Cool, the Wachowski sisters have made some fucking good movies.

Cloud Atlas is legit y'all give it another chance.

Never got around to even giving it a first chance. I keep meaning to but just haven't.

Matrix and V for Vendetta were really good though.

Speed Racer is one my favorite movies ever! I had such low expectations, but was utterly blown away.

It's great. I saw it at the cinema and two more times at home in the past months. Though the Wachowski sequences are the parts I liked the least.

Bound is my favourite movie of theirs and is a top 5 movie for me.

I know it's early days but I'm not sure why this isn't a bigger deal. I hate that an athlete from the 70s is somehow more relevant and newsworthy than the director(s) of arguably the most influential movie of the last 20 years.

i think it has alot to do with the fact that the athlete seeks the spotlight while the director is more private.

The show has 8 leads. It establishes them, their problems and personalities and gives you a vague sense of their psychic link. Then it starts telling the story, and picks up it's pace dramatically.

If anyone watched the first few and then dropped it, I'd urge you to revisit it.

My favorite. Cant wait for season 2.

Probably because their biggest movie was almost twenty years ago and everything has been disappointing since. Caitlyn being part of the Kardashians makes her wayyy more relevant.

Absolutely. The show becomes so badass.

It's 10000x the Kardashian effect.

Putting aside the trans angle, I find it utterly shocking that Jenner is this relevant celebrity in the modern age. That minor celebrity from decades ago??

Itd be like MC Hammer becoming highly relevant all of a sudden.

Good for her, good to see this happen. Daily Mail continues to be an abomination

Also, I like Cloud Atlas more than the Matrix

come at me

Good for her! I wonder if there's a link, what with her sister having come out as well.

And fuck the Daily Mail. It's a rancid tabloid shitrag with extreme delusions of class.

The British tabloid press has always been insanely transphobic. I once read an excerpt from Caroline "Tula" Cosseys book about her forced outing by them. Absolutely disgusting.

So how does it work at long term, were they sisters for years and now she is just telling others or she was her bother for years and then realized the contrary? What I'm trying to ask is: do you always know once you are an adult?

Short answer to the ultimate question: no.

Long answer: everyone figures it out differently, and may even remain questioning. Some know since they're children, some realize when they hit puberty, some take even longer for one reason or another.

I would argue that Sens8 is totally on topic. The Wachowskis are pushing boundaries with that show.
I loved it. It has a few kinks to work out, but I love the idea surrounding it, the super diverse cast, and how it just makes me feel really good about connecting with other people.

It's by far the best thing they've come up with since The Matrix.

Trans people suffer from the worst abuse humanity has to offer, we need to be doing everything we can to change our society so that people can feel comfortable and unafraid to be who they actually are. Especially if they're already suffering from the feeling of being in the wrong body.

Biologically or psychologically, is it common for siblings to have gender transition like that? I wonder if they both figured it out or decided on it together.

It's quite fascinating. Good for them though!

I kinda want them to re-release the Matrix blu-ray set with The Wachowski Sisters in the directed by credits. Just to make it truly historical

Interesting to think of the themes in The Matrix now in light of this, like the feeling that something isn't quite right with reality, a deeper truth about who you really are.

Jupiters Ascending was a film I found particularly bad, but I've nothing against the Wachowski's. I do have a thing against The Daily Mail, one of the worst newspapers in the history of humanity.

Was thinking the same thing

I've heard that Lana said that The Matrix was probably subconsciously a trans narrative. I can't find a citation but I think it was referenced on a Match 3 podcast episode.

The character Switch (you know, the not like this gif woman) was originally written as a man in real world turning into a woman in Matrix.

And hell, the character was named Switch.

Maybe an inappropriate thread to ask this but how was their Netflix show? Haven't really heard much about it

Along the same lines as most here. The show was good but there's still improving to do. Story was interesting and the characters had nice depth. The dialogue needs a lot of work though, some really cringe worthy stuff at times. I gave it a pass still since the overall plot was really interesting and the show does tackle some really difficult themes.

Nah, I'm pretty sure she'll just go on Gaf and say "it's awesome".

I was more taking umbrage with the idea that it's the non trans partner who gets it worse.

Especially given that Lily was forced put due to tabloid harassment. Same tabloid harassment that drove another trans woman to suicide.

Weird. Not being trans, just having two siblings go down the same path.

Also, you know what I absolutely hated about Sense8? The scene with them being born. Out of all of them it shows the cold woman unaccepting of her daughter's trans nature to be the one that opts for a c-section birth.

The Wachowski's can fuck right off with that bullshit.

For real. Easily one of my favorite movies of that decade.

The Wachowski Sisters are awesome.

When will we see Sense8 S2 BTW? I need more Van Damme in my life.

I read this criticism back when the show came out and I still don't get it. There is no correlation implied within the show that C-section = evil bitch.
