The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt |OT| Gwent Player, Monster Slayer, EVEN RACISM

I was happy with my ending,
Ciri always enters the portal I believe it's what happens after that is different. For me, the ending starts with Winter over White Orchard, you're back in the tavern you started the game in Dandelion, Zoltan, and Yennifer or Triss is there with you depending on who you chose to be with. Dandelion and Zoltan are drinking and arguing over something, Yennefer reminds Geralt that he's supposed to meet someone to go hunting. You eventually meet up with Ciri whose alive and well and do a few small quests with her as you hunt and Geralt talks while Ciri becomes more distant. When you get back to the tavern you see a Nilfgaadrian escort waiting, Ciri says that she's accepted Emhyr's offer and will go back to Nilfgaard and become Empress. Geralt accepts her choice since she's the one making it on her own. They hug and she gives Geralt her sword.

Ending montage follows, Geralt and Yennefer end up leading a simple romantic life far and away from politics.
That I believe is one of the best endings.

Just finished that quest last night on death march. Took me a few hours given how brutal some of the encounters are at level 5. That boss is pretty simple though, just time consuming. you can circa dodge his attacks easily and follow through with a single heavy attack repeatedly. Just hit him once, immediately dodge his axe and repeat while queen is always active for safety.

Be sure to never hit him when he is bubbled, and expect to whittle his entire health bar down 3 times due to his regen while dogs are summoned. I still killed him this way without ever taking damage. Just don't get greedy trying to land extra hits as his axe swing only allows a single heavy attack between lunges, which you need to avoid. The dogs shouldn't be too bad either with quen up and liberal quick dodges.

That whole dungeon was awesome on death march.
Yeah I finally got him. Health regen is sooooo slow without any food lol. The cutscenes immediately following winning was particularly funny because it was raining inside the cave.

Short clip of rain in the cutscene lol.

Bubhu, I'm getting smacked, so the combat has to be shit!

I'm absolutely loving the game. Every minute of it.

But the combat is shit. It's a floaty, twirly unresponsive mess.
It's serviceable once you get the hang of it, and the fights are over quick, but that's about all the positives I can come up with. Let's call a spade a spade and hope they'll actually do something with the combat when The Witcher 4 comes around.

Yes, that one. Is it possible get it or that just a sampler?
it's bear school armor, think that one is mostly found on those islands, found a picture on reddit of the fully upgraded version (like with every "school" armor set there are upgrades that require the previous version, think there is 4 version for each set in total for all but not 100%)

Loving it so far(just hit level 8),but yeah some of the combat is pulling your hair out inducing sometimes lol.

Yes, to be more precise it is the Mastercrafted version of the Bear School/Ursine armor. I have all the Mastercrafted versions of the various School armors I'll probably post the pics later. I think the Bear armor is the best looking one, I think the others get progressively worse with each upgrade. Also, it's a real shame the starter/Viper armor does not get further upgrades since I think it's the coolest.

You could say that.

The combat isn't optimal and a bit messy at times, I agree. I just disliked his attitude. The combat is suboptimal, but by no means shit. Especially when you look back into the other Witcher games.

I can't seem to find it in the keybinding menu, but is there a way for me to Quick Save, instead of having to enter the menu all the time on PC?

Whoa, I like that in Novigrad you can find story characters strolling through the city and talk to them. That was a surprise, a nice small detail.

Triss said she wanted me to stop by because she wanted to talk about something, so I go over to her place and there's no option to bring that topic up?

Also, I wish there was a way to meditate without using an alcohest.

Just ordered my 970. Will be my stopgap until I see what Pascal brings. Actually can't wait...Retiring my 670 does hurt a bit though.

So yea, it played quite good on there (bearable for me) but it will be really nice to have it perform even better. And if they choose to do anything about DirectX12 in a future update, well I'll be ready.

Fuck this game has me floored, so fucking good. Owns every other WRPG of its kind.

Also, Loose but not too long and full beard = best Geralt, besides Witcher 1 look. I know long hair like that is in but it's different because of how it rests on him.

It's funny seeing the difference between the tutorial area for this game and the Hinterlands in Dragon Age Inquisition.

I much preferred the Hinterlands to White Orchard. But perhaps that's because travel and combat were both more entertaining in Dragon Age Inquisition than in The Witcher 3.

Pilot, your Titan is ready, prepare for Titanbombs
I haven't tried this yet but on the PS4 you can access the map by swiping on the touch pad? You can also access the inventory by holding the touch pad down.

After 40 hours I didn't know about this, haha.

I saw a show where they showed that a sword on the back is stupid as fuck. #cannotbeunseen

Edit: Is Emhyr that rare in the game ? Just saw him once when he gave me the contract. Would be a shame if he hasn't much dialogue in the game, Charles Dance has the perfect voice.

I have no issues with it at all, can't say it's shit for me. Signs are fun to use, locking on works fine, sword strikes are satisfying as hell... can't complain here.

Interesting. I got a different one.
In mine it started with Geralt telling Emhyr that Ciri didn't survive, that she gave her life to save everyone. And then Emhyr tells him that he hopes he and Geralt will never cross paths again. Then, on his way to a meeting at a tavern, Geralt stops by a blacksmith and picks up a specially ordered sword, one with a Swallow engraving on the blade. The blade is for the person he is meeting at the bar. The hooded figure drops her disguise and asks Geralt "Did he believe you?" Geralt then gives her the sword and tells her that she's going to be a Witcher. Ciri unsheathes it and inspects the engraving, loving it, and then it cuts to black as she sheathes it.
Super awesome stuff.

You can also hold down the menu(start?) button on the Xbox to go directly to the map.

It's the little touches that really impress me the most with this game. I was running and almost to a village and had called Roach. He was running up behind me as I made it to the village. A cut scene induced. Seconds in the camera is on Geralt and lo and behold, Roach comes running up into the camera behind me, makes a "humph" face, then turns and walks off. Also, during a cut scene on a quest I am walking with another person and as we are doing so, off in the corner are two rabbits going at it like, well, like rabbits. lol.

This game

Also, this.

It's hard but when everyone is telling you otherwise lol, sometimes you have to accept it might just be you.

He's not actually wrong though. The combat is god awful if you try and get in everythings face all the time, but last night I took out a level 7 Wraith on Death March at level 3 and to be honest it was really easy. At the least one on one combat can be engaging. Like another poster said, not being hit is the most important part but then also countering for criticals is too, be it by parrying or dodging to their back depending on the enemy.

Fighting mobs can really suck though and that does need some tweaking. When you don't have an AI helper it's way too easy to get stuck in a flurry of attacks. I feel like this game would actually benefit from a system a little similar to AC where only a limited amount of enemies can launch an attack at a time, yet which enemy it is should be randomly cycled from the mob. But even then, the camera is working against you. The game could probably do with pulling the camera further away depending on the number of enemies you're facing.

The only things I can't think of a way to make manageable through updates is the few encounters with large groups of enemies within confined spaces. The game just doesn't support that very well at all and the number of enemies you're fighting is just way too high for the space available.

It could be improved, but I certainly wouldn't class it as awful. I find it infinitely superior to the combat in Elder Scrolls personally and it never held that series back.

I encountered a real nasty bug where no matter what I did or where I went the game wouldn't let me draw my swords or cast signs. I had to roll back to a save from 3 hours prior. :(

And there are some quests I really don't want to have to redo.

Nah, when the enemy's hitbox is a complete random mess, it's garbage design.

I agree that the combat is pretty shit, but serviceable. You gradually learn to deal with it. Just sidestep a lot and use your appropriate signs. Check the glossary thing to learn the weaknesses.

Ending Spoilers.

Yeah, I love the major differences. After reading up it seems the ending is decided based on a number of choices you made in the game primarily dealing with your interactions with Ciri such as whether you had a snowball "fight" with her, whether you took her to visit Skjall grave, and whether you had her talk to Emhyr to name a few. Then there are also you choices in various side quests that effects things mainly the Raodvid assassinations quests. The ending state differs depending on whether you did the quest and sided with Roche, sided with Djiksta, or simply skipped or didn't fully complete the quest altogether.

Got the Griffin set for Geralt. Accidentally found it while exploring, lookin' pretty fly. When I went to loot a barrel in Oxenfurt the guards aggro'd on me and struck me down, stealing almost 300 coins. :lol

Do custom beards reset on death? I've gotten my beard trimmed twice now, and later on I see that it's grown back in and have to go hunt down a barber again. Or is it only the haircuts that are permanent and beards will always grow back?

PRO TIP

If you need generic "monster part", like for example, Monster Teeth, you can dismantle it from creature specific stuff! Discovered this while crafting my mastercrafted ursine armor.
