If that's the best strategy, use it until Valve changes things! Remember the servers that had melee fatigue? Everyone hated it.

Infected should have the option to join together as one super infected.

Hunters become the legs. Tank becomes the arms. Boomer the body. Smoker as the head.

The patch was very good, but the Sniper Rifle still needs a buff or to be remade completely and The Witch is still ridiculously underpowered against tier 2 weapons, more specifically the autoshotgun.

Yeah. I always liked those and was annoyed that there'd always be a vote change. Hey, lets go from everyone being green on the servers to all red... because it has the mod.

Of course, now I swing like a bot like everyone else. But I really wish they'll introduce fatigue.

Great game last night guys! It was really close all the way to the end. The highlights for me were when I was dragged by a smoker right into a car with an alarm which activated and alerted the horde and at the very end when I made a mad limpy hop to the APC while grey past a bunch of zombies but died due to Bloodletter slashing me in the APC right before the door closed.

Oh God, the new strategy in No Mercy 3 is boring as all hell. When people press the button for the elevator, they all just decide to jump off it, huddle into a corner and pistol away at the horde. Just another cheap strategy that sucks the fun out of the game.

The patch was awesome and all, but infected still needs a skill that will punish survivors for turtling in one location too long.

This is what the survivors do in every game for the entire game, except they move forward in the level in-between attacks.

Woop woop, in case any of you were wondering, I got my 360 L4D disc working. Just installed it to the HD and -bam!- no more messed up graphics, no more DRE's! Now I'm looking to play tonight with some of L4D360GAF.

If anyone is up for it, add me. GT: backflip10019

Indeed, but that part in NM3 was actually one of the more exciting parts of the campaign. Watching out for smokers, making sure you don't get boomed, fighting off dozens of infected all while making a mad dash towards the building.

Ah well, I'll just continue to rely on GAF games.

Or regular zombies.

They stopped me from rescuing bill when he was tragically pounced by a hunter.

I think that was me as that happened to me and I allways play Bill, was it NM5? I thought we were all going to rush for the top but only I made it and the boomer sprayed the peopel down the stairs and a horde of zombies came rushing and blocked the stairs long enough for me to die.

Accumulate GAF people on your Steam friends list. GAF people may be obnoxious jerks who hate everything when they post on the board, but in game MOST of them are surprisingly fun. =)
I think the best way to go about it is to just build up a friends list with people you like from random matches. If you use your mic a lot things just fall into place and you have a friends list with awesome people on it. I like playing with GAF people, but I don't think it is necessarily the best way to go about it.

edit: Also play campaign mode on expert. It is really challenging and fun, and the people are usually much better at the game and more mature.

It looks like the steam community stats have been removed. I suppose they're trying to fix all the stat tracking before they put them back up.

Bah, and I was deliberately racking up infected kills all day. :(

How can they change survivors grouping up in a corner?

There should be some sort of penalty for meleeing your friends too much. Like after the 3rd or 4th hit it should start stunning your teammates (or the meleer themself).

Either that or the infected need a new ability, maybe buff the smoker or create a new infected that can cause some sort of effect that encourages the survivors to get the hell out of their turtle spot. Like a poison gas cloud or throwing some kind of delayed explosive that is easy to avoid but devastating if you decide to stay put.

maybe melee should incur a dmg penalty or such for actual contact with infected or what not in versus. Something low enough not to antagonise survivors a lot, but high enough to keep them moving and discourage use of corner SUPAH MELEE STORM NO JUTSU

put a time based score in versus.

not only do you need to get to the end, but you need to do it FASTER than the other team.

no more camping, just mad rushing. nice balance between speed and keeping team together

OK so I will finally get it next week! Mostly because all the guys on my friends list are playing it, and everyone says it's fucking awesome.

I will not doubt you guys and if it sucks I will kick you guys asses :p. But seriously, I wanted in on the party! So be sure to send me some requests to play with you guys, I don't want to play on random fucking teams or nothing like that, if your my friend on XBL, or not yet, just send me a FR! Or an invite ^_^.

No. The entire point of the health bonus is to make sure you incur the least of damage which usually means being very careful and sometimes moving slowly as a group. Adding a time based score ruins the purpose of health bonus and everyone would be doing gauntlet then since the only option is to rush.

Time based score = horrible idea.

Played some more DA vs today and I've to say the maps are pretty boring in VS.
It's going to be fairly epic when the map actually does come out for Versus and people are disappointed. It sort of reminds me of the openness of Blood Harvest with the looks of No Mercy.

Because Valve didn't originally make the maps available for VS because they said they wanted it to be fun for both sides, so of course this will take some tweaking here and there, rather than just the campaign maps as they are (which you are playing).

Oh God, the new strategy in No Mercy 4 (fixed) is boring as all hell. When people press the button for the elevator, they all just decide to jump off it, huddle into a corner and pistol away at the horde. Just another cheap strategy that sucks the fun out of the game.

Well, think about the three other crescendo events that are playable in versus:

- The door in NM2 after you leave the subways is a somewhat open space, and there's a nest with health, a turret, and occasionally projectiles nearby. The event ends when the door opens, although you can push up the stairs before it completely ends.
- The emergency door in BH2 has health in the room with the door, sometimes has weapons outside it, and you can continue to run the map the second you start the event. So long as you don't turtle in the room itself, it also provides you with some room to manuver. The event ends when the alarm stops.
- The train brake in BH3 is in a hugely open area, is right near a house with at the very least an ammo spawn (if not health and weapons), and ends fairly quickly. If you ran alongside the train, you'd get to the bridge just as it was breaking - meaning you're not really constrained waiting for the event to end. And the common infected stop spawning not long after the bridge is hit.

So now, think about NM4. It's an incredibly tight area (low ceiling, narrow hallway) where the infected can come at you from what, five directions? It's the crescendo I see the most teams get destroyed on in versus. More importantly - in all my experience, the event does not actually end (and the common infected don't stop spawning) until you get in the elevator and push the button to close the door. Just standing around does not end the event. And I've never seen any item spawns in that area, although I can't say that I've done a lot of searching.

So if you don't get on that elevator, you will die. Which means you want to collectively be as close to that elevator as possible. Meaning there is little incentive to do anything other than turtle if you want to live long enough to finish the level.

It'd be good if Valve reworked it a bit for versus play.

Elevator is probably the least worrisome one whenever I've played, just staying by the ammo or along the broken walls. Fewest deaths I can think of. There can be a medkit and sometimes pipe bombs or molotovs on the shelf by the elevator/closet.

Only thing they can do to NM4 is probably get rid of the closet, but even then, that crescendo event is still easy as all hell even when the survivors opt to fight outside the closet. Overall, I think NM4 is a little easy, and the only time the level gets interesting is when a Tank spawns on the rooftops.

All the other crescendo events you listed can all be easily broken, too. There is not one single crescendo even in this game that can't be cheesed by the survivors, making it boring as fuck for the infected. The reason why I complained about the NM3 one specifically was because it's probably the most intense part of versus mode if you play it the way it was designed to be played.

Figured out why I was lagging to hell last night, someone in the house was torrenting a bunch of shit...

Welp problem solved, back in action tonight.

uploading a video right now of that hunter lift slashing last night :lol

watching it again makes me pretty damn sure that there's something bugged about melee in the lift because I got meleed many more times than it needed to kill me, and I wasn't even affected so...

About time you got it. Over the course of the last few weeks, it crossed my mind several times to demand that you go and buy the game.

a fair amount of people have already suggested this on the steam forums, so hopefully valve will find a way to implement it. :D

is it just me or is it getting harder and harder to find good games to join. I played a little yesterday everyone kept quitting and one match I joined some guy kept TK everyone.

NEW HUNTER GLITCH? STALKERU AND DYGIT JUST REALLY DUMB? WE REPORT YOU DECIDE

sounds good to me

For some reason the video isn't loading for me. But that was seriously not fair. I know I had my team chat window open and was fumbling around to get it closed so I could start attacking. And then when I finally did, the attacks didn't do anything. So I opened the window to bitch how I couldn't attack cause the window was open and then more started dropping in.:lol

Are the servers messed up for anyone now? All my friends are showing as in private games even though they're actually pub games. We created a pub lobby, and it never filled up.
