I just got a call from "Ashley" from Gamestop saying that Left4dead will be arriving Tuesday afternoon.

Did anyone else get this call?

Must be a mistake?
 
As someone late to the Left 4 Dead hype train, can I ask:

Is this primarily a multiplayer client game for parties of 4 to rip through the zombies, or is there any significant offline mode? Local co-op, split screen, etc? Local play with bot teammates?

Don't know about split screen (getting PC version). But the game is always played with 4 players in coop mode. If you don't have 4 people, bots take over the unplayed humans.
 
2-player split screen on the Xbox port.

And bots fill any un-manned spots. Very good bots, if Counterstrike is anything to go by.

Are you looking at the 360 version? I'm guessing so since you mentioned split screen.

So to answer your questions.

Left 4 Dead the works either single or multi. If you don't have 3 other players with you it substitutes with AI bots who take their place. The game also automatically fills in a human player with a bot if one of the four suddenly drop out online. There is two player split screen on 360, which you can also take online.

I have another question...let's say you DON'T WANT to play with bots. Has it been mentioned if that is possible? For example, let's say there are 3 human players...does there have to be a MANDATORY bot player to fill in the 4th slot? I hope this isn't the case!

Just got the same call. Not quite sure what to make of it. Seems like Valve would have announced if it was shipping a week early.

360, yes. I glanced at the first page, but didn't seem entirely clear if the bot function had anything to do with offline play, etc. In this day and age of online focus it's hard to tell sometimes.

Go for it. I think the PC side is pretty well organized already, but we could use an XBL account and an Online Forum thread for 360 tags if you've got the time to put them together.

...however my call was about Gears 2, not L4D. I hope we get our email codes soon.

I don't think Valve has said anything about this, but since the title is Left 4 Dead, I'm guessing a fourth player will be AIBOTTED.

You could always let the 4th ai bot die in the beginning. :P

Yes, that up beat woman called me too. She gets around quick. But she did tell me Gears 2 and not L4D.

What's funny is that even if it did ship early, you couldn't play it until Valve flips the switch on Steam on Nov 18 :lol

I recommend that people download the original videos. The frame rates on Valve's computers are silky smooth. Share Vidd > Download Original Vidd.

Doubt its going to be tonight. Probably tomorrow afternoon. They still haven't released the dedicated server files yet.
 
so is everyone ready for the Beta/demo thats starts tomorrow/tonight. I still have to preorder tonight but i cant waiiiit. I can run tf2 well enough so i dont think l4d will be much of a problem.

Amazing Scalable Engines for the WIN. i wuv Source.
 
erm...do you think my Ati x800 XL 256mb is supported for this? The engine has always scaled well for me (TF2 runs great) but newer cards than mine are the min. spec for L4D, so I won't be surprised if not.

Getting a new PC soon, but until then I'll have to play on 360 (which will still be amazing, mind!) :(
