Not really. I mean, I accept that I am a fan of an unconventional sport that is often the punchline for jokes and I realize there's a certain amount of grief I should reasonably expect to take when I proudly advertise my fandom.

the natural reaction from a normal pony fan should just be to laugh and be confident in their knowledge that they are not one of these deviants

but instead every single pony fan goes nuts rather than admitting the obvious

i mean sonic fans dont pretend there isnt a creepy, disgusting underbelly of that fandom which draws disturbing, filthy pictures of sonic and his shitty friends

Duki brings up a good point. Pandaman openly admits he is attracted to the ponies and wants to have sex with them. And in a strange way, I respect him for not giving a shit about what people think of his fetish.

Just cut the shit out about me and everyone who does like it being creepy, fat, lonely, socially inept losers. There is no need for that shit. Attack the show and stop making personal attacks.

I'd put K-ON as about equal with MLP actually.

Adventure Time is definitely better than both. Haven't seen anything else mentioned.

Why is this one of the most polarizing shows of all time? People seem to either love it so much that they hype background characters, create fan material, and jack off to pony characters that they usually wouldn't jack off to; or they despise it with a visceral, illogical hatred.

I don't get this, either one. Can't this show just be a great cartoon?

What exactly motivates people to either extreme spectrum? That's all the reactions I see from this.

Why does a show get this much of a reaction from both sides, when other shows like Avatar: The Last Airbender, Gargoyles, Batman: The Animated Series, etc. all are recognized as being fantastic cartoon series yet don't get a similar love and hatred?

Maybe it's because the show is for little girls I guess.

It seems to be a well made show for girls. Well animated, makes for good gifs.

I find it intensely boring. I've never made it through ten minutes of an episode.

If somebody else likes it, I don't see any reason to assume that they're lying about why they like it, and are actually some sort of furry deviant. I think furries have kind of ruined the internet that way; we all got so shocked at the furry stuff that we're on the lookout for it anywhere there are anthropomorphic animals. Oh, you like that cartoon with animals in it? You must be one of those furry freaks!

Space Marines are nothing if not an embodiment of adolescent power fantasies. If a teenage boy thinks a cyborg quasi-undead Space Marine in an ambulatory coffin can catch a pony, then by God that pony is gonna get caught.
 
I actually tried to watch it once, just because people assured me that underneath all the stupid internet fandom was a well made show.


...it's not funny or charming at all. I liked Fosters, thought PPG was hilarious, but this just wasn't funny. The "humor" and "charm" felt like low-grade "wacky" humor in place of any kind of real jokes.

I am a mild brony (apparently we don't exist). But putting that aside, it annoys the SHIT out of me when people walk into a thread, literally insult people for liking a certain thing, and then attempt to counter-defend themselves with "Hey man, why are you getting so defensive about this? It's just the internet/a cartoon/a discussion, chill out."

Shut the fuck up. Seriously. You're making broad and presumptuous generalizations about generally well-adjusted people, and it's incredibly hypocritical considering most of the people on this forum, OT or not, play video games at least once in awhile. If someone came up and said anyone who played video games was a fat, socially incapable loser, would that be okay? They can't see the value in video games, and you can't see the value in a television show, and that's okay, but don't be an asshole about it.

Considering i outright hate furries... yeah i think im better than them. So i watch a show about ponies. It really isnt any different than watching Tiny Toons or hell even Animaniacs. Anthropomorphic characters are fine... until the sick furries and sonic fans want to have sex with them. Then i say

The animation was great and you know what, the story and characters weren't too bad either but it wasn't compelling enough for me to continue watching the series. Let the My Little Pony fans do their thing. As long as they aren't doing anything wrong, they're fine in my book. They're not being racists, they're not breaking any rules, they're not killing anyone, etc and all that jazz.
