Tinkered with it a while, my orange map loads in L4D, but I lost patience with the navmap generation, so no zombs yet. I'll just run it again overnight or something.

nice, i didnt expect the sdk to be out(the beta that is). Looked around at some of the maps valve included, messed with a few things, n it looks like Im gonna have to spend another 4-5 years learnin this engine.

Already have some ideas for a nice survival map :D

I believe the Tank ran out into the woods as soon as he spawned (it was Sanjay). I had an assault rifle and tried to shoot at the Tank while it threw a rock, then creep up on it, but no one else really wanted to do the same.

Daigoro, since you have played both Left 4 Dead and RE5 Mercenaries a lot, which would you say is more enjoyable? I personally cannot get into L4D for some reason. I don't like the graphics and the framerate, and am not fond of the gameplay. Whereas in RE5 Mercenaries, I could play that all day long and not get bored.

That's why you get rid of special zombies, make the normal zombies super slow, and increase their number by a billions.

throwing rocks in sight of survivors from on top of somewhere that they cant shoot you, exploiting game mechanics just to burn time without losing control of the tank.

its not a big deal, just cheap. no worse than people pouncing on ladders or smokering off of roof tops.

vertopci is the only person ive actually seen wait about a minute+ up on top of something across the level throwing rocks.

there are already configs for that. but it breaks some events. i wasn't able to complete a campaign because the game wanted to spawn tanks but couldn't because i deactivated them...

Once the SDK is out and we can start modifying the code this will be extremely easy to implement.

Yeah. The one I played it at was a vs match, and we wondered why they died so fast. I think it was advanced or even expert, too. It was very confusing, until our turn came up and we saw what happened. A single Boomer was a god.

I remember that match. So stupid, hahah.
 
Is it common knowledge that you can skip the first part on DT4? I just found out that if you climb onto the fence on the right hand side of the church-courtyard-exit and then jump your way along to the other end, you can make it up onto the bus roof and down into the main street.

As far as I know, everyone knows. O:

It doesn't really skip that much, though. Saves maybe ten seconds of zombie-clearing in the parking lot before you jump over the shorter barrier between the two buses! (Unless of course you want to go into the buildings and check things out.)

Ehh, I guess it's common knowledge, but it's not that useful since it's not much farther out of your way to just hop the barrier between the buses, plus you run less risk of ridiculous smoker mishaps. EDIT: Beaten!

Much, much more useful is the shortcut on DA3 where you climb over one of the planes to get to the alarmed car quicker.
 
Yeah I guess that it the very uselessness of the fence route was the main reason I never noticed it. Never seen a single survivor climb up there in 100s of hours of VS lol

(although to be fair, DT vs has been limited to April only)

Never knew that D:

Sounds risky though. One good smoke or pounce and you have a guy stranded on the other side of the fence, out of reach of anyone who made that jump.

I need to start playing L4D and TF2 games again. Got too spoiled when playing with GAF, and now I seem to be compelled not to play random :lol Hate it when that happens.

i love both. but ive put in way more hours of L4D between the two versions (360 and PC).

part of that may be because i spent about 100 hrs in the first two weeks of RE and got a little burnt out, and then my 360 account got jacked. so i havent played RE at all in the last month.

some people just dont seem to dig L4D though, which is a shame because its one of my favorite games ever. maybe its just not for you. but if graphics and frame rate are a factor, then you need to try the pc version. i love both, but the pc version is superior in pretty much every way (except for all of my other set of friends i play with on the 360 version).

Yup, thought it's summer now, so i'll probably have more time. Also I havent played RE5 Mercs even once yet ; ;

Botolf and I were trying to replicate that instant kill pounce he did the day before, and we took turns being survivor and infected, just us. So he had 3 AI with him when I smokered him at at the start (just messing around), and all three AI survivors fell to their deaths trying to get me to stop smokering Botolf.

Like other's have said, take out all the super infected.
If you shoot a zombie in the arm/leg they would move without that limb.
So if you blow off the zombies legs, they would crawl towards you, etc...
Plus, when they get to you, they'll try to bite you,
not just kick and punch you. :p

Also, it would have to get rid of infinite pistol ammo,
and give you melee weapons. (Knife/bat/gun melee/whatever)

It would change the game a lot,
but hey, that's what mods are for. :p

It's pretty easy to beat Construction Site if everyone stays back on the top and against the wall, by the gap that leads back to the safe room. Tanks usually climb up there, and if someone watches that spot, they can blast the Tank as it climbs up to everyone, and you should be able to kill it before it does anything. You shouldn't really even have to worry about specials there, either, since even if a Smoker grabs someone, they won't get pulled down.
