One Piece Spoilers

I wasn't expecting Sabo to die but that was a nice twist with him being one of the Nobles. Now I really wonder why Luffy doesn't remember them (story wise vs Oda possibly coming up with this as he went along). Sure Luffy forgets details, but I don't think he'd forget a "dramatic" detail like this involving a comrade.
What makes you think Luffy knows who Sabo's family really is? All is knows is that Sabo's family wants him back, not who Sabo's family is.

Sabo tells both Ace and Luffy in this chapter that he is a noble of the Goa Kingdom.

OH NO!!!

I think it's really really likely that Oda just came up with this Sabo guy in the last few volumes. I don't know how the reunion will shape up, but I don't like the premise.

Regarding the Nobles: so, Sabo becoming one that Luffy will care about (just out of the blue) is maybe a clue that the Tenryuubito are the next "great power" of the seas and that they are behind Do Flamingo's mission to kill Moria? I suppose that not all the Nobles are lazy freaks like those on Sabaody (take Sabo, for instance) and Marines' strength has been quite downgraded after the events with Blackbeard (not that they are weaker in their world, but we got to know that there's someone who's "higher" than them). Probably the Nobles are between marines and the five elders on the Op world's power scale.

Guess you completely forgot about Jidanbou? Hell, they didn't even want to show Kuukaku without a prosthetic.
This will cripple Aizen's smirky badassedness. (He disabled almost everyone by cutting off their arms after all...)

Still, it would have been nice if Oda had shown hints of Sabo during the Sabaody Archipelago Arc. But I guess since Luffy is going to have to return there to get his ship anyway that will be the perfect opportunity.

That depends on whether the Nobles still have a big role to play during this flashback. Luffy doesn't strike me as someone that remembers names without encounters.

However one could question why Sabo wasn't mentioned when Ace was dying. Even Dadan was mentioned.

Griffith already answered the family question but I wasn't even talking about Sabo's family specifically. I was speaking in regards the World Nobles/Celestial Dragons in general. Luffy had no idea who the World Nobles/Celestial Dragons were in Sabaody Archipelago when they were mentioned by name. If one of his comrades was taken away by them, it's hard to believe that Luffy wouldn't at least remember the name of the group no matter how forgetful he is at times.

Luffy does forget things often but when it comes to comrades/close friends he tends to remember important details and Sabo being taken by the World Nobles and being a World Noble doesn't strike me as something he'd forget. At the very least he shouldn't have been completely clueless as to who the World Nobles were when they were introduced in Sabaody Archipelago.

I'd like to give Oda the benefit of the doubt since he is really good at foreshadowing and taking small elements in past chapters and turning them into major ones (Rayleigh, Garp, Haki, etc...) but I do think that Sabo was new addition to the story. Oda probably thought him up once he made the decision to kill Ace.

There is nothing to suggest that Sabo was taken away by World Nobles. Sabo is a noble of the Goa Kingdom. He's like Vivi.

So you think the World Nobles being mentioned at the end of the last chapter has no relation to this?

....

Luffy at that point probably didn't know what a noble is nor did he care
"Ace: Son of a noble!?
Luffy: Who is!?
Sabo: Me!!
Luffy & Ace: So?"

So to him that is not an important detail. With Luffy being luffy, it is valid that he has already forgotten about nobles at the beginning of the Sabaody Arc.

If Mangastream is going to start doing series like Kekkaishi, can they at least pick up Negima so it will come out at some point :lol

They wouldn't even have to do it that often since Akamatsu takes so many breaks (for the record, taking a one week break every 2-3 weeks > randomly quitting a la Togashi/Miura)

Luffy doesn't strike me the type to remember groups, he wouldn't go "It's the Yonkou Whitebeard!" but "Hey you're Whitebeard, Ace's Nakama" And Shanks will always be Shanks.

Exceptions seem to be when he's had his ass comprehensivly beaten via Shichibukai and Admiral.

Oh Mangastream started doing Kekkaishi? I'm not sure if that's a good thing, Mangastream doesn't exactly do a great job and I don't really care about how fast it comes out. Not that the current group is all that great either.

Got caught up on The World God Only Knows... even the villains are cute. :lol Surprised by how the giantess arc is turning out, it might actually be decent.

TWGOK is amazingly awesome.

Betting the Princess his parents want him to marry is a World Noble.
Apparently not, unless something changes in the next few chapters. As of now, the World Nobles/Tenryuubito/Celestial Dragons/whateveryouwanttocallthoserichbastards have nothing to do with this chapter. Which of course makes last week's cliffhanger kind of confusing.

EDIT: Actually, after reading the full chapter it seems like the princess isn't any specific person, but rather an ideal. So its still entirely possible that Sabo gets forced into marrying one of the World Nobles who are coming (perhaps that's why his Dad became extra persistent in bring him back). Guess we'll just have to wait and see either way.

Blecah and OP are out

Bleach: I hope Ichigo finishes off the fight, Rangiku and Kira better not intervene-but they will. :(

OP: Awesome cover.
Saboooooooooooo, come back! I guess a Sabo + Luffy reunion is next?

Bleach 404

Heh it was nice for the comedy between Isshin, Yourichi, and Kisuke. Kira and Rangiku...perhaps it will be come more interesting if both Momo and Hitsugaya awaken. too

Also nice to see Gin and Ichigo exchange swords again

One Piece 585

Didnt see Sabo being noble blood.

It could easily be a translation error but woah if true.

Good chapter for Bleach, when Kubo only have to focus on a few characters his writing gets better, Gin gonna fucking cut Rangiku down without any hesitation.

Hey, so I was rereading some of the One Piece chapters where Luffy saves Ace, and look at the bottom right panel, with Akainu:

http://mangastream.com/read/one_piece/45/13

Coincidence? Weird Translation? Foreshadowing some how?

You decide.

Fake edit: Whitebeard will die a loser!!! It's an absolutely fitting end for the king of trash mountain!
Well the other translations were:

Akainu: "Whitebeard" will die as a loser!!! It's perfectly fitting for a king of TRASH!!

Akainu: "Whitebeard is a failure going to his death! This suits a general of a bunch of scums!"

Akainu: Whitebeard will die as a loser and a failure!!! / A fitting death for the leader of such a pile of trash!!!

So its probably just a more liberal translation on mangastream's part. They're definitely not the most ....'consistent' of scanlations.

One Piece

I can't remember the last time One Piece bored me as much as these flashback chapters have. It was on such a great roll too. Hope we get back to Hancock soon.

Bleach

I should start timing how long it takes to read these chapters. Can't be longer than a minute or two.

Yup, I was going to add something like that about Oda's ability to introduce new "old" characters but I had to rewrite the post so that bit remained on the tip of my fingers.
It's just that this time, and I think we agree here, it seems a little too rushed. But we don't know when and how (I think "IF" is not in doubt here) the reunion will take place, so... let's wait and see. I don't know if I'd have enjoyed the flashback more had it been shown after the reunion, though.

Proving yet again that speculating based on spoiler information is a giant waste of time.

Bleach - Gin is such a mysterious character.

One Piece - I think Sabo just saved Ace and Luffy from slavery. I have a feeling that the World Nobles haven't come into play yet.

Yeah Bleach took fast, heh, though I need to go back through and pick my favorite panel. I did chuckle a bit though but overall about tow minutes to read through.

One Piece, Im shocked to see that you thought it was boring? (city description was the only boring part I thought)

Sabo = the Next Strawhat
I fully expect this to be stated alot now that Sabo's dream has been revealed.

Actually, his dream makes his chances more realistic than Hancock's or Jimbei's, pending his ultimate fate.
But still, its a tad too early for it (especially if he really was a last minute character addition).

Well I can guess where she got that upper body strength

She had a whip from the beginning, she just never used it as far as I can remember... but if she has it she must be able to use it, and she is, as we finally saw. I guess he just remembered that she should have been using the whip on occasion all along, or something? :)

You're right we haven't seen much of this kind of athleticism from her, so it was a bit surprising, but she does win her fights, and hasn't always relied 100% on spirits all of the time, so it wasn't completely out of nowhere, I think. It was cool to see her win so convincingly.

Maybe Lucy's Athleticism came from all that running away for being useless when she's spiritless.

One Piece

I think a Mariejois arc is coming up. Between the world nobles, Hancock, Fisher Tiger, slavery, Doflamingo and now this flashback, alot has been building up to a story arc about it. Plus history has shown that if a place is mentioned, Luffy will probably go there. Now the real question is whether it'll happen before or after the crew reunites and whether it'll happen before or during the Merman Island arc.

People need to calm down about the crew reuniting. Even without this flashback, its still probably a while aways. There's just too many plotlines popping up right now for it to happen just yet.

I can't imagine Luffy going anywhere without his crew. Rescuing Ace was one thing, but everything else is unimportant to Luffy.

Plus Mariejois is right next to Marine Headquarters and the admirals, who're still way out of Luffy's league. I don't see him facing them off again anytime soon.

I'm happy the fake spoilers posted turned out to be untrue. It would have been pretty cliche for Sabo to die by Bluejam and give Ace his hat. And the the Tenryuubito taking Dandan? That didn't make sense to me since she's the head of that house (and close to Garp).

Sabo being of noble blood was a nice twist. Not sure where this is going, but that's fine with me!
