Virtua Fighter modelling is nice, but the physics and feel SUCK ASS.

Everything is so floaty and and has no weight to it, and you never feel an impact with the strikes.

Tekken has "oomph" behind ever attack, and body's react the way you think they would to ridiculously floaty strikes instead of just floating in mid air. Not to mention the sound effects are a lot more satisfying.

Tekken blows Virtua Fighter out of the water in animation and physics, not even a competition.
Truth!

Though shinobifist will disagree for some inexplicable reason.

Going back a bit, why do some of you hate Juri's english voice? It fits her character near perfectly.

100% agreed.

VF also suffer from a severe lack of charisma. :p This to me is the biggest downer, not the bad physics or the lack of weight behind blows.Ryu is suddenly charismatic compared to Akira Yuki. :lol

this I disagree with you here, Tekken is very stiff, segmented and the juggles in Tekken are way floatier than VFs

especially punching the crotch on floaters,

launcher, juggle by punching in the crotch, juggle by punching in the crotch, juggle by punching in the crotch, juggle by punching in the crotch, juggle by punching in the crotch

oh oh back ache animation on the floor....

Virtua Fighter has better animation than Tekken

In real life Akira would win.

"good luck convincing your opponent to jump in on you while you have ultra :/"

Thousands of Sagats, Ryus, and Rufuses worldwide say this is not so difficult.

Tekken 6 has moments of better animation than Virtua Fighter 5

I can agree to this. I was quite impressed with the detail to some of the throw escapes in Tekken 6. But overall, when I see Virtua Fighter, I see what looks like real solid motion capture, put into a fighter. When I see Tekken, all the holdover, non-gender-specific, iffy robotic-motions that occur for shared movements make me wish I was looking at just about any other fighter than Tekken.

If SFIV had better cloth and hair animation (which does look to be improved, with things like Makoto and Ibuki's scarf/hair, respectivly), I would consider it surpassing SFIII in the animation department.

But until those days, it just has REALLY stellar 3D animations that emulate really stellar 2D ones quite well.

For instance, I hate Balrog most of the time, but I can't help but love a lot of his stupid looks. The look on his face as he starts a buffalo headbutt makes it look like he enjoys the hell out of doing it, and then when he does that ultra jerky victory laugh of his, he's no longer a simple opponent. He's someone I personally want to see humiliated! :lol

with Mak and U2 there's just one specific game changer to look out for

for now

But its most obvious use is as a counter to projectiles. Can't say that about Metsu Hadouken or Tiger Destruction.

And for the record, I like Juri's English voice. So she has a few odd lines, shouldn't the Japanese say similiar lines just as much?

And besides, if her english VA sounds like Rita Repulsa, that also means she sounds like Laharl from Disgaea (Same VA), thus, I'll just end up imagining her saying "OVERLORD! OVERLORD!" while stomping on noobs with her, to drown out the "YYYYY, UUUUUU!!"

Yeah, they should have equivalents in Japanese... I didn't really pick up what the JPN VA says, though... OMAE WA

I dont understand why Mak's U2 is not combo able like her bread and butter 3s way of doing it, it's not like the ultra does a shit load of damage.

It does a fair amount of damage when you juggle it, pretty good by SSF4 standards. Plus the juggle is free if the ultra connects, which is a pretty rare thing amongst ultras. This isn't 3s, she doesn't need to have the same combos...

From Azrael:

Guess I'll post my Nakky blog notes as well.

Says that with Hakan reveal, ALL characters have been introduced (ie no more hidden characters, but as always she never says anything concretely).

Endless battle has no win limit, but the counter only goes up to 3 digits, so aim for 999 wins.

All chars unlocked from the beginning.

Casual clothes were considered for Chun-Li's 3rd alt, but the idea didn't make it in the end.

Colors and taunts have to be unlocked, but will be much easier than in SFIV.

Can search for region for online battles, and set region preference in Fight Request.

Characters who already had a remixed theme in SFIV will have the same theme in SSFIV.

Not every character has 2 rival battles. Some only have 1.

No facial adjustments/tweaking for the female characters.

The soundtrack featured in the Collectors Package is only character themes. So there are no plans to release the BGM for the new stages on CD just yet, but she notes that they would like to at some point.

Can't search for specific player data, or various types of BP ranking like the arcade, but there are two new rankings - BP by region, and BP by character.

She says that ultra select will take place after you and your opponent have picked your character, and that the blind select will be turned off. In other words, blind select pick your character, see each other's character, then ultra select. Yes, I know this is in contrast to what s-kill said, and I don't know why. That's just what she's written.

No offline replays.

Dev blog will talk about character adjustments...but not in too much detail.

No forced install, but she later notes that load times are faster overall.

No plans for SSFIV on PC at this time.

BP, GP, titles and what not do not carry over from SFIV.

Dead body hits are still in.

If you have a SFIV save file on your system, then there's an 11th color...

Matching is done based on Player Points.

No new features for Training Mode, except that the CPU will remember your settings.

El Fuerte's moves aren't any faster.

Color Edit mode wasn't possible.

Install on 360 will probably be about 6GB

Character country flags have disappeared because they added the feature to display some preset phrases before a fight - the country flags were in at first but in the end the screen was too cluttered.

well, you can combo after ultra.

AA fukiage to [full bar]ultra to fukiage to ex tsuikage is still going to be 578 damage.

Because it does a shit load of stun.

Oh, and I like VF5 more, but T6 has better animation and just "feels" better overall.

I mean, I would have liked it, but it was technically a cancel. And SF4 has deigned that cancelling into Ultras is a no-no (Exception noted in Dan?), so I sort of expected it. The damage with followups is pretty respectable (580~ with one bar?), but i'd definitely trade 150-200 of that for a reliable way to combo it.

Great to have Azrael's translation. He didn't have any sentence fragments that begin with a SF4 character's name, like "Able to set 'play area' on the arcade request settings." I had to read that a few times to figure out what it meant =/

"Dead body hits are still in."

Yay!

Nice. I think the selectable pre-fight quotes are a good idea.

So folks, unlike what Seth said, it looks like you CAN counter-pick Ultras, so all the guys that didn't like that the Ultras were hidden before, there you go!

No offline replays makes no sense whatsoever since even the Dreamcast 3rd Strike had that, and being able to hit after the KO again is funny since they made such a point way back then to bring that up...

I doubt many people will decide on their ultras on their opponent's ultra choice, but rather their opponent's character. I always saw it similar to two sports teams playing in a tournament - your go in with your team fixed and once you know who you're facing, you game-plan accordingly. So I'm glad this is how they're doing it, if true. Capcom's decision to make you choose an ultra seems to make more sense this way.

for fuck sake!, how hard is it to implement a fucking replay system? Geeeeeeez, no wonder japanese developers are being left behind in the dust of western developers.
