Who paid you to grab Dr. Pavel?
Watching Last Exit to Springfield on FXX and they actually cut out Mr Burns' Grinch speech. That's just terrible.

They cut off the "...leaving us relatively dry." "Relatively?" "Well, there's bound to be some splash-back." in Lisa's Rival. I love that line.

Good to know we don't cut our shows just to fit in one more advert over here.

Channel 4 in the UK love to cut jokes out. The Cartridge Family was just on, at the end they cut out Marge seeing her reflection and deciding to keep the gun - it goes from her opening the bin to her walking away to the Avengers theme music. Earlier in the episode they cut some prostitutes out completely. I can't think of any other examples right now, this just seemed like a good time to moan about it.
Not The Simpsons examples: Any use of the word 'porno' in the episode of Friends where Phoebe appearing in porn is a subplot, any suicide attempts in the episode of My Name is Earl where he tries to help a guy he made suicidal. These episodes are just a mess at times.

Yup. There's a good reason as to why I refuse to watch any episode on that channel. Even the most innocent jokes seem to get the axe. Only thing I watch on it is Bob's Burgers, due to the benefit of it being on late night telly where there's none of that.

They also cut out "Stop stop! He's already dead!" from Homie the Clown the last time they aired it. Was disappointing. Also the airing of Boy Scoutz N The Hood from the other night was the syndication edit.

So in before "ew, modern", I really liked this little visual bit from Bart's New Friend in the latest season:

The way homer moves with the chair, it's exactly how a kid would do it! So I thought it was a really nice short piece worth giffing :)

My eyes! The goggles do nothing! Just kidding. It's kind of charming.

Man, that's a joke that didn't age well.
It really is. Was Comedy Central really that hated back then? I know they didn't have a lot of original stuff at the time but still, neither did Nickelodeon when they started. I don't remember a lot about CC back in the mid-90s except for reruns of MST3K... or was it just MST?

Fuck, I remember when it was called "HA!"

When that episode aired it was still about 3 or 4 years before either South Park or The Daily Show came around.

At the time CC mostly aired MST3k, Soap, Absolutely Fabulous and older comedy movies from the '70s and '80s. Although I liked it because it frequently meant Monty Python movie marathons. But still, nothing to make the network really stand out yet. I wouldn't say it was hated as much as it was just dismissed.

As someone that didn't get Comedy Central until after it had long been on the air (South Park was already several seasons in), I thought Pardon My Zinger was a real show until trying to look it up moments ago. Now I'm disappointed.

Ah man. Comedy Central introduced me to the awesomeness of British comedy with reruns of the original Whose Line. I remember being really happy when the Drew Carey show came on and Ryan Styles was on it. Then when I heard a US version was coming and it was still going to have Ryan and Colin, it was like heaven. And now here we are and we STILL have more Whose Line and Ryan and Colin are STILL on it.

Wait, what were we talking about? Oh yeah, STAY OUTTA MY BOOZE!

You never watched your local pbs station? That's how I got all my britcoms/doctor who till the internet came along.

Huh, I just realized that Bart's future first appeared in Bart Gets An F, far older than I would have thought.

PBS is where I got Doctor Who (Of which I only watched two episodes in my life up until 2010. One I loved as a 6 year old kid and one that bored me so much it confused me and turned me off of the show for 25 years. If only I could remember anything about the episodes.) and Mr. Bean, (Which came around the time of Whose Line for me.) but I didn't really realize what British comedy was until Whose Line reruns every day for hours. Both shows made me realize how different countries could be.

Never cared for Absolutely Fabulous though. And I fear that will cause some backlash just mentioning it.

Makes you wonder if they went with George Takei over Nimoy in Marge vs. Monorail, we'd never see Nimoy for a long while in the Simpsons.

He's frequently absent from school, then gives his teachers pathetic excuse notes that are obviously childish forgeries compared to...
