Also the argument for NBA not being the sports game of the year is that the NBA is shit.
Weird, never ran into that. Wonder if we started the league after that shit had been figured out, usually we wait a couple weeks but I didn't think we did this year.
Apparently one of the fixes was that everyone needed to choose a set of standardized default camera settings.
Don't worry Mike, Kinect was dropped from Ryse altogether, so you couldn't even play it with Kinect if you wanted to.
Never thought I'd long for the heady days of kickstarter begging. Then patreon showed up and took the 30 days of hat in hand model and extended it to panhandling ad infinitum. The only positive is that I can't conceive of any way for this to get worse.
Maybe Naturebox could make a kickstarter to finance their Patreon push.
Is there a Squarespace template for that?

I hope those guys are able to sustain and not have it become a RebelFM-type $30k-in-a-sinkhole deal. But honestly, if you like the content someone's producing and want them to continue doing more of it, why wouldn't you want to help out the process?
I dunno. I have a really, really negative reaction to Patreons for some reason, and I can't figure out why. So I don't back any Patreons, period, and I wish I knew why it brings up such a negative reaction in me that I never felt as strongly towards Kickstarter, for instance, or basic donations.
Luckily we accept show support in the form of continued listenership, telling a friend about the show, tweeting in a question, fan art, iTunes review, donation or Patreon - any way you want to do it. Or none of those things.
Totally understand. I support two Patreons and do click links to advertisers/use show-supporting coupon codes for businesses that advertise on other podcasts.

mik, we know how you feel about Arthur Gies, but how do you feel about Tom Chick?
Every year the Tom Chick top 10 draws out the same shock and anger from people on GAF who have never heard of him, but for some reason I feel that I can at least respect Chick as a critic.
I don't know if that's because the dude has been doing game reviewers forever and I can at least respect his views even if I disagree with them (ie, Forza Horizon 2 is a 1/5 while The Crew is his GOTY), but I just don't have the same instant-eyerolling that happens when I read a Gies piece.
Heh, I feel like Gies tries to hide behind purple prose quite often to try to deflect any criticism of his own criticism.Chick's who Gies wishes he was, but while Chick will give well-reasoned arguments as to why he feels a certain way, Gies will always, always fail to justify the shit that comes out of his mouth.

Yeah, he was battling cancer. There was a crowdfunding thing to help him out IIRC.Wasn't Tom really sick or something? Or am I misremembering? I used to read his stuff all the time, but it kind of fell out of my rotation.

Maybe I'm not quite up on the memes and such, but that is mostly Ryan Davis (black hair, full beard) vs. Tom Mc Shea (glasses) with occasional words from Peter Brown.I don't know about that
