The most surprising part of this entire thread is the fact that people plug their Pulse 3D dongles into the front of their consoles. WTF?

Also, fake.
I do that because I use the headset on my PC as well and it's way easier to leave the 2 back ports for charging cables and the front for the headset dongle so I don't have to fuck around in the back the console.

Is it really slim?
This slim thing... this is one of those times that the media/gamers call something that was never even announced, then when it's revealed they get disappointed for expectations they had no business setting to begin with.

I said this weeks ago I think, that It won't surprise me if the PS5 is basically nearly identical to the current PS5 digital. This is a new version of PS5, simple as that, and while I don't believe that is the real thing, it wouldn't surprise me if it was.

And for those calling it ugly, I would say these things, when leased...always seem to look at their worst, same thing happened with the PS4slim and even the pro. Having said that though, the Ps5 is the ugliest console sony ever made. Its only saving grace is the digital su. I can't wait for the PS6. I doubt most have noticed that Sony has an odd and even number tradition with regard to design.

Odd (1, 3,& 5) curves, even (2 & 4) flat.

RUMOR: Leak from China claiming they got packaging for the new PS5 with detachable disc drive (unknown if true)

-The height is about 5 cm lower, but the thickness is the same, not slim, but a renewed model
- Added a black slit to the cover. Abolition of changing clothes?
- Two Type-C ports on the front

To be clear, this doesn’t at all look or sound like PS5 Slim. It sounds like a slightly smaller version of the current model.

Great move to get to one SKU. this isn't a slim. Imagine trying to manage manufacturing splits of digital vs disk.

This allows top to bottom control of everything from manufacturing to packaging but just have a separate drive.

I suppose the only concern from the consumer is how many drives do Sony manufacture and do they ensure they are manufacturing the same ratio of drives as the split from the current digital & disk version.

Could be a pretty dirty way of forcing people to go digital if they don't supply enough drives.

I wouldn't be surprised if they did bundles. It would take that much work to make two different boxes.

You just cracked Sony's master plan. T be honest,I am surprised this wasn't done from the start of this gen. $399 PS4 DE, $100 disc drive add-on. You can't complain that it doesn't have a disc drive because well, there is one for sale and if you buy it then you are spending the same amount of money as an XSX cost, and on its own is on par with the XSXand over 2x more powerful than the XSS while being only $100 more expensive.

Probably too risky. Must have not wanted Xbox to make a video showing how easy it was to put a disc in an XSX.

I wouldn't be surprised if they did bundles. It would take that much work to make two different boxes.
Naaa... Sony is peripheralizing the disc drive. Basically going to take a $30 product and sell it for $100. like how they took $30 controller and sell them for $70.

Making $70 right off the bat from those that want to use a disc drive would be too good to pass up. Doesn't help that they don't even want you getting a disc drive if they have their way. When we see bundles though, they most likely would be from retailers.

Now just announce it Sony so I can buy one.
It seems the split in the middle is for the disc drive, that keeps packaging down so you don't need a full sized plate.
Also is the whit part glossy now?

So 1 SKU remains that will act like a digital and Disc version ? 399? Pretty smart to be honest .
people who want to use discs will have to cough up another $50-100 :messenger_tears_of_joy: if you want a PS5 and in the year 2023 still want to use ancient technology then you better grab a PS5 asap before these models disappear because with this new model Sony is making physical game buyers pay more. good strategy to push people to digital and prepare them for the all digital PS6 lol

50-100 is nothing with the saving you will make long term with buying physical copies. In the uk for example a brand new game can cost £70 on digital stores, physical copy can go as low as in the £50s.

Yeah, no way I am going digital only on console when it's this way.
At least on xbox you can buy cheap keys from some places but still if much prefer to have disk for those games that I'll complete then trade in.

If I'd got games like ratchet and clank, Final Fantasy xvi, Star wars jedi survivor etc digitally at 70 pounds I'd be gutted.

Play em, trade em. If it goes that way I expect services like game pass will get larger and larger.

Same in Poland.
New games are cheaper physical. usually 10-15$ cheaper + you sometimes get stuff with the game... own it.. and can return to 1.0 if you want to.

Imagine this was cheaper than digital.... Saints Row actually got the most stuff (even a bandana lol) and it was.. 10$ lol.
I mean... look at this vibe. You unwrap a new game, sniff if and let's go. It feels less disposable. Feels more like "yeah, let's get into this game" rather than "let's check out this 1$ GP crap"

So it's very similar to the existing PS5, only seemingly without the option to help de-uglify it with some black cover plates

We don't know that. The covers might be replacable.
It's the same ps5 but a bit smaller. Looks like the usual mid gen slim honestly.
I like the look. At least its not a box

Vast majority of us are adults now who care about the aesthetics of our living spaces. Until they just design a black or white box that fits in and is totally unnoticeable I won’t be buying one.

Cat Good Luck GIF by Wayra

Missing out on all the fun because it’s not 100% unnoticeable is crazy lol. Guess you also don’t have a tv in your room. Hideous black object in the room. Can’t have a sofa too, somehow it’s too noticeable 🥹.

Good luck with your empty room while the rest of the world enjoys all the objects that make those rooms fun 😁.

How exactly is Sony making disk users pay more? If this diskless PS5 is 399 and the disk drive add on is 100, then the pricing hasn't changed at all. I am going to give you at least enough credit to not have to post Sony's PS5 digital and disk drive version pricing here. You know what they are lol.

Imagine if they took the controller out and reduced the price of the console by $70. You heard it here first folks, Sony is making controller users pay more with this new console. Get the fuck out of here.

Edit: this is actually a big win for physical media because it means you can buy an entry level PS5 at 399 and actually upgrade it with a disk drive later instead of being stuck with a gimped unit for all time that will never read a disk in its life "trapping" the user. Assuming the drive does not cost over $100 it will not even make you "pay more" than a current disk drive model.

That's the worst comment I've seen all year.
How is this your hobby?
Why are you even here?
Are you really playing any video games?

And if only thing that fits in your living room, is a square, plan, ugly box... then you have some décor problems and you are boring adult. The thing we never wanted to be as we grew up remember ?
adult does not have to mean "boring, serious, stylized, calculated".
Thank god it's not just another black box. Get a series X and never stop cleaning fingerprints from it.

edit: honestly, the more I look at your comment, the more disgusted I am. You should not be visiting this forum. It's a forum for video game hobbyists. Not boring adults.

Just a suggestion. Stop claiming you have inside knowledge on this if you don't have the receipts.

Pretty sure we haven't seen any insiders claim that it's going to be 500$ with the disk drive selling separately for 100$.

the white is not the problem with the PS5 lol but i do hope they sell a black model or let us buy plates.

This is subjective but I always thought PS5 was substantially less ugly and modem-looking with a pair of black plates slapped on. The reverse Oreo color scheme is just bad (in my opinion)

Let's first see what the drive costs. If i was Sony the drive wouldn't be a cent less than 149,99 Euros.

If I were to buy this console at say £399 and wanted to play discs then I'd have to pay more....wouldn't i?

Not the rumors that I've seen. Either show the receipts or please stop spreading false information.
Dude chill the fuck out lmfao. We kinda know that the disc drive is optional so we'll pay more. Do you think it'll be any less than $50 or more than $100? 50-100 is a guess. And it's not crazy to think that PS6 could be all digital. Last gen and current gen we've had consoles that are all digital and digital sales are rising. Sony/Microsoft stand to make a lot of money by making all digital consoles so it'd make sense to ditch disc drives next gen.

If i'm spreading false information then we might as well not bother having threads about unreleased products. Shut this down and do the Switch 2 thread as well! :messenger_unamused:

Nah your the one claiming it would be 500$ with a 100$ disk drive. Haven't seen any rumors saying that.

Anyways your the one flipping our here. You need to relax if this does well.

Doesn't the PS5 disk version currently cost 550$ in some places?
I think the normal non offer prices are still 550 and 450 DE
Fair enough, if the drive is over $100 we have a very bad situation
Many people already buy digital only and an expensive drive makes sure the amount increases. More digital = more money for Sony.
It would actually be very clever. Simply removing it could cause a shitstorm, an expensive drive not so much. And when the PS6 comes SOny can say, we decided to go digital only, because PS5 was 80-90% digital by the end of the gen

I'm not claiming shit. It's just a guess isn't it? I don't know shit obviously. Back off dude

It didn't sound like a guess.

I'm flipping out? Sure :messenger_tears_of_joy: We're in a thread about an unreleased product so nobody really knows what they're talking about. It's all guesses. What does it matter if the console is $500 or $400 and if the disc cost $50 or $100

You're the one coming in saying "provide receipts" and stop spreading false information.

Oh shut up. You're going on ignore.
