held off on that one too. For that price it's worth it.
 
Had both CivRev and Orbital on my Pandora and got a sweet surprise when I woke up and checked it. Snagged both.

Hmm. Just bought this for 99 cents in the Dutch store.

Liking it so far, but it's a little too hard and a little too random with ring sizes..
