What's preventing me from taking this miniarc seriously is the thought of Kisame still hidden in the sword (he's still hidden, isn't he?). I hope he has some way to isolate himself from the outside, since I don't think he could remain sane after listening to Bee rapping all day. :lol
Oh, and this chapter is just one big cliche... better things to come it seems, though.

As opposed to having several chapters worth here? Definitely. The small amount of development this flashback has had is with Ace softening from an angry child to a loving brother, which would have been much more appropriate back there. The flashback has had no relevance at all to Luffy so far. He's exactly the same at the start, here and in the present time.
I'd rather it were cut out entirely though.

Why did the chapter have to end before seeing Shimaki's golem? :lol I'm kind of hoping Hakudou doesn't die even though it seems like it will be the obvious route the story will go.

I wasn't expecting Sabo to have taken the "brother" oath with Luffy as well. I guess he really is Ace's replacement, right down to beating Luffy multiple times. Although it's too bad Sabo's dad isn't on the level of someone like Roger or Dragon.

2) That dialogue was from when Sabo was explaining who he was in a casual conversation. That's a major difference from the end of the chapter when Sabo, Luffy, and Ace are being attacked and Sabo gets taken by the Nobels. It's like (for example) trying to argue Luffy forgetting who CP9 is before and after they kidnapped Robin.

As for Luffy, he's not one to just start explaining his past to anyone. He either blurts it out like it's common knowledge or he acts like a dunce and doesn't bring it up at all. Hell, we didn't even know about Ace until, well, Ace shows up. Then all of a sudden, Luffy's got a "brother."
As for Ace, well, we had little direct contact with him before he died, and when we did, it was always concerning something else. There wasn't really a reason to suddenly bring up someone like Sabo when so much other shit was going on. Either Blackbeard was on his mind or he was waiting to be executed.

I don't get it, how is accepting he has a dark side going to help him filter out the 9 tails hatarade? The whole dark naruto thing feels redundant now that he's going to fight the demon fox anyway.

Flashback has more meat on it than I thought it would, when it started I was expecting it to just focus on the Ace & Luffy brotherly love but now we have a possible link to the tenryuubito. Assuming the person Sabo is expected to marry into is is in relation to the world noble that arrived as of last chapter.

ok so i just finished the new HxH chapter and i am having a hard time figuring out why you guys thought this was going to be a tournament.
