The Official Left 4 Dead Thread

I was sad to miss a playthrough with Volc, Mila, and dark tonight...I was barely too late. ;_; Does anyone want to play an advanced campaign tomorrow evening not too late? (i.e. not starting past 10 p.m. or so) I've only played No Mercy. My Steam ID is gtg222r or Blizzard, I think.

I actually went to CC today. They didn't have it at mine for some weird reason (the pc version anyway).
Best Buy probably does (I see it in stock where I live). CC is usually pretty weird when it comes to these kinds of sales anyways which is why I usually just price match.

Just got down with No Mercy, with Sallokin, and 1 or 2 other people who dropped earlier. Maybe we suck, but Normal at times were a bitch, especially the final.

GT: Lonestar 1979

Just spent a couple hours playing with friends. Multiplayer game of the decade, co-op game of the forever. And it rocks with its cock out on the 360, haters be damned.

GOTY

Just did Death Toll advanced with Puyo, JoeFu and crazy...something. So much damn fun. Me and JoeFu were the only ones alive, waiting for the others to spawn. They spawn above us, all we have to do is jump on top of a van to a balcony and walk through a short hallway to the room. Except for the boomer and asstonne of zombies in the hallway who proceed to throw up on us. JoeFu dies, I'm out of ammo and just firing off pistol rounds and swinging away. Eventually I beat my way an opening through the zombies and book it to the door where newly resurrected Puyo and friend save my ass from the zombies behind me. :D

Also, three tanks in the finale is ridiculous. Both campaigns we were just holding on for dear life at the end and just ran away from the third. :lol

Is anyone able to stay at 60 fps when the screen gets filled with angry zombies? My framerate gets halved, so I don't think my CPU isn't quite up to the task (AMD x2 4200+). Maybe there are some settings I need to tweak.

Hey gang, trying to go through the last campaign, Blood Harvest. If anyone is around and wants to do it (preferably someone who hasn't played through it yet, tis more fun that way) shoot me a message on Steam, my name is Oreoleo. I'll just be sitting here :D

i'll play no mic tho yet (getting it back tomorrow) and i've only played like ten minutes of the game so PROTECT ME. name is same as here

This part goes pretty well with the tag. Anyone playing with you is partaking in a huge responsibility. Will you knight the chosen 3 before the zombies stirke?

Some of the achievements on PC are broken. Namely, all the ones tied to beating a campaign. I've beaten the first 3 campaign, and not gotten a single of the "survive the campaign". Also, 4 of us beat the campaign with us all escaping, and only one player got the "No one left behind" achievement, while the rest of us got nothing. WTF!

Wow :D This game has boundless badassitude. All I've played so far is the rest of No Mercy and I fucking love it :P I'm waiting to play with a few close friends before I plow through the rest of the campaigns.

Do you have to beat the campaign without dying?

Son of a bitch I can't believe I got downed right in front of the chopper. I have to get through No Mercy but I won't be able to play until tomorrow. Love this fucking game though. It was great playing with you Lonestar.

GT= Sallokin

Using the sniper rifle in this game is so awesome. Haven't had as much fun sniping in a game in recent memory. And it's not too much of a handicap against hordes when you have dual pistols on you, which are surprisingly powerful. The best part about them is that they shoot as fast as you can click the mouse, as does the auto-shotty, so you can get off a lot of shots very quickly with two of them. I use them often to save ammo for the primary weapons.

Same thing happened to me. Then I went back and smashed through No Mercy on Easy single player. The achievements came through just fine then.

Try turning effects down to Medium? That's really the only option that eats CPU power and honestly... I don't notice a difference between Medium and High on effects. But anyways, yeah, my framerate usually cuts in half in intense scenes with the flashlight on (X2 5000+ here). Usually I'm at 60 but it will drop to around 30 at times. Doesn't bother me though.

we have been playing the first scenario on expert for about 3 hours and we are only on the third map, lol

Same here. The third map is hard.

just got done playing another whole section. I really need to start it from the VERY beginning instead of 10 seconds into the first one so I can get the achievement XD.

it's SO fun. ugh!

I started writing a post about all the moments that happened, and then realized that I was just scratching the surface.

So fucking awesome.

Every playthrough has awesome moments. In a game on No Mercy earlier, I was with two other people and one A.I. controlling Francis. We made it to the helicopter but the bot was having some trouble with the horde and getting bogged down. We helped him as much as we could from the helicopter, and we actually managed to fend off the horde together.

The bot then started limping towards us with no zombies around and we were laughing because we thought it was over and it was such a close call, and out of nowhere a Tank jumps up onto the platform, lands a massive punch on the bot when he's inches away from the heli and sends him flying off the building to his death. It was hysterical, especially the timing of it all.

I will be on again tomorrow so I am sure we can get one going.

This game is so good. I'm wondering how will the dlc support be for the 360, does valve support team fortress as good as it's pc counterpart?

Played through No Mercy on normal with ai team with the 360 version. There was a patch already when I first started it up. The graphics are still very jaggy, and the controls are the same as the demo version. I only wish there was an option to turn off the slight sticky-aim.

Game takes up 5.0 GB when installed to harddrive.

no :lol I still regret purchasing OB on 360 over PC :(

Damn, Dead Air is pretty fucking awesome.

The plane crashing right at the beginning of chapter 5 is :-O :-O :-O

Though on Advanced, it took me and 3 other skilled players 2 hours 15 minutes and 6 deaths to beat it :lol

Just picked up a 360 version too.

First double-dip of the year. Far Cry 2 didn't count since I got rid of the 360 version after a couple days.

Bring it!

why do you buy for both? first far cry and now l4d seems like a lovely waste of money you must be a high roller.

It blows me away how fun this game is. I have a smile on my face the entire time I play.

Versus is the only way to go.
Exactly. Even if you lose, it's always amazing.

Speaking of which, they weren't kidding about the game being harder the the demo hinted at. The Director just loves to occasioanlly bend you over and show you who's boss. Playing on Expert, you'll often go from smooth sailing to OMGWTF in a hurry.

Nothing like seeing someone fight off a horde, get jumped by a Hunter, get vomited on while the Hunter's still on top and just when he's saved, get tongue lashed and choked so the now approaching much bigger horde gets a free meal. All in 10 seconds.

Even though it wasn't Director related, the random zombie deflecting the molotov away from the Witch still angers me the most out of all the unfortunate luck we had tonight.

This. Seriously, you get fucked over SO often, but it still seems brilliant. I love it. Love it, love it love it. This is one of my top 5 for the year, for sure.

Easy to justify in this case.

Totally different friends lists and both are important to me.

Plus, this game is so good I want to reward Valve for a job well done and support our industry during this recession.

Also, a friend of mine worked hard on the game and I am supporting his efforts as well.

Far Cry 2, not so much. Which is why I returned it and picked up Valkyria Chronicles.
