I don't like him either but he's a good example of how boom bap is still thriving to an extent.Joey Badass is another one of those average rappers nowadays that people hold with high regard

Charli's inability to make herself relevant doesn't change the fact her hook made Iggy relevant. Again listen to the version without Charli and say with a straight face that song would have still blown up.
You'd be lying to yourself.
Couldn't this be said of a near majority of all mainstream radio rap? Yet you rarely see any criticism of the sheer ignorance of shit like I'm In Love With The Coco. There's a constant stream of negative stereotypes on the radio...and it's not coming from Iggy.
I think she's trash, I think her success is laughable/pathetic, etc etc etc...but it continues to amaze me that so many people aren't offended by shit until white people half do it.
Nah. Here's the original

Charli blessed her with that hook
Due to all the exposure she's been getting on the OT lately, I'm listening to some of her music for the first time.
What is this shit.
Wow, it's like, I know it's the same song, but it has a totally different vibe. Not one of my friends would have jumped on this song if not for the catchy hook.
Exactly. It's how EVERY artist blows up. No one cares about cadence or tone or else Megan Trainor's ass would still be washing dishes wherever the fuck she's from. Think of any artist out right now and think of their very first single. You're going to think of the hook/chorus first.
What determines your success in this industry is your ability to craft a hook that gets spins and gets parents/teens singing it nonstop.
Taylor Swift's breakout single? Shit that damn song had the most macho of dudes singing it in the gym between protein shake breaks because it was catchy as all the fucks. I don't even know the words to that song, but I can tell you that she wears short skirts and Taylor wears T-shirts, why can't you see that apparently you belong to her.
PSY? Shit wasn't even in English! But that hook, all everyone knew was "oppan gangnam style" then do the little jig.
Every time you hear "Fancy" sampled in a commercial of some sort do you hear Iggy's rapping or Charlie singing the hook? Rhetorical, we all know the answer. Iggy could rap like Benzino or Shawty Lo on a track but as long as she has a nice hook she'd be in the same position.
Remember when Eminem blew up with his first single? Everyone and their mom was singing the hook. Since that time Eminem has made songs about the very process of being forced to white songs with a catchy hook and how shitty it is if you want to be popular have a hit.
The reason hundreds and hundreds of rappers don't make it is because they can't craft a hook to save their lives. Think of some of the worst rappers who are popular right now and tell me why. Bobby Shmurda sounds like hundreds of other NY rappers but the reason he blew up and not them is because of the beat of his song, his little jig that went with it and the hook.
Why do you guys think Drake is killing the game right now? Dude has changed his cadence and tone so damn much over the years but one thing has remained constant. His ability to craft a song with an infectious hook. I mean damn near every song he makes gets turned into a Twitter hashtag ffs.
Snow will never blow up because she can't craft a hook that can be used as a big single.

Lmao. Go away, continue to deprive yourself of great music. Stay stuck in the 90's with your garbage opinion my dude. How exactly is she trying to kill hip-hop? Hip-hop has been on the decline for years.

This post assumes that I don't listen to current hip-hop which is false....

Hopefully she succeeds.
how does CB4 hold up? been meaning to rewatch it lately ever since that compton trailer.
I wanna see Iggy in a legit diss battle tbh.
Ah. The haters can't keep Queen Iggy of their minds. Whether they know it or not, she's still winning.
is she popgaf or hiphip gaf?
is she popgaf or hiphip gaf?
either way, it's getting to be a bit much. At least wrestling gaf makes up for their spamming with terrific gifs
Let 'em know. *Disagree with the not being a great rapper part though. It is highly entertaining how mad people get at this girl for being succesful.
Is she a great rapper? Probably not. Was Fancy catchy as all fuck? Sure was.

Big Sean, Plies, Gucci Mane, Wacka Flocka, Young Thug, and Two Chains are amongst my favorites....
What exactly is your criteria for a "great rapper", and who else would you put in that category?
She sounds like Diamond from Crime Mobb more than Gangsta Boo.. Also her Gangsta Boo accent is annoying.
BTW I'm curious now, did she sing R&B too?

Seriously. I continue to be completely baffled by the passion towards Iggy, positive or negative.Couldn't this be said of a near majority of all mainstream radio rap?
