The discord communities exploded over the weekend and several were over a thousand members strong and there were dozens of them. Its not all that surprising if you were watching community threads.
 
lol that feel when even a Sonic Forces Demo thread has already racked up quadruple the amount of posts than the Gaf equivalent on a forum less than several hours old.

And the new features list is simply staggering.

And I absolutely understand that. I'm not saying platform X is better than platform Y, just let's stop making anyone more important then the community itself and that's what's happening in both cases.
At the same time that should be something to consider in all cases. Serious concerns from regular members should be taken seriously when they feel like specific mods are mishandling their situation. If you want a healthy platform you don't put the modteam over the community itself, but keep all groups in check and sort out people who chose to follow a certain agenda. So I can see how a lot of people just acted out of frustration and left when they felt they couldn't speak their mind all the time.

That being said, during my run as a IRC network OP in the up to late 90s I have seen a lot of shit going down on the Internet, so that may be a reason I'm rather laid back when looking at the situation we are facing right now.
 
Hi.

I've left GAF for quite some years.

This place was a place of refuge in my past, however, it slowly started getting close minded and toxic. One small difference of opinion spiraled people downwards and the overall toxic nature made me leave. I lived with depression most of my life and I can't tell you how many times this forum saved me...but at the same time, this forum did push me over the edge in the past.

I'm not going to pretend I even know what happened since I was neither there for your or your ex's personal life. However, this forum is not healthy.

So please, just ban me.

I no longer want to be apart of this, not just because of this scandal, but this time of my life is done and I want to close this chapter for good.
Thanks for the years of saving my life on this forum, but I moved on from this place.

Whatever the truth is, I hope justice can be served.

Funny enough it's nothing to do with any of the new replacements, heh, I'm nowhere near famous here as it is, which is another problem I have with new sites' moderation. They claim they're going for fairness but really, it seems like an old boys club, which won't help anything.

Sorry, but open reg isn't gonna happen for a couple days it seems, either you got in by the discords(which are closed now) or you got lucky when they accidentally opened it for 10 minutes(just got my confirmation email from that myself).

Do you care about the safety of your family by .. I don’t know ..making sure your house is safe and secure? If you read my previous post you can see rather clearly that I don't think open borders means we are not still doing security and baggage checks and the like. So I don't think that we disagree as much as you think we do here and won't say much else about that.

I do think the idea that open borders somehow being a security issue is a red herring and sentiment based far more in fear or fear-mongering than any actual likely outcome. Our border security has a pretty good track record. In response to my first post in this thread acts of terrorism were what that user spoke of as security concerns. The threat of terrorism in the United States is almost entirely domestic. In incidents of terrorism in America, the tool is more likely to be guns than anything else.

That would be why you see the focus on guns in my post you quoted even though I am perfectly aware that automobiles many other things pose a far greater likelihood to represent bad outcomes for your health and safety.

Personally, my concerns for security and safety are far more about not interacting with police than borders, guns, terrorism, automobiles, drinking or eating poorly. Don't want to be that 1 in 3 black men locked up.
 
To those saying mods were targeting people en masse. You guys are cowards. You waited all bitter like until anyone who would hold you accountable left. You now try to rewrite history. You guys are cowards. You couldn't defend your toxic views before and now when neogaf is vulnerable you decide to come out. Despicable. The saddest part is you folks want people to believe you but you can't listen when people say you're assholes for good reason.
 
I was open to remaining here, but Reset has taken off in such a big way. I don't think there's any hope of reversing the momentum. Just looking at the people still signaling an intent to be a part of GAF, it really is just the dregs of the site. And even if this place could still have an active community, it's forever tainted by Evilore's sexual assaults and pedophilia.

Sadly for him, he's now presiding over the funeral of his life's work. Since he is uneducated and has no skills (forum manager I suppose?), I really hope he's managed his money well over the years. I doubt he'll ever have anything as lucrative ever again.

I have like 3x the lower body strength, better upper body strength, better cardiovascular development, 8 inches and 30-60 lbs in mass, and a BJJ Blue Belt, wrestling and Muy Thai training. Don't ask whether he would be competitive in pro MMA today, ask how many thousands of video game nerds would hand him his adds in about 30 seconds, that's the more telling proposal.

Cult of personality for a really ripped movie actor who had a forward-thinking martial arts philosophy and an untimely death. Gonna have to deal.

Yes, I'm afraid so.

Important questions are not being answered, and I doubt they really will be at this point. Evilore probably received sound legal advice from a lawyer that will work should his situation get to a court of law, but this is no way to resolve issues and run a healthy community.

Someone with 24 posts likely calling a longtime member of this forum an attention whore is a sad reminder how far and fast this community has fallen, and valuable, thoughtful posters are leaving the site with chagrin.

Silence, in the face of this, speaks volumes.
