Even though it wasn't Director related, the random zombie deflecting the molotov away from the Witch still angers me the most out of all the unfortunate luck we had tonight.
Yes... "random"..

:lol :p

Looking for 3 brave souls to go through my campaign run right now.

Steam ID = chespace

Go go go!

So I was on 5 health on the rooftop of Mercy Hospital, limping along a little ramp towards the helicopter. I see the guy ahead of me reach the chopper and turn behind to see the other two frantically running from a tank and a boomer with a swarm of zombies around them and more climbing the sides of the ramp. Awesome moment.

(All made it, barely).

Seriously, how are you supposed to get the cr0wned achievement? I've shot the witch in the head with a hunting rifle and she definitely didn't die, that honour was reserved for me :(

Easy to justify in this case.

Totally different friends lists and both are important to me.

Plus, this game is so good I want to reward Valve for a job well done and support our industry during this recession.

Also, a friend of mine worked hard on the game and I am supporting his efforts as well.

Far Cry 2, not so much. Which is why I returned it and picked up Valkyria Chronicles.
He shoulda hooked you up with a discount. Times is tough for gamers these days.

Yeah, Che. I see you and Zzoram in a game and I'd join you guys but I'm bushed out. Xclash and I kept getting whomped by endless tanks in the No Mercy Finale. We should all try to work out a schedule. I really want to play with a bunch of regulars.

So I just ran through a few levels on easy, ran into 2 witches, used a hunting rifle to head shot her, didn't work, used a shotgun to her face, nada again. Seriously how are you supposed to get the cr0wned achievement? Are you supposed to wait til she stands up to shoot her?

Ok, after Active reloading there is finally another feature that all games need... The A.I Director. Just not as psychopathic as this one. :(

No clue how this happened, but playing Death Tool on Advanced, we found a witch. Well, I found a witch and startled her without OH MY FUCKING GOD IT'S A WITCH WHERE THE FUCK DID SHE COME FROM SO I SHOT HER IN THE FACE WITH MY AUTO-SHOTTY OVER AND OVER AGAIN.

And I got that achievement.

:lol

Question for you all:

My Specs:

Athlon XP 2400+
FX7600
1GB Ram

Think it will handle it?

That's better than what I run now,
and I'm enjoying the game.

Some of the achievements on PC are broken. Namely, all the ones tied to beating a campaign. I've beaten the first 3 campaign, and not gotten a single of the "survive the campaign". Also, 4 of us beat the campaign with us all escaping, and only one player got the "No one left behind" achievement, while the rest of us got nothing. WTF!

If you're not in the lobby before the game starts,
you're not getting the achievements.

Why the fuck do all games need active reloading?

Active reload is one of the best things to come out of a shooter in a LONG time. Even if it's implemented in a game you wouldn't HAVE to use it (at least the way it works in GoW). It's just a nice meta-game that IMO can enhance any situation without feeling cheap. Missing the auto-reload mid firefight and having that "Oh fuck I gotta cover" moment is pretty cool in GoW, and it would be AWESOME in L4D.

Though I will agree not ALL games need it, I think it would be a good fit in an overwhelming majority of shooters.

I wish the achievements weren't glitched on Steam. I just did Death Toll (I was the lobby leader) and everyone got the achievement but me.

Did you drop out at all? I had a friend do that, and it null&voided his achievement, even though he was with us the whole time except for that small drop out.

I played it for the first time last night and was blown away. Even the brilliant demo doesn't manage to convey just how brilliant this game is. The A.I. director is god of awesome and the level design is fucking fantastic. It feels like I'm playing a zombie movie, except every moment is fresh and exhilarating.

Best co-op game ever made. Game of the decade.

Nope, was there the entire time.

Holy shit at "Death Toll: 4 - The Town". I've tried with seperate groups to get by it on advanced and we continually get our asses kicked.

Absolutely AMAZING game.

I'm running on an ATI HD Pro 2400 and I have an nVidia 9800GTX 512mb in the mail. I have 2 gigs of RAM and a Pentium D.

Will I notice a significant increase in visual quality when the 9800GTX gets here? And will I be able to max out the game and maintain a 60FPS?

I'm totally naive to PC specs and quality, for now.

Playing this game with 4 friends (hell, one friends and a bunch of randoms) is great. Valve are gods.

Oh and the developer commentary is, as usual, a great little feature.Hope they continue implementing it in all their future games.

THIS GAME IS KILLING ME

Too damn addicting. Grades are already suffering... but I must keep playing Versus.

The later levels of Blood Harvest are amazing with versus.

CAMPAIGN impressions from AMAZING to GOOD

- Death Toll
The atmosphere is SO EERIE and the art direction is fantastic

- No Mercy
Is it just me or does this have the most intense finale?

- Dead Air
Airport is fun to blaze through and OMG THE FINALE

- Blood Harvest
Corn fields were cool

I'm just peaking in this thread for a second... Question to all those who bought it: Is it worth the 50 bucks?

Two levels in the demo, how many does the main game have?

Buying this hinges on the answer...
BUY IT, YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT.

YES!

Ok, let me pose my current situation, and I want a true and honest evaluation on what I should do.

Currently, I'm poor as shit. I'm a college student. Now, I have about 200 bucks, and my phone bill (due at the end of the month) will be about 100, and my internet/cable bill is about 140. I have no extra money, but I start working fulltime in about a week. Should I purchase this game and get spanked in the ass with, like, a 10-dollar late charge on my cell phone? Not to mention there are probably other expenses I'm forgetting about.

Seriously, what should I do? I'm someone who truly has no money to spend, but I suppose it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world if I splurged at the most inopportune time. =P

Don't do it, no game is worth it.

Ok, I just remembered that my friend who lives in cleveland owes me 40 bucks, and I'm going there this weekend. Still, I don't know what I should do. Everyone else is having so much fun without me. ;_;

Don't be fucking stupid.

Who's down to play? my regular crew just hit the sac but I still hunger for zombie slaying.

There's two ways to look at it:

1) Everyone will have beat the game a week from now and while it will still be awesome, the "OMG THIS IS GOTY CO-OP OR NOT" hype will have waned and it will be slightly less thrilling to play through with people who know all the tips and tricks so you should get it ASAP.

or

2) Black Friday is less than two weeks away and you'll be able to find a WAAAAY better deal than $50 for it, so it would be better to wait until then. The game isn't going anywhere.

This post is like a choose-your-own-adventure book.

God I love this game. But there seems to be a glitch with the servers. I've seen it knock the difficulty up one notch on one server, and down on another (both were set to advanced difficulty).

Fucking awesome ass time, just made it through the No Mercy campaign on hard.

Probably the most amusing moment of the night can be summed up with Scarlet's quote quote:

"One shot to the head my ass!"

Also, getting the TankBuster achievement was pretty satisfying too.

So awesome.

Anyone else dealing with Expert just fine?

It's too hard for the campaign finales though, we tone it down to Advanced because of the Tanks.

Well, like I do with most of my life choices, I left it up to a best-out-of-three coin flip. Heads I buy it, tails I don't. Simple as that. The first two flips were both tails, so I'm not getting it tonight.

But good advice with the Black Friday stuff.

You kidding me? Its the best things to come out of shooters in the last few years.
So you're saying Gears of War with average graphics, no cover system but with active reloading included would have been still would have been GOTY material?

Best things for shooters in the last few years:
Unreal Engine 3
Great cover systems
Guns with chainsaws
Dolby Digital surround sound
Skill based matchmaking
Mod tools
AI Director

Contemplating playing through campaign on Advanced tomorrow. Have only played Expert so far, it's great fun but still haven't been able to get all the way through No Mercy.

I just want to see everything, really. Why does everything below Expert have to be so incredibly easy?

I completed Death Toll earlier today, and now I completed Dead Air with three other randoms. All of us had mics, and we started to work beautifully together as a team. Say what you will about the lobby system, but when it works, it works perfectly.

^ When Zoey passed this scribble on the wall, she sounded like she was responding to one of us being killed and said, "Oh no, the zombies killed God!" Much lolz were had.

l4d_airport02_offices0005.jpg

The finale blew our minds. The opening, the sheer tension of holding out a raised piece of plane wreckage, and then that final mad dash for the cargo plane.

A final tank killed two of the guys, but myself and the other survivor killed it, and that was when the doors began to open on the plane. Zombie howls filled the air, and we waited in agony as the doors slowly receded. The other survivor jumped in first, I followed after pulling off a perfect string of melees to push away a zombie crowd. Both of us made it into the plane.

Blood Harvest comes tomorrow, I can't wait.

Over the past two weeks, I played 14.7 hours of the demo.
I played 8.4 hours of the main game today.

And I haven't managed to beat a single campaign yet. Of course, I'm playing exclusively on Expert (with the exception of one session of Advanced with a friend of mine. It was like easy mode... until I was jumped by a hunter as I was getting on the boat at the end of Death Toll.)
