For being such a Bowie fan, I'm embarrassed to say I've never seen The Man Who Fell to Earth. :/
Same :(

I have seen Walkabout though, and it is good.

I actually have Yi Yi on loan from the library now, having remembered you listing it in your top 10 before, Ulster. It's just so long, and I'm so often too intimidated to watch even normal length movies on DVD these days, being distracted by TV DVDs and such.

It is easily one of my all time favorite science fiction films. It usually bounces around Brazil, Man Who Fell to Earth (yeah the trailer is pretty hokey), or A Boy and His Dog. You guys need to see it!

ok catching up

pick 5 -

Old School - Todd Phillips

pick 6 -

Full Metal Jacket - Stanley Kubrick

pick 7 -

Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi - Richard Marquand

Tombstone - George Cosmatos (aka Kurt Russel)

I had to go read about this on Wikipedia; is that really true, that Russell actually directed Tombstone? I find this kind of hard to believe.

Damn it. I looked up my next pick on IMDB so I could add the director's name... only to find it was a director repeat. Gotta think of something else now.

This is the hardest part of the whole game...I have a couple I really wanted on my list but since I already took one...I am just hoping my next pick makes it.

ive got a mental list of about 5 or 6 movies left to choose from, but being that there are only 3 more rounds, deciding which three of those to put on the list is pretty hard, if no one else chooses them of course.

really bummed out that both amadeus and aguirre, the wrath of god were already chosen, but i was really surprised this hasn't been picked up yet.

Silence of the Lambs (1991) - Jonathan Demme

Are short films allowed or not? I thought they were all out, but maybe it's just anthologies of short films since I saw someone pick Le Voyage dans la Lune. I think I've got enough selections and safeties that I should be set for the rest of the picks, but there is a particular short film that I'd consider if the Children of the Corn series is stolen out from under me.

Also Vox, I'd move A Very Long Engagement down to the Vs in the alphabetical list.

Dunno. I really want to pick a TV miniseries, myself. :/

If you want to pick a short film it's ok, I won't stop you. I'm not to keen on the ideas of TV miniseries though, so they'll stay out.

Round 8: City Lights - Charles Chaplin

I have a feeling that I'm not balancing the new and the old well enough but I'm going to stick with what I love.
