it's cg in real time.

Character models are impressive as hell

How do you know its real time?

Our game models and our cinematic models are one and the same, and everything is rendered real time in the engine as you play the game. The trailer we presented is a great example of that. What you saw is running in-engine, in-game with no gimmicks. These visuals are what you can expect of the final game when you play it.

They said it's the entire game, no gimmicks. I'm not sure how much wiggle room they have when they say that

But people aren't going nuts over a GIF, they're going nuts over the promise of direct feed gameplay footage tomorrow after waiting months for it.

It's like....if Scarlett Johansson was releasing a 1080p porno tomorrow and a 3 second gif of her in some lingerie got leaked on the internet. I wouldn't exactly be complaining about her being dressed.

Well to go with this comparison, I would say the leaked gif shows Scarlett playing chess. Or, nevermind I suck at that.

Pretty sure they talked about doing their cutscenes in real time and mostly seemless tranistions. The trailer released at E3 was real time apparently. They showed it to the press.

Anyway, looks incredible and I have a hard time believing it like you. I mean they could almost make an animated movie with these visuals...

It sure looks amazing. Not really much else to tell from those gifs. The QTE seems a little weird, why are there no button prompts for all the punching and kicking but suddenly for dodging? BF3 did it similar and I never liked it

Yes. I just feel like the majority of third person cover shooters just have no thought put behind the level design. It's basically 50 rectangular or square rooms with waist high cover thrown wherever the fuck cause it really doesn't matter.

It's been boring since the beginning of cover based shooters. What developers should be aiming for is making something similar to the multiplayer in the first gears of war. That shit was hot and hasn't been replicated since.

Idk, I'm playing ME2 right now and it seems pretty good for a somewhat cover based shooter. I like to run and gun in multiplayer games, but if it's linear, cover shooting isn't so bad. I'm not saying this game will break any traditions but I think, because we haven't had a true successor to the cover based system, to kill the negative grips around them, its the only reason why we dismiss them I guess. I think it makes a cinematic game like this more, intense. Some people may get bored of it, but it seems like a very good design to push the story along imo.

lol at the reactions. Overreacting?

I think they are nailing the atmosphere, looks great. For the rest (gameplay and story) too early to tell.

The gameplay in past RAD games were great i Donny know why that would suddenly change just because their next game is a third person shooter.

Hmm... that was the wrong thing to say, and not exactly what I meant, now that I think of it. I guess it's just easier to notice the gross stuff when everything else looks so good.
Yeah, I get that. It's a shame that it has some blemishes but this is a bit like inFamous to me, I wont be satisfied until I see it nice, crisp and 1080p on my television screen. I just found it odd there were so many posts about a bad row when the rest were gorgeous.

Guess people have different reactions to the hype train, you either dislike the unrelenting praise of an initial reveal or you hop straight on.

It's probably a counter response to people going nuts with excitement over a gif that shows cover shooting and QTEs. It would be pretty sad if this 'NEXT GEN' game revolves around 2 pretty lame/boring/uninspired gameplay mechanics. It's like AAA developers have 2 options these days: make FPS, make 3rd person cover shooter.

A counter response to people getting excited. I don't even....

One thing is for sure, judging by these GIFs I'm glad I'll be playing this on a plasma with great black levels. I can't imagine playing a game that dark on a crappy backlit LCD.

I think most of those posts were just lighthearted joking.

I know this game is SUPPOSED to be gloomy, but I'm kind of sick of gloomy environments in games. I hope there's some variety. This is an alternate universe London, right? Give us a little sunshine and some jetskis or something.

so far so good ;) loving everything, now for some actual gameplay footage, not sure I can wait till the deadline, need more....... leaks!!

There were just as many AAA platformers and open world games than 3rd person shooters last year. There are plenty of other genres out there for you to enjoy.
