The second Wachowski filmmaker sibling has come out as trans.

The Daily Mail is the absolute fucking worst, wish that paper would just die off.

Wish her all the best, sucks that she wasn't able to come out on her own terms.

Oh God, the fucking Mail. It's not going to die off anytime soon either because it has the most popular English language newspaper website in the world. And that's on you America, it's not just a British problem anymore. Stop clicking those articles.

I read this criticism back when the show came out and I still don't get it. There is no correlation implied within the show that C-section = evil bitch.

Well if you don't see it then I guess it's a non-issue!

Or... The C-Section wasn't needed to show the connection that the mother had between her baby and the name, but they threw it in there for that specific woman because...

Is there some stigma about C-sections I'm unaware of? I'm Australian so maybe I'm missing something culturally. I was born via C-section (and also happen to be trans), should I hate my mother?

Why are you asking me that? Trying asking the Wachowskis. They're the ones who put that shit on screen.

I'm asking you that because you seem offended by the scene, as if it negatively depicts women who get C-sections. I apologize if I seem insensitive, it's coming from ignorance rather than malice.

You did good with the tile, Varity on Facebook misgenders the first one by still saying brothers rather than siblings.

wow..

that is like... incredibly rare for both to be right?

Im surprised it took so long to be honest. I would have thought since the first came out, it would have been easier for the 2nd to come out too. Unless their family are shit, which would have prolonged it.

I honestly abhor the fact that trans is seen as as a stigma. Really sad that the world have no simplest decency in regards to... humans at large.

Fucking should have gone with Wachowski sisters from the very start.

Fuck Daily Mail ad Fuck this world.

Good for her.

I hope they can go back to their glory days. The first Matrix was exceptional for its time. I haven't really enjoyed most of their latest works.

Hadn't heard about the UK story. Just further cements everyone at the Daily Mail are a bag of cunts.

Not a single decent person there it seems...

Reminds me I need to get around to watching Speed Racer.

I love that the film that birthed the term 'red pill' was made by two transgender women, that whole subculture needs to die already.

Oh yeah, and Fuck The Daily Mail.

Best show of last year, and after only one season has firmly cemented itself in the GOAT tier right next to Twin Peaks. Anyone who says otherwise is a dirty stinky unwashed liar.

I was massively skeptical after watching the horrific jupiter ascending but sense8 was a masterpiece.

Fun story: The kids at my school who were raving about The Matrix back in the day were also harrassing every student that liked anime because it was stupid in their eyes.

I haven't seen Sense8 so I don't know how it's specifically presented, but there definitely are people who think C-sections don't count as "giving birth", and also that the only reason people have C-sections is because they're lazy and too much of a failure to give birth "properly"

(My girlfriend reads various blogs from women who have babies and blog about being a mother, and the comments on those things, man, you think comments about video games can get bad)

Good for her and fuck the Daily Mail.

Prob off topic but this reminds of Lana's racists comments a few years back. I hope her politics changed

"Akira?? I bet that's got schoolgirls who transform into miniskirts in it."

Good for them.

I hope this means, with their personal lives sorted (if that's the right word), that we see something new from them soon.

And I don't mean that rubbish Netflix show of theirs.

I genuinely feel dirty if I unknowingly open a link to their website.

Horrid from top to bottom.

I've very happy for them. Dealing with this affliction is hard. Your family and friends don't or wouldn't understand, so you just suffer silently. I'm so glad that they feel they could both let the world know who they are. IT may take a few years, and it may take longer, but nobody should have to suffer with gender dysphoria. If I wasn't afraid of losing my way of life I would've begun transitioning long ago, but I live in a conservative area and...well, it'll be obvious for too long once I start, so I'd have to pick up and leave, start over completely.

All the while listening to people like who unironically get their news from places like the Daily Mail claim we're all just insane, or pushing false equivalences about us. Congratulations and welcome, Lilly.

For some reason I had thought they were both already open about their gender identities. Guess I blurred some things in my head. But good for Lilly, though it's a shame it had to be done under media pressure rather than fully her own readiness. Hopefully she can be more comfortable though. I'm sure it helps having a sister with similar experiences. And I hope the pair can inspire some positive change in public view of gender, or at least help some others feel confident in expressing who they are.

In her statement Ms Wachowski claimed she was forced into 'outing' herself after approaches from several media organizations, most recently DailyMail.com.

DailyMail.com categorically denies this.

A spokesman said: 'As Ms Wachowski says herself, we were not the first media group which approached her and we made absolutely clear at several points in the conversation that we were only interested in doing the story with her cooperation and had no intention of publishing anything without her consent.

'Our reporter was extremely sympathetic and courteous at all times.

'We are baffled as to why Ms Wachowski has reacted as she has but we wish her well with her journey.'

I think I know which person to believe.

Goddamn that bit about the teacher is fucking heartbreaking. :( Why the fuck do people have to be such scumbags to people just because they are different?

Hooray! Now maybe having that monkey off her back can result in better films.

The evidence suggests that the path from being two blokes to two women hasn't improved their quality but hopefully the transition was disruptive and with equilibrium achieved the trend will reverse.

That said while many of their films are actually pretty messy (Speed Racer, Cloud Atlas, Jupiter whatever) going right back to the Matrix sequels, I've always found them interesting and often visually arresting.

Thinking about it Bound with its triumphant lesbian couple is bound (sorry!) to get reappraised thematically in light of how things played out for them gender wise.

Curious that both became trans. Good for her and fuck the Daily Mail.

I am eagerly awaiting season 2 of Sense8. I loved season 1, flaws and all. Easily with my favourite show of 2015 and it one of the most powerful scenes I've seen.

Ctrl + F: Banned...no results! Good job

GAF!

Obviously the Daily Mail is terrible, but if the Wachowski's are ever OK with it I'd love to hear their story, it seems fascinating. And of course, good for them.

Transgendered*

TDM is an atrocious rag.

Transgendered is incorrect too. Here's actually GLAAD's guide on this:

DO describe people who transition as transgender, and use transgender as an adjective. Lilly Wachowski is a transgender woman. DON'T use transgender as a noun. For example: "Lilly Wachowski is a transgender." DON'T use "transgendered." Transgender never needs an extraneous "-ed" at the end. DON’T use "transsexual" or "transvestite."
