Was it ever this nuts when TLoU came out? I remember chapter names leaking and people were all like abandonthread.gif

the strange thing about tlou chapter name leaks were one even tho some parts were accurate the way the whole game played out was so different. i think thats one of nds specialities taking these well tread ideas and tropes and somehow changing them enough to make them fresh/good

I dunno, I'd rather play this.

That's a really awesome gif. Zaps a dude with the arc rifle, pulls out revolver and shoots a grenade out of the air, and then unloads two more shots at another enemy from the same gun. That just looks like pure fun.

I'm sorry. I quoted the to the person who posted it as well. It's something I always like knowing since I often seem to get near the end of a game while tired and don't know whether to press on or wait until the next day.

Eh no worries. Maybe I'm overreacting lol. Lets move on to the hype of this amazing looking game.

Oh please, the homogenization in this hobby is far too accepted of a phenomenon. Part of the trait that many of these games share is the gritty brown/gray look.

Don't conflate the homogenization present in other games with artistic intent and motivated use of color in another game.

This doesn't look like "Generic Space Marine Shooter with Drab Colors #2054." There are enough videos and screenshots out there to show that The Order isn't just a brown game. It's establishing a specific time period and tone. It makes sense for 1886 era London to look gray and muted when it's foggy and wet out. Limiting the colors in the environment paints a specific atmosphere, and makes the blue of the arc gun or the orange of an explosion stand out even more. Other scenes show a subtle blue at dusk/night, bright orange at dawn, indoor areas with varied colors due to the fabrics and materials used, etc. It is, *shock*, a very cinematographic, film-like approach to the use of color.

Writing The Order off as yet another bland looking game based on one set of screenshots of a singular area/sequence of the game seems like unfair nitpicking, especially when all evidence points to the game being one of the more carefully considered from a visual perspective we've seen in recent memory. You can just not like how it looks, but bringing up the homogenization of the lazy and unimaginative use of color in games doesn't seem to apply to this specific game.

I'm still amazed by how fucking good killzone 2 looks. (for most of the time)

What's amazing about KZ2 was that the game received as much "concern" as The Order for the it's color palette, & it ended up being the most beautiful console FPS game last gen, & it released relatively early in the gen's cycle.

Shit was given to TLoU for their chest high walls as well.

Just for fun I went back and searched for some TLoU gameplay threads. Here are some wonderful impressions from the E3 demo:

My favorite part was the cover shooting and heavily scripted gameplay sequences with minimal input required

Man was that scripted as fuck. Hoping it's a little bit more open than what was shown.

Is it just me or does it seem incredibly linear and scripted?

That was way too scripted especially with the unavoidable hits.

Just seems too scripted for me to really get excited...

Graphics are really amazing but I'm not sold on the gameplay. It's your regular QTE-fest, mixed with some RE.

You could change "scripted" to "cinematic" and it'd be an Order 1886 thread haha

I am almost in tears when I look at this game. In my entire life I've never imagined games could look this good. It's simply mind blowing. I wish I had a ps4 to play it. The attention to detail is stunning.

Bravo RAD. I hope the game is good around it.

So, is there an alternate source where these images have been hosted? Till now, none of the images in the OP show up for me given the host site did not pass the muster against my institute's network filter.

The amount of shit posts in The Order 1886 threads is incredible.

If you don't have anything else than trash talk to come with, then please leave and don't fulfill disucssions with meaningless crap.

I think it happens with every PS exclusive title. Sometimes I wonder if its by fanboys or perhaps astroturfers. Either way, the fear is real which means this game will be successful.

It happens with any "console" exclusive title. Them system wars yo.

I'm wondering if the game has any light puzzle solving elements in it. I hope it does. As simple as investigating items and placing them somewhere would do.

You just admit that it's gray to the point of lightning and fire having color, elevates them to good artistic expression in your mind... That's not a good thing to be honest. Sure it's well made, but it's still the same gray, brown and gloomy blob that has been done a dozen of times. It is "lazy" and unimaginative to use the same shape that everyone else is using, even if the result is more smooth.

I'm expecting a mass of 6's and 7's

Yup. With Gies reviewing it at Polygon we know for sure that's almost a guaranteed 6, at most.

Other sites will take points off for lack of MP, or QTEs or Whatever, but I think we've been expecting that pretty much since it was unveiled. Still getting it day 1.

Is Gies really reviewing it? It should be entertaining. He has the right to his own opinion though of course and he might even like it. But his reputation took a even bigger nose dive to me after he reduced the score of MCC from a 9 to a 8 because it was broken.
