Of the pre-DLC trophies, I only have one left to get: They Belong In A Museum. I'm not sure which treasures I'm missing; I hear there's one in the

, which I don't think I ever got, and I hear there's one involving the crane operator in 6-1. Anyone care to elaborate on these two?

Cool thing about the crane operator: you can snipe him right where you start the stage to skip the whole cage trap later on. Very convenient on Pro!

For the
Volcano one. There's a stone thing right past the bridge (curls up on the right side of the path after the bridge on the upper path), where the stone thing itself looks just like the bridge (breakable) shoot that to knock it down before you (as Chris) falls down, and then it makes a path you can jump to , to get to that treasure.

That probably made zero sense. D:

Do you really think your thin veneer of sincerity merits a "mature" response? I'm a little tired of these thinly-veiled attempts to put RE4 up and RE5 down, especially when for many pages earlier in the thread you were at least transparent in your intentions. This debate is old and dead; let's come back to it after RE5's had the luxury of aging as RE4 has enjoyed.

You just answered the crane one yourself, you snipe the majini off the crane to skip the cage and there's a gem waiting for you when you climb the ladder.

For the last boss one,
you need to shoot the column of rock that's on the pathway Sheva goes on, but BEFORE the bridge breaks and Chris falls. When you shoot it(just look for the sight to actually form the dot over the rock to show what's shootable) the rocks will crumble and you(as Chris, AI won't grab it) need to jump across the newly formed spot to a chunk of rock holding the last treasure.

I didn't mind the cage trap that much personally. At first I was annoyed but then I realized that she was out of harm's way and still helping me out pretty well ^^ So I waited till she got the dogs before releasing the cranes. The only part where I had a hard time was

when you have to fight the lurkers on your own. I kept dying with the third wave of the lurkers. Then I figured out that the best way to deal with that wave is simply to ignore it at first and push the countainer and open the door for sheva so that you can deal with them together as they fall through the hole on the roof lol

This is just the exhibition match before the big showdown. If this is just a taste of the type of passion and anger we can expect from the official vs topic we won't be disappointed.

Then i might as well put my two cents in. I really loved RE4 and I think RE5 was an amazing step forward becuase of what they added to make it a more worthwhile game . It was a really smart move to try co-op/multi play, which is one of the greatest things this gen has expanded on, with a new character since it was a new experience in RE all together. They also added good features, like Chapter Select(amazn idea) and Bonus features that gave us more reason to play the game again.

In the game itself, they gave us a little bit of everything and sometimes you don't realize it because of how it flows so well. It was very well designed. And the cut-scenes were top-notch and well executed , I never felt like i was being forced to watch a movie although there were tons of them. The gameplay was basically the same but more detailed.

The inventory system more more realistic, no more stopping in the middle of the action to organize and seperate your ammos, grenades, and herbs. You know you all did this.

In terms of location. I believe RE4's location made it a more creepier game overall, with all the castles, churches, etc. RE5 gave us a lot more open space so it loss more of that creepy feeling. It should've had lions too! My only real comlpaint.

In the end, I loved them both and RE5 was a good step, (bought a 360 to play RE5:D). Next game should take from both games since they both had their strong points.

You are pretty sensitive over this lol. I didn't mean to anger you but If you think that there are only 7.3 million Caucasian in Africa and 5 million of them are from South Africa what did you expect?

Whatever you say. I can't help it if people come in here and compare the two. I'm not the chairman of some fictitious RE4>RE5 committee so save your sob story for the next guy.

Whatever you say Neiteio. There are plenty of other people dogging RE5 way more than I ever have or ever well in the past 5 pages alone. You want me to be responsible for all of them when I'm not and are projecting their discontent for the game over to me. You seem so defensive of RE5 that you can't even think straight anymore.

Another question: if I get all the pre-DLC trophies, do I get Platinum, or do I now have to get the Versus trophies as well? (Some of which are really difficult.[/I])

I never thought I'd get Platinum in a game, so if I'm one trophy away that's kind of exciting. :D

Platinums only require the base game's trophies. No DLC trophies needed.

Platinum trophies only apply to on-disc content, so you could get it and have 90% trophies collected in the end.

You yourself said earlier in the thread the whole reason you were here being all pro-RE4 was because all the RE5 love upset you. The fact of the matter is, for every person hating RE5, there are five people loving it, and quite a few that prefer it to its predecessor.

Also, I've only refuted a couple people, you included, because they repeat themselves over and over and over again. I let the other naysayers hate the game all they want, so long as they're not using every post as an opportunity to either a) belitte RE5 or b) deny that's what they're doing. I understand and accept some people prefer RE4; I prefer aspects of it myself. What I don't understand and accept is your same ol' schtick.

Here's a challenge: talk about the game.

EDIT: Did you actually read the last five pages? It's all Versus love. There's maybe two or three negative posts out of several hundred.

Anyway, now that that's over and we can talk about the game again, I think we should get serious about organizing a GAF Versus meet-up some time soon, perhaps this upcoming weekend. A good opportunity for the PS3 users to take advantage of the new 16-player chat. :D

That reminds me, do the 360 and PS3 versions share leaderboards? Or do we only see the best players of each system when viewing any one version?

Now THAT I can almost agree with. I use to skip the custscenes after going through the first time until I unlocked her tribal costume. Me and my friend were highly distracted beating the game on pro and died several times from events because we couldn't stop staring at her. She is the most beautiful RE girl bar none. Jill and Ada just got passed over.

The real life model is gorgeous but her cheek bones are a little wider.

Since the past five pages have been a couple hundred posts loving Versus, I'm hoping we can take all that love and make a tourney. Any takers?

I will suck hard, but it'll be fun.

Well I'm back... looking for someone to play RE5 PS3 with me, RIGHT NOW. If you're interested, post in the thread, PM me or add me. PSN ID: xlildragon

Completely agree with the Sheva appreciation ^^ I read a review that was saying she looked like a LA porn star and I heartily disagree with that. I think she looks like an even hotter version of Halle Berry :D Quite possibly the hottest video game character ever or at least a strong contender for that title :D

Talking about cutscenes. There's something that bugged me but I it was most likely already answered before... Wasn't Jill supposed to be a hot short haired brunette ? When did she turn into a blonde haired ninja ? The ninja part could be explained by the mutation or something but the blond part ?? :puzzled:

At the start of 5-2, read the computer on the elevator platform. It explains the blonde hair is a side effect of Wesker's experiments. Also, from a symbolic standpoint it's a nice bit of parrallelism to Wesker with the blonde hair, underscoring that she's been changed as a person (albeit not beyond saving). The shot where Jill and Wesker stand side-by-side and Wesker says "Two on two" really drives home the symbol.

Whether or not one is better than the other is irrelevant, I feel. I had an awesome time with both games.

But if you guys want to keep splitting hairs, that's fine, but I think I'm out of this thread until then. It's so boring, and has been done countless times throughout the past hundred pages or so.

Talking about Excella. I really hated her character. At first, I thought she was Eastern European because of her name/accent. But her last name sounds french and I then figured it could that the voice actress for her (who I felt was the weakest of the bunch btw. The rest of the voice cast did a stellar job I believe) didn't do a great job and was actually trying to imitate a french accent but ended up sounding east european.

(And I liked sheva's boobs more anyway:D )

Yeah I already said that Sheva forced me to die during a certain QTE (you know the one :lol) because I was staring into her eyes :lol

I hope she becomes apart of the cast and isn't a Carlos or Billy.

She's actually Italian, and for me she sounded and looked the part. I thought she was an evil bitch and would've loved to see more of her, but in the grand scheme of things she was a means to an end for Wesker, who was the grand architect and rightfully the game's focus.

That makes a lot of sense. She really looks italian ^^ I have to hear her voice once more though before saying the VA did a good job. I do wish it's the last RE with Wesker though. He's a great villain but he is becoming RE's ganondorf ^^ ANd Unlike Zelda, the RE games have to be linked one to another storywise.
I really can't see how he could have survived that ending... 2 (actually I think 3) of the serum shots. A whole volcano worth of Lava. 2 rockets... Come on :D

If they do keep Sheva on, hope they flesh her out, her role in the game left much to be desired.

Yeah, Nina Fehren (who did the voice AND the mocap for Excella) is a stunner alright. I only wonder if she found her character's "assets" degrading.

On the other hand, Excella has enormous sociopolitical power and status (head of Tricell, member of the Global Pharmaceutical Consortium), so maybe that levels the whole depiction-of-women debacle.

What's interesting about her character is that although she has the looks of a classic femme fatale, she really doesn't have the attitude of one. If anything, she was the victim of seduction, not the perpetrator. At no point in the game, she tries to seduce the lead. Usually in games, it's more the other way around (The king's new wife is a witch who plots for the downfall of the kingdom and that kind of stuff and well for the femme fatale hitting on the lead, I guess Eve in MGS 3 :lol )

Had she been more likeable, she would be quite a tragic figure.

Her file makes it clear Wesker seduced her, but the way Excella says "I have my eye set on something much, much bigger" while stroking Wesker's chest makes me think she might've been working her charms on him as well.

Of course, the best part is when Excella says "I think I've proven myself worthy," and Wesker coldly grabs her face and studies it like a specimen in a lab, before saying "Maybe you have." Not only does it show just how little Wesker cares about anyone else, but it foreshadows how he'll use Excella later, as well as the whole concept of being "worthy" for Uroboros.

<3 RE5 cutscenes.

I remember that cutscene: in retrospect with him infecting her with Uroboros later one, it does sound eerie ^^ But I do think she was in love with him. Her becoming queen of that new world was like a bonus for her :lol Wesker's VA did a great job too... His lines were not that well written and kind of stereotypical more often that not but his delivery was very good.

Just got 1000.

Best RE game so far (IMO) and it is definitely a contender for GOTY.

Also, Sheva is really hot.
Congrats! Still trying to get the all-treasures trophy myself...

On another note, I beat Pro last night with a buddy in splitscreen. SO AWESOME. We failed exactly 50 times on 5-3; I kept accidentally killing Jill with the L. Hawk while trying to destroy the mind-control device. It was hysterical fun, and I saw all sorts of things I hadn't before; in addition to her throws, wall-running, flip-kicking, breakdance fighting, forward-fire and circle-fire, I saw Jill do a running slide where she slid across the floor on her butt while firing her guns. What's even cooler is I found you can still shoot the device while she's lying flat on the ground, a good alternative to pinning her down and pulling the device, IF you're a sound shot.

I love the Jill battle so much. The scenario, the music, the teamwork, the attempts to shoot the device and then throw her... I just love it. I love Jill's voice, too; that tomboy-ish "gruff" is sexy as hell. And the battlesuit is fucking awesome. So much win.
