You keep saying you know what I mean and you don't. I'll give this one last go and then we can agree to disagree. Secure borders, first off, means more than one thing. To those on the far left, it is a catch phrase for saying the right wants to stop immigration. To people who don't live and breath the political rhetoric, it can mean something else.
Our ports, for one. Completely unsecured and my main concern when it comes to security. I have zero issues with people coming here to make a better life for themselves. I even think if you can get in and not get caught and start a life here you should get to stay. I also feel our country, since 9/11, has done fuck all to make sure we are checking shipping that is coming in from across the globe. I traveled for work for many years and those dumb airline rules do jack squat tbh. Drugs flow in from the north and south, and someone could easily get something in on one of those routes and take out a power plant or city. I am hawkish to the 9th degree on keeping ALL people on American soil safe from a terrorist attack, It's way up my priority list as I love a lot of people who live here.
So, again, as you can see from our back and forth, the conversation was misunderstood and unfruitful. This is what I am talking about in not allowing discussions about politics to grow. Someone always takes something out of context, or feels they know what the poster "really meant" and comes at them with a wall of text that has nothing but "you're wrong" in it.

Yeah, I have all sorts of issues with some of the bans handed out on GAF over the years and I don't intend to stay here but his name as an admin is one of the huge red flags.
So who's the owner of this new site? Basically who is the new Evilore that will profit from NeoGafs demise?

Yep.
I was banned for two months for mentioning -- in response to a post suggesting all Trump voters endorse sexual assault -- that the husband of his opponent was also accused of rape/sexual harassment by several women, and that voters who care about that issue faced an awful choice on election day.
It would be nice if non-hateful views of various perspectives could be presented without resulting in a ban.

While potentially a problem, the large list is probably to show people that there's a large buy-in for the new site, and so potential users see at least one or two people they trust.

Bill Clinton was not running for office. That is a big giant distinction and you were simply shitting on a candidate for something they didn't do in order to create some sort of equivalence which doesn't exist.

The only name I recognize out of that whole list is kswiston and you have to think he is a big loss to this community. His contributions to the BO threads were pretty significant.
I'm saying there will be no profit from such a site because they'll soon start cannibalizing their community like they did here. I predict a disaster of epic proportions, I'm almost tempted to visit it just for the lols.

I agree with you. As a first generation immigrant, here are my two cents. The conversation about securing borders always get shut down because it leads to STOPPING immigration or racism which I dont understand. Securing borders is the job of a nation, do people want open borders? If you dont want open borders then you have to follow the immigration laws. People are making immigration laws as pick and chose as it fits your narrative.
If you allow all illegals to enter, then how about us the legal immigrants and our struggles to enter! Our family had to wait years to come to America and I had to wait years before I was reunited with BOTH mother and father. So if youre allowing all illegals then make it open border so anyone from any country can come anytime as they please. So that it will be fair.
When I talk like this, they say well we can have some immigration after we take care of the struggling illegals already in America. Thats fine, lets make them all legal! But what happens after that ? as long as there is any form of an immigration law, there will always be someone who breaks and enter illegally so 100% illegal immigration problems will exist as long as there are immigration laws. What will we do to those future illegals? Oh make them legal again ? Then why have any laws, open border is the only solution to never have illegals. As a nation, it cant happen because all personals need to be accounted for...
I mean people will make sure their houses are safe and secure but dont bat an eye for National security because theyre not directly impacted right away .... better solution is better immigrant laws. (Getting too long lol)

I agree, and if they would divulge that information that amount of transparency would be amazing. I just think it's asking way too much for wanting those specifics when their chief concern is just getting the site operational. It's also a weird complaint coming from a user here since I don't think Evilore has ever disclosed any of this site's finances. I could be mistaken though.

That's what I'm wondering. It's still early but safer than sorry. We know GAF is headed by EviLore and I'm assuming the revenue and maintenance is paid by him I think, but what about this new forum? There are multiple admins and I'm guessing it's supposed to be equal, will the revenue still be centralized and how will funding the site go about?
Those are questions for later on but I hope this gets sorted for them! Ad revenue also depends on how visited your site is I believe.

There isn't a real conversation to be had because your concerns are literally a phantom menace. Statistically, if you really cared about Americans being safe from terrorism you would be more concerned about disarming Americans because they are the ones committing acts of terrorism in America.

Have to quote this and say thank you. As someone who leans more right than left, I was never allowed to post in any semi-political thread. If I said anything negative about Hilary, I was indeed called a racist piece of shit. I probably still have the PMs I got saying I want all homosexuals to die and that I'm a racist. All because I said I disagreed with certain aspects of Hilary's campaign.
The future of GAF is unknown, and that's OK for now. The forum that a bunch of users are migrating to is also in an unknown future. Opinions on the Evilore situation aside, there's no reason both forums can't coexist. There are a bunch of other forums that are very similar to GAF already, and they were thriving alongside GAF. Reset will likely do the same.

Alright that's good to know. I hope they have a plan on how to generate traffic for ad revenues if they're planning to support the site without using their own personal funds!
