The Player 1 Podcast Topic

It might be a setting in Hangouts or something. Because the audio is fine. No idea. I'd put some effort into correcting it if there were a single interesting thing about the video.

Do it for me. I always watch the videos even though I keep getting distracted by the little things like Greg having no eyebrows and those ugly wall "decorations" behind Phil.

Alao Mik check out the Nintendo Girls Club on youtube and then do an image search on the host. That should do you good.

I have eyebrows! My hair just happens to be exactly as pale as my skin.

Funny no one remembered what the original Steel Diver was like and made no attempt to look it up either. It's 2D sidescrolling, FYI.

I think that's how much anyone cared about the original steel diver. This one though, is actually pretty cool. I'm not terribly interested in picking up the full game with so many other things coming out shortly but it was fun for the hour or so I put into online multiplayer.

Creepy question: What's Dana been playing? Her last appearance, if the website search is of any merit, was Episode 287 (04/23/12) – The New Zealand Story. I am just about to finish FFVI for the first time, and since I'm trying to play more RPGs since I'm very deficient on that genre, I'm wondering if there's anything newish I should play or if I should finally tackle Chrono Cross. And, since Dana is the podcast's RPG expert, I figured I would ask.

Dana does enjoy the occasional RPG, but she would hardly qualify herself as an expert. That said, she hasn't really had much time for a big RPG lately (neither of us has...you know, kid and all). She did play through Gone Home, which she rather liked, and she's quite into FTL. Other than those two games, she was getting well into Pokemon Y before being distracted by Link Between Worlds.

Bravely D Chapter 5 is a bit of a kick in the teeth, but chapters 1-4 make for a satisfying enough 30-hour experience.

Chapter 5 was enough to make me stop playing and switch to Zelda instead, but I'm back into it now.

I don't really know that devoting an hour of show to an hour of game would work either, though. I suppose there are a few things we could talk about--maybe we can just do a little post-show chatter.

Why doesn't polygon do a running live blog of game launches like this? Give a game an 8.5, check out our live blog of how nobody can actually play the game.

That solves the problem of not having a day 1 review and still covering the server issues.

Yeah I really think continuing coverage and day 1 impressions are the way to go with online games.

Daniel Bloodworth is the GameTrailers reviewer I was referencing during the show, btw. I couldn't remember his name while I was talking about it.

thats what I want. A post-show discussion about thoughts on everything about it. Do it!

This. I feel it hasn't got enough credit in the games media. It's a wonderful piece of DLC. It touches on the same themes of Gone Home but was way more relatable and effective, at least for me. Left Behind deserves the same or even more praise than Gone Home.

Yeah, I would actually like to talk about that, because I think I have a slightly different take on it than I've seen others state.

Hey, I know the host of the show pretty well. If you want I can bend his ear and see if we can get the air time.

Doesn't Dragon Quest 9 have a bunch of online stuff and downloadable quest? Thats a sad loss from Nintendo shutting down
... online services for the DS and Wii.
I never played it but figured I would get to it eventually

I could do with a full Rocky 4 podcast.

The man ended the Cold war with his fists.

Also Paulie's robot is not the best part of Rocky 4, it is Vince Dicola.

The content is probably already on the cart, but obviously the shutdown would still make it inaccessible.

You have to imagine that the game will end up on a smartphone or handheld at some point in the future

Vince Dicola did some of his best work with Rocky 4. Same with ol Robert Tepper.

I don't care about Arthur but P1P (Mike especially) seems obsessed with him for some reason. It's kind of creepy.
Mike can correct me if I'm wrong here but I believe he requires a certain amount of negativity in his life for sustenance. Arthur happens to be a rather reliable source that has served him well over the years.
