Has any achieved "Lamb 2 Slaughter" yet? The achievement where you have to incapacitate a survivor that has entered and left the saferoom as an infected? I have had quite a few opportunities to do this and it never registered. :( I only need that and "Zombie Genocide" to earn all achievements.

I'm not really into achievements, but I've noticed of all the achievements I've not gotten, this is the only one that's shaded green. Part of me thinks that signifies it's difficult to get, but then why isn't Complete all 4 Expert campaigns shaded green? Does green possibly mean it was accomplished, but somehow not registered? Green can't mean easy, can it? Cause I've got some pretty easy achievements that I've not done and they aren't green. I've been curious about that designation for a while.

Yellow ones are achieved when being a survivor, green means ones you achieve while you're an Infected.

I got it, but the achievement unlock is a bit stuffed up.
It shows up as unlocked in the game, but not in my steam profile

The hunting riffle is so much more difficult to use in the 360 version, it's almost insane. It still has all of it's awesome characteristics, such as the ability to one shot a zombie and its range, but it's just so much harder to keep that thing accurate in a tense moment.

Still, I'll use it over the shotty and probably over the AR until I get good with it.

I played a couple of hours yesterday and it's very easy to see what all the fuss is about -- this game grows on you faster than the zombie infection spread and people who don't give it a chance (360 or PC) are really missing out. It's simple objectives (go from point a to point b) and pure gameplay hide the fact that it's actually a pretty complex game...

I believe in the game the Hunting Rifle can shoot through any wall. That's one of it's advantages.

In real life: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QLyuZIq11fs

That I didn't know. Although, whatever was shooting through the concrete was either the uzi or assault rifle.

Yeah. That would make a lot of sense, wouldn't it.

Speaking of achievements, WTF is with that Outbreak one? I got it when a Boomer barfed on me in VS. but I have no idea what it means.

Any tips on the cr0wnd achievement? I can't seem to ever kill a witch with one single shot :S

1.Use a Pump Shotgun or an Autoshotgun (as they deal the most damage in short bursts).

2.When you see a witch just run up to her from behind (without hesitation) and try to plant a headshot on her.

**The faster you move up to her position the more time you'll have to shoot her without startling her beforehand.

**The area is usually clear whenever a witch occupies it, but make sure there aren't any other common infected that will throw you off when trying to attempt this.

Video

EDIT: If you want to get a headshot on her much more easily, wait until she has fully stood up.

I wish Doytch didn't take my spot early on, but my game crashed... again. And again (and again) when I played with Daigoro and Astrolad. :\

To continue my suspension of disbelief, I just treated it as Zoey periodically going into psychotic trances and us all trying to talk her down. We couldn't figure out what was happening the first time and we got swarmed so bad. But we all made it in the end whoo!

A guy in our matches (Syl) asked me how to pronounce my name. I told him how, then said everyone just calls me Volcano Man. :lol

Yeah, Syl is cool, knew him from OCR forums. Was wondering where the Volcano Man thing came from...

Well, no one knew how to pronounce my name, and then started calling me Volcano, then added the Man later. I think Javaman might have started it, or was one of the original people to use it.

I was the progenitor of the Man part. Javaman was the Volcano. It was a spontaneous team effort at the time.

And now you suffer.

Muahahaha!

Alright L4D story time GAF.

3 friends and I ventured through Death Toll on expert the other night. It was quite a fight getting to the finale level, but we made it. We entered the house by the water and started to prepare for the inevitable horde attack before much needed rescue arrived. We signal rescue and make our way to the dock to set up defensive positions. 2 gas cans on each side of the approach, Francis and Zoey defending the immediate dock pathway with auto-shotguns. Myself and Louis guarding the upper steps with M4's. A series of horrible screams echo in the distance, they're coming.

Wave after wave of infected stream towards our position, but we're dug in well and up to the task. Hundreds of rounds rip through infected bodies, the only thing louder than their shrieks is the constant thunder of gunfire. A smoker appears in the hills to the left, I quickly inform him of the surgeon general's warning via M4. The revolting boomer appears and makes a dash up the middle but is stopped long before he has a chance to get close and wreak havoc. Finally the frequency of gunfire begins to dwindle, the rush is over. Only a few moments later, the familiar rumble of earth is felt by each survivor, a tank approaches. Louis equips a molotov cocktail and ignites the tank with ease, he's done this before. We lead the tank around the house by the water, frantically firing on him as he burns with every passing second. He finally falls at our feet.

We venture into the house again grabbing much needed ammo and more home made explosives. The silence of the radio finally breaks, rescue has arrived. With our salvation in sight, and so close, we make our way back to the dock. Francis is taken down by a hunter and surrounded by infected. Zoey throws a pipe bomb to attract the infected away, I place a few rounds in the hunters head, Francis rejoins us. As the group moves forward, a boomer reveals himself from behind a nearby tree but Louis panics and shoots him, causing the horde to come down on all of us with a renewed fury. Nearly blinded by the boomer's bile, the situation grows more and more grim for the survivors with every moment. A smoker grabs Louis and pulls him towards the house, "This situation is fubar!" I exclaim. We can't get to him.

We limp off towards the dock, auto-shotgun and M4 fire echoes through the woods. The boat can be seen approaching the dock, it's nearly a minute away. Just as our hopes were renewed even after our loss of Louis, the earth shakes once more. Zoey screams in terror and flies through the air past me, a tank now stands where she did. Francis and I make a final dash for the dock but he becomes overwhelmed by the horde, I can't save him. I limp down the dock, the wooden pathway seems endless. I turn to shove away the wave of infected hell-bent on my death, while continuing backwards towards help I know is coming. I quickly look to see the boat, it's not even 50 ft from the dock's steps.

Continuing to push back the undead tide, horror fills my eyes. The tank has unearthed a huge mass of rock and hurls it towards me. There's nowhere to go, the boat isn't close enough and I'm far too injured to take my chances in the water. I collapse from the blow, all hope is lost. I fire my side-arm at the surrounding infected that are ripping me to shreds, light begins to fade from the world. The shore of Riverside returns to silence.

Epic fail :lol

K, some servers are just too freaking random on versus. There should be some consistency when playing versus... like tank numbers.

That was some bullshit.

I normally wouldn't come on the forums and cry about it. But fucking fuck was that some bullshit.

I'd have to agree. Typically coop games are only bearable when playing with friends. Not only do you tend to find "friendly" gamers in LD4, they're always willing to kick out the dumbasses via the great kick system.
'Cept when you have some guy that insists on being 100 feet away from the team at any point and even running in the wrong direction. Forcing you (well, me :p) to repeatedly go back and save him just so the team can have a chance to get bonus survovor points at the end.

Even though we won most of the games, we really should've kicked some of those people. Randoms for the loss.

JoeFu said:
Not really. It can be random to an extent, but when there is a clear disadvantage it isn't really fun...
I'd have to agree with Zzoram. Set numbers would suck, as you'd know exactly what to expect. The randomness is what makes the game as fun as it is.

Not to mention that Tanks are so easy to kill with upgraded weapons that it's a joke sometimes. It's a sad sad sight when your team drops one in 10 seconds. :lol

Milabrega said:
Them getting a tank on level 1 and us not was the deciding factor.
Yeah. I mean, I'm sure had they taken longer getting to the end, we would've gotten one too. They got there pretty fast. (Partly my fault, from jumping around like a maniac as hunter -- which was really fun! But useless. Although I'm getting better at walljump pounces. O:)

But even past that, with the exception of, I think, level 2, they got a tank earlier than us every time, which meant we got less distance anyway.

They didn't get a tank on the last level, though. (Before the finale.) We might've been able to pull ahead, but I think I've won the finale once on versus.

I don't know why that guy was so pissed about going to barn. We didn't have time to sit around discussing plans, it's not campaign, and barn is easy if everyone agrees, so I suggested it and no one said no. Then I suggested it again and no one said no. Then I said ready and no one said no. Until AFTER we lost of course. OH IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT TWIG.

Grrr. So annoying.

This is not at all true if the other team is good at teamwork...

I mean, there's a reason smokers, hunters, and boomers aren't disabled when a tank comes out, you know.

I remember hiding in a room in New Mercy and getting shot through the drywall.

I now do the same thing. There's some really good ambush points for Boomers. So I've started shooting into the rooms where I really like to hide.

I was also killed once when I was in the stairwell of New Mercy and somebody fired bullets through concrete blocks. Not sure I'm sold on that. Do bullets actually penetrate concrete blocks in real life?
IIRC, penetration is determined by wall/object width.

It didn't dawn at my at the moment but you're right. We'll kick them ASAP from now on.

Understood but his point is still true. The Tanks are very vulnerable to the upgraded weapons. Even if you're left 1-1 with a Tank, if you have the auto-shotty and some room to maneuver you can take him down singlehandedly.

The Tank feels like a tank against the low level weapons. He isn't to be feared with the upgraded weapons.

I'm back home from the break and ready to play again tonight. Still have only played first 2 stages on Dead Air, so hopefully I can beat that campaign with some people.

Yes, and as you say, if it's 1v1, a tank is easy to take down.

But it never is. Special infected respawn! Not to mention normal infected running around all willy-nilly.

They can go down very fast, if the survivor isn't distracted by a screeching hunter, a coughing smoker, a belching boomer. But, really, how often is that the case?

Really I don't even care. Tanks are tanks. I accept that they are part of the game and, given the right situations, can either be deadly or completely useless. But that game was ridiculous. I need time to fume. ):<

On the other side of the coin, it's very true if the Survivor team is any good to begin with.

The other player infected merely serve as a distraction for the Tank player to do his job (or vice versa). You can take out everything else in a few shots and concentrate on the Tank to bring it down before they even respawn. It's not really that big an issue if you have the teamwork to get it done.

Was just some miscues on the execution on going to the barn, you got out the door nd we got puked on. When it first died down, JoeFu got to ya, but the Francis guy nd I were still behind when another wave came. We lucked out they didnt jump ya when you were on your own. The barn was a good plan since tanks are cake, but we had no Molly's or Pipe Bombs and that did us in.

In contrast to the low level guns, a tank is easy to take down with the high level guns. It is what it is, nobody is really disagreeing with you. The Tank lives up to it's name with or without any help with the low level weapons. With them, with our without help, he's extremely weak. That's all we're saying.

Right.

Also, since Survivors run faster forwards than they do strafing or backwards (something people don't seem to notice), you're pretty safe as is vs a Tank as long as you have room to maneuver. It's only when the environment works against you or there are other player infected to worry about that the Tank's any real threat.

edit:
The Tank's countdown timer doesn't do it's user any favors either..

That game was just STUPID though.

The AI was totally favoring my team, and dicking over yours. Plus, getting healed at 94 health while trying to run from a tank then getting punched between that rock and tree with 4hp and not being able to move because I was stuck in that flying through the air thing was annoying.

Valve should start looking at balance and map issues some more, perhaps. Although, I must say, getting stuck in the air like that probably doesn't happen often.

I know tanks are easy to take down with high level guns, but we didn't have high level guns. Our tank spawned after they got theirs, they got their take way before us on the second round, that also kinda screwed us over too.

I don't like whining, but seriously, it sucks when there is a clear disadvantage.

People kept DCing from versus matches on xbox live including me, and all of a sudden I hear bleeps when I get a red message as an infected in versus mode when in spawn mode. Anyone else experiencing this? These bleeps are quite annoying. >_>

I'm sure they're going through their stats and thinking of a solution.

ggs lastnight guys. that was fun.

i tried out some VS for the first time last night afterwards. i sucked for the most part as infected (had one good boom where i got 3 people, and a few good punces as a hunter), but it was a learing experience and a lot of fun.

i hopped on the 360 version when i woke up this monring and did a few campaigns with randoms that were pretty fun.

im sitting here tired as hell at work, but i cant wait to get back home and play some more.

littlebit ot but is your name from that old japanese series with the samurai and the kid wandering around in ancient japan? wolf and the kid or something?

Is this the only game ever on GAF that's been on both Xbox 360 and PC, where the PC GAFfers outnumbered the Xbox 360 ones?

Or are the PC GAFfers just the only ones who post in this thread?

That's the level where I stumbled upon the exploit which basically makes all the tanks and the horde disappear, summoning the boat in under a minute >_<

I'm a 360 Left 4 Dead player, although I'd play it on my PC if it didn't suck. I would prefer mouse+keyboard controls.
