I played on a weird server yesterday with Volcynika. It had some point-buying system (I think everyone started with 20ish points). Survivors got a point for killing some (large?) number of normal zombies, a point for each special zombie they kill, and like four points for healing another survivor with a medkit. Infected got one point for each survivor they pounced/boomed/smoked, and as a smoker or hunter they would get points gradually added if they weren't immediately knocked off.
It was kinda fun, but seemed (like any change that helps survivors) kind of unfairly balanced towards survivors. Of course, I always suck at video games, so maybe that was my problem.
Survivors could use 10 points to instantly heal (including picking themselves up if they're incapacitated, but don't have a hunter on them I guess), and like 3 points to buy a medkit or molotov. 5 points for pills?
Infected could pick what kind of infected to spawn (I didn't try it, it might let you get something like 3 smokers?), or use like 25 points to spawn a panic event. 35 points spawned a tank, though apparently you don't necessarily get to use it yourself, and you had to be careful to use it when people could spawn or it could be wasted. There was also a limit of one tank at a time, I checked. =(
My only other real complaint was that a 23-damage pounce would give you one point just like a 1-damage pounce, as far as I could tell, so you had to actually pounce where you could stay on survivors to get extra points.
Also, Death Aboard versus is pretty fun (that's what we were playing). The parts inside the slanted boat just suck for everyone, though, since they annoy survivors and they have too many railings for the infected to do much of anything.
