Why aren't the Phoenix Wright games out on Iphone? Seems like a good fit.
You can buy them for some regular mobile phones. They sell each chapter for about £5.00 each if I recall correctly, so it works out more expensive than the DS version in total. But that's to be expected of pre-iphone mobile games.

Plaguefox interested to see what you are up to - you gonna have a website or something to show off?

We (Headcase Games) are hard at work on our 2nd iPhone title, will probably solicit for some beta testers in another week or so..

Thanks, Costanza. I appreciate it.

I'm too busy at the moment to really write it up but it's forthcoming. In the meantime I'll just say that the people I've seen asking for Elite Beat Agents gameplay on the iPhone should look forward to it. :D

POST PICS YOU SON OF A BITCH!!

I would kill kittens for an Ouendan game on the iPhone.

Bought Unify (tried one game, seems really cool but haven't really gotten the hang of it yet), Robocalypse (haven't played it yet) and iBlast Moki (OMG the music, the graphics, the gameplay, great game). There is far too much quality coming out on the App Store these days.

Still haven't touched Dexter or Monkey Island, I'll pick up Dungeon Hunter when it reappears, I'm still only on the easy levels in GD Swarm, only did a few missions in Gangstar, haven't completed Infinity Gene yet, etc. etc. etc. App Store is madness.

I really need to limit my purchases and finish some games soon, but the App Store with the low prices and accessability is too attractive.

Except it wouldn't be Ouendan. Something about its style makes it better, perhaps song choice. I loved Ouendan, I thought EBA was mediocre.

There are already these style games on the app store, such as World of Tunes, but that left a lot to be desired for me.

Word. Call it Japanophile or whatever, but the songs and scenarios made it.

I hope Auditorium comes out for the iphone.

I just lost about 40 minutes completely absorbed in geodefense swarm endless level. It's without doubt THE BEST iphone experience I've had bar none. Afterwards I felt like my brain had melted and as if I hadn't blinked for 2 hours :lol

I agree with everyone - something about Ouendan's japanophile style with hot blooded fervor really does it.

OUENDAAAAAAAAN!!!

I'm referring to the gameplay style more than the visual style; the presentation is pretty different from both Ouendan and EBA.

I'm only just now getting to bed (at a time when I should be waking up) so I'll probably be able to post some screenshots and a better explanation after I've taken the gateway drug to being awake again.

But hey, I hadn't even seen that game you posted until now. Gonna check it out!

Finally got my DTS code! Wooooooooooo! Thanks for the heads-up, Costanza, I take back everything that I muttered under my breath about you over the past couple weeks! ;)

EDIT: Wait, Secret of Monkey Island got a Lite version along with the patch? I missed that.
iTunes link

Let's tap is fucking awesome. Might just be me, though, but I'm having some difficulty with the controls - regardless of what style it seems like the sensitivity is way off

I think geoDefense Swarm might be too hard for me. I got pretty good at the first, but this one is just destroying me. I can barely complete any of the medium levels, even after 20+ attempts. Getting frustrated.

I'm thinking about picking an iPod Touch mostly to play games (I'm pretty bored with the DS and PSP, and I'm looking forward to some pick and play games).

Is it worth just for the games?

It's the ulimate ipod, don't worry about justifying the purchase.

hell no!

as much as I play my iphone games, its only because its:

a) always with me
b) always on, no booting up, loading, swapping games in/out etc
c) cheap games
d) games can be bought cheaply and quickly via 3G/WIFI.

but the games themselves are nowhere near a real games system for the most part. only a very select few would hold their own in the wider environment and then its most in similar genres - tower defense and puzzlers.

own it cos its an ipod first and foremost. the games are a bonus.

I very much agree with this.

But I suppose it depends on your mobile gaming preferences. I love my iPhone 3GS, play games on it, and it has killed my PSP gaming, but only because it's always with me. It's not an equal substitute for many types of games, obviously.

uugggnhh.....

I'm not sure.

Mine's an iPhone, so it's always on me. Furthermore, I left most of my other consoles back in my home country, so my iPhone is my primary gaming device, so it's hard to really know if it's that awesome, or I'm just biased.

I'm leaning towards yes, however. Definitely if you need an iPod, but if you want some quick casual experiences, the iPod touch is great. Why? Because of the price.

You can get bored within an hour of any 99c app, but just as easily move on to the next big thing. At any one time, you will have a large backlog of things to mess about with.

You'll find you purchase a lot more, simply because they are so easily accessible. There's no going to the store. Just click, and you have your next experience.

As you say, you want a more pick up and play experience, and the iPod touch provides that in droves. For the one $30 DS game, you can get 10-20 games that you can spend maybe 2-4 hours on each. I think that's the bigger draw over and above the actual content comparison.

I don't think it's JUST about having it on you at all times that leads it to killing other handheld uses for others - it's also about the amount of content available for it.

Of course, if you don't go for those little experiences, this may not be for you.

Also note for a gaming device on the go, the battery is appalling - 2-4 hours on one charge.

Hey, Define the Shift pulled through for me, just got my $10 code and successfully redeemed it. :D
I emailed them (for the first time) about a week ago and they responded to that directly, so I doubt they're giving them out anymore unless you specifically inquire--but it might still be worth a try emailing them it looks like, if you're still waiting.

I bought Dungeon Hunter on a whim and it's fucking beastly. I haven't stopped playing all day. It's everything that I wanted Underworlds to be, and much more. I don't play my iPod Touch as much as I used to but this game is addicting.

I LOVE IT

I wish it would be put back online. :( I will buy it when it does.

OMG, I know! I'm just glad I'm not alone... I used to not finish $60 games that frustrated me, now I don't finish .99c ones, haha.

I wouldn't recommend getting one just for games, but if you ever find yourself needing a phone or a new MP3 player it's the obvious choice.

For me, someone who spends hundreds on 360 games every month and has a DS and PSP, iPhone gaming is more than "cheap games that I play because I always have my iPhone on me." 99% of the time when I play iGames, it's at home, where all my other gaming systems are. If ever I play it when I'm out, it's usually the easily digested games like Flight Control or Doodle Jump. At home, I put time into things like Gangstar, Castle of Magic, Bionic Surfer, iMech, Eliss, Squareball, Space Invaders Infinity Gene, etc.

So in my opinion, it's actually a good gaming system. It's not "I have nothing else on me so it wins by default" but rather "I choose it over most things when I'm home." I wouldn't recommend iPhone/iPod Touch as the best gaming system over other devices, but it's more than just a "eh, you have it on you so you play some cheap games" situation. At least for me.

I say go for it, if you have some spare $ lying around. Without a doubt, there is (or will be) some kind of app in the store that will satisfy some itch or other of yours. This is an exciting scene to be part of right now, but I do caution that it is not for everyone. Old school/impulse gamers will love a lot of the short-bust titles available, many of them look aesthetically very appealing, and the prices are ridiculously low - but you also gotta be patient and not mind wading through some crap, doing research to find out what games will suit you. If you are the more "hey, Game Company, tell me what to buy!" player then you might wanna stick with Nintendo or Sony's devices.

Anyway you can buy it and probably recoup a good bit of what you spent on CL/ebay if you find it is not your thing..

Just games? Not really, but I'd say it has more and better pick-up-and-play (non hardcore) games than the PSP and DS combined.

If you are interested in a MP3 player that plays tons of games and apps then I'd recomend an iPod Touch over the Zune HD or any other device for that matter.

I would say no to getting a touch just for games unless it's super cheap.

If you have any interest in listening to music, watching movies/TV shows on the go, wi-fi web browsing, practical applications, or anything like that then absolutely.

For me games on touch is like 1/4 of the totally sweet, totally delicious pie that the iPod touch consists of.

Is Beneath A Steel Sky supposed to come out at the end of this month? Trying to figure out if I should get Flight of the Amazon Queen or wait for that...

are there any previews of FIFA 10 yet, i imagine it will hit October 1 as per the PAL release date of the big boys versions

After madden i am quite excited to see what they come up with

If the first geoDefense is anything to go by, they'll eventually patch Swarm making the difficulty more reasonable. I'm just assuming it's as hard as the first one was originally, I haven't hit any roadblocks in my time with it yet.

Thanks everyone.

The point is that I really don't need an mp3 player, 'cause I already got one, but I wouldn't mind upgrading.

On the other hand, I can't buy an iPhone (which would be the ideal solution) 'cause I'm tied to the mobile operator until sometime June next year. (Moreover, I'd like to wait until an hypothetical new version next year :P).

I find that every time I go to my brother's, I always pick his iPhone to see what new little games he's downloaded.
Thinking I could go with just an mp3 player until I can change my mobile, I was hesitating between the iPod Touch or the ZuneHD, but the last one seems is less focused on games (and not available in my region).

Argh, anyway, I still don't know what to do.

iPod touch sound silk it's for you - you already know what it offers.

That said, I believe a camera version of the iPod touch is coming. Not this year the holiday lineup is set. But possibly early next year.

It's interesting to see people's thoughts on how much they REALLY enjoy iPhone games when the question has been asked and all the chips are down.

iPhone has definitely replaced my portable gaming. I haven't turned on my DS or PSP in a good month or so. At the same time, the game quality isn't nearly up to par.

Curse you Apple! First you kill music perception, and now you're lowering the standards in gaming quality!

well, killing music perception isn't really Apple's fault, but we gotta lay the blame on the most successful group, right?

Worth a shot!

Thanks for the code. Only just got the ipod for my wife and only have "The Deep" so far (thanks to the recommendation in this thread), so this will double the number of games we have! This really looks like a game she will enjoy (and I will when she is not using it).

Weird Rolando bug - I got to about a quarter through the game and decided to check out the secret levels. Every single one of them was unlocked. I completed the first one and when I got back to the level select screen they were all locked. Then I went back to the world map and I had lost all my progress, except for the medals. I haven't played through the first level again yet but it is showing I have all three medals. So annoying.

wait till next summer, get the new iPhone. hang tight till then.

or, get the Touch now if you can't wait, then sell it when the new iPhone comes out and you're out of your current contract.

Zune HD won't have a big games market for quite some time. Right now it's very focused on media-only (which you said you don't need now). you can always pick one up later when the games are plentiful.

Don't buy a touch just for games unless you have no other mobile gamign devices.

The reason the iPhone is so handy for games is you have your phone with you anyway. A touch, like a mobile gaming system like the DS or PSP, is something you have to take with you in addition to your phone. At least it doubles as an MP3 player so it can reduce that. But if you're happy with what you have, or the Touch doesn't have enough space for you for music and games, it's not worth it.

Wait to get the iPhone and reduce the load you carry in your pockets. 99% of the games I buy sit on my computer unplayed after the first few days of buying them. Only a handful are good to keep on the phone and play. And only a handful of those I actually touch every week.

Remember 10 Balls 7 Cups? It's now sort of reborn as the officially licensed Skee-Ball. (I wasn't even aware Skee-Ball had an official license.)

It's got plus+ integration too, so if you've been dying for skeeball leaderboards and achievements, there you go.

Any more impressions of Let's Tap: Tap Runner at all from anyone who's bothered to pick it up yet?
I've put time into it. I use the touchscreen controls. It's very fun but it's variations of the race minigame over and over with new obstacles thrown in. After a while it got old but I did have fun with it and as long as you know what to expect you should enjoy it. You tap the left side to run and the right to jump, jumping over electricity or red squares. There are cool portals that give you boosts, but there's not much to it aside from tap to run and tap to jump. The music and graphics are charming. I'd give it a 3/5.

I disagree with the notion that the iPhone is inky playe because if it's convenience. Sure it IS convenient, but it not the only reason.

I only have a ds and iPhone and I play m iPhone more. This is probably just me, as I'm simply not playing more hardcore gams all that much any more. There's just so much content in the AppStore and for cheap that so that there's always something to do on your iPhone.

On the ds I'm waiting for interesting titles on a monthly or weekly basis. On the iPhone you can just grab something new nearly everyday or revisit something with an update. Sure it encourages kind of ADD attention span in gaming, but when that's. All you feel like doing, it's perfect.
