Was gonna give reset a look and see if I preferred it over GAF but I'm not fucking around with Discord. Hate that thing

It will be open for regular registration later.
Some of them mods there were absolutely shit posters here. I'm amazed at some of the names. Almost burst out at laughing at one.

And some of the mods are also great content creators from Gaming Discussion that have always been helpful and helped organize stuff back on GAF when they were members.

How do you get an invite? Why an invite system?

Invites were sent out for various discord communities (think wrestlegaf, kpopgaf, etc) to hook up when gaf was down. Right now theyre doing a staggered launch so that the communities can settle in and keeping out as much as 4chan/voat as possible. Its also being used as a stress test. Later open registration will be available to everyone. Right now discord invites are locked down afaik since channers got in and started posting gore/porn stuff in the chats.

It looks like the ResetERA guys have done a great job with the new forum.

I'd love an invite but I'm fine with waiting too until things settle down. I know everyone getting the board up and running must be extremely busy. I'm impressed they've got so much OT's up and running already. The buzz there seems good. Pretty great achievement and I hope it all works out well for them.

I would also appreciate an invite to ERA please. It feels weird being without an internet home at the moment. Been around since 2006. My temp twitter is top_dreg if you would like to contact me there.

EDIT: Or an invite to Discord or PoliGAF Discord would be nice also.

I too would enjoy an invite if at all possible. I've been refreshing the new forum URL like a chump expecting it to pop up at some point, apparently I should have been getting involved with those Discords.

There's no invites going out. It's not some secretive club or anything. The site is new, gotta test the waters first, some people get in, some don't. Public registration will be a thing. Also, they're trying to combat alt righters/voat scum/ and 4channers from messing things up.

There is no point in asking for an invite here. The only way in right now is if one of the old GAF communities have already invited you in thru a community discord channel. These have been locked down for over a day now. This is necessary to keep 4 chan away at launch.

It will be open to everyone soon enough. It's probably unfair on some long term GAF users but it's a necessary layer of security.

Will ERA survive if one of the admins or mods farts in the elevator and the users find out about it? Who knows...

I know you're joking but it's a very interesting point.

It's easy to hide behind anonymity on the internet, but many people have things they'd rather weren't made public, the difference is no one gives a shit about most of us (I mean because we're not well known)

When you're in the public eye more people pay attention, god forbid anything leaks out about someone over there, would certainly be interesting....

Infact I'd love to be a fly on the wall in certain posters homes, I'm sure not everyone taking the moral high ground is squeaky clean. I'm not insinuating they might have sexually harassed someone but it could be something that would make them look bad too....

I'll not give a damn about it then

Also prioritising communities in very unfair on those of us who have been members for a decade but aren't a member of any community

Guess I'll just stick with GAF

You're not going to give a damn about something that will happen in less than 24 hours...ok then.
It's not really unfair: those communities had the very bulk of people and content on GAF, it makes sense to have them approved first to build all the required Community threads and others. Not to mention, those communities with the help of Discord features, were able to properly verify that the people getting in are GAF posters, making it harder for stuff like /pol/ or voat to invade it in mass.

Thankfully, if anyone from there is caught doing that, they will have to step down and go away. You know, instead of blaming half a forum and destroying a entire section so people can't talk about their behaviour.

Any discord community would have let a long term member in.
Amiibo Gaf let me in because I couldn't find TVGaf.
