I just finished Carnal Sins.

This was quite a treck. I'll admit I was quite genre saavy and knew that even if everything was pointing on Nathaniel, something was weird. The surgical efficiency of the murders would have indicated the coroner or the surgeon. But when the Coroner told a clearly bullshit line about his age, I knew he was hiding something. I did not expect such a cool fight against a fucking higher vampire. Vamps are maybe my favorite enemy so far in this game.

Another superb sidequest.

I'm about 8 hours into the game and the combat is just... destroying me. I almost have to do every fight 3-4 times, lots of consumables and potions to even make it work.

Anyone have tips that can help me out? Its gotten to the point where I pretty much dodge and parry so much every fight takes like 10+ mins.

Halp!

It's stick and move. You should try hitting them with Igni or Aard to knock enemies off-balance so you can hit them. Swing two or three times with weak (or maybe twice with strong), then press B to step backward. Diving uses up your stamina and prevents you from using another sign as quickly, so try to sidestep as much as possible. Parrying helps, too, but I only use it to feel like a badass. Especially if there's more than one guy attacking me, it's pointless.

gotta love how you take a random witcher contract like any other thinking "well this is getting repetitive" and
fuckin lambert
shows up and it becomes
a whole questline

thats how you do it

Was laughing pretty hard at this Baron storyline. Never in my wildest thought it would go that route lol. He reminds me of Robert Baratheon

Playing with no map going through Velen is fun but man can you get lost fast.

Yep, the hold down run and he it will follow the road doesn't work either. Roach once ran into the sea and stood under water getting attacked by drowners as it grazed.

Wow and I thought my horse problems were bad.. :|

I just keep my parry up and pivot to the enemies back for the critical attack. I use roll for enemies with long reach. The biggest thing I was doing wrong was not being patient. Sometimes I get clipped

Hmm I'll have to try that and see how I fair.

I wish I had spoken to the murderer instead of killing him instantaneously. He was about to murder someone, though, so it just seemed like a good idea to not give him a chance to kill her.

I had totally forgot about that age line by then. His student never commented on it so I figured it was no big deal and didn't think to make a mental note about that.

Also got a floating eye glitch and an invisible Roach. How did this game escape this in the reviews when Unity got roasted for it?

You mean the Reverant? I think he was just... playing with Fire to leave an ''Eternal'' mark on the girl. Reprehensible yes, but not gory murders.

Holy shit Gwent is awesome. I was playing the soothsayer and he had 118 points, all via monsters in the close range. I had 4 points. Last two cards for me were a good strength long range and the weather card that reduces all closed range cards to 1 points. Played that and won the game by a single point. It was super satisfying.

Good Lord, only to Novigrad which means I am 2/3 through act 1. This game is massive. And dat Triss

If you haven't done any quests in Novigrad yet then you aren't even in act 1. I have the guide and the Velen stuff isn't counted as a act.

Oh shit, so the corner was the actual murderer? I thought the Reverant was the murderer and the coroner was aiding him somehow. If you kill the Reverant without speaking to him the quest line ends there and it's believed he was the murderer.

I just finished Family Matters...wow.

This game is something else. I thought
the Baron was a piece of shit, but once I heard his side of the story I realized, yes, he was, but it was a downwards spiral from both sides. I ended it with him taking Anna to the hermit.

Horseracing with these controls :s

Controls do suck, but I haven't lost yet.* Mainly because I've found that as long as you're in front you can be a dick and slow down and just get in the other guys way. This helps when low on stamina as he can't pass you and you can restore some stamina and once you're ready to go again you can just sprint away.

* I guess I technically lost the last race I was going to do before shutting off for the night. Wasn't my fault though, when the race started the game teleported me to other side of the map.

HOT DAMN

PC Ultra with the latest patch. This is the best looking open world game ever, not even close.

I was wary about doing it at first, but picking up a 970 for this game to replace my 670 was a very smart thing in hindsight. It's fucking stunning.

Yup... Good to know that you can ''fail'' that side quest. Quite interesting. Few games do that other than the Witcher series.

I did the same.

Why am I so underleved? At 4 but each quest I have is 5 or higher. Does the game expect me to grind or what?

You should be able to do those quests. Doing main quests will level you up faster but there's really no need to rush. You should be able to do quests up to maybe 5 levels above your current.

Anyone?
Besides killing Junior like the quest implies.

Not a lot of help sinceI don't remember what quest Gangs of Novigrad was but I think you should do the dwarf's sub quest first. I did some of the other quests related to the gangs and I wasn't able to continue his afterwards. He said I broke the deal or something like that.

Spoilers for an alternate ending. I decided not to kill
the spirit under the tree, who then set off and freed the children. This pissed off the Crones so when I returned with the Baron to get Anna back they had cursed her into some blue thing. Managed to lift the curse, but she still died. Baron then went and hung himself.

Oh well.

Man I just love stumbling into quests while exploring the world. Thankfully the game doesn't require you start any quests at message boards.

And I have SO MUCH crafting/alchemy crap jeebuz. It feels weird that you have infinite oils, along with all your stuff being filled up just by sleeping. Oh well, I don't play this game for the challenge.

And alternate igni is awesomely broken.

Highlight of tonight's play:

"Bear! BEAR! Run you stupid shit!"

Need a Princess gwent card.

Your character cards go to one of three tiers: Melee, Ranged, or Siege. The points on the card go to your total, and whomever has the most points before both players pass is the winner of the round. Best 2 out of 3 to win.

The thing to wrap your head around is that the hand you draw is the hand you get FOR THE ENTIRE GAME. All three rounds. Spy characters allow you to draw more cards, but add points for your opponent, so its best to play them when you know you are going to win or lose a round for sure. You need to not blow all your cards on the first round and strategize when to pass and when to spike a round so you have more cards for later.

Weather cards turn all the applicable cards in a tier to one point (Frost - Melee, Fog - Ranged, Rain - Siege). Clear weather removes to the effects.

I just realized something after beating the game, remember in the gameplay trailer Geralt appears to be on some quest and it seems he meets a Vampire sleeping in his coffin, he wakes it up and he asks what year it is and when it seems as if the time passed is insufficient he tells Geralt to "fuck off." What quest is that and where can I find it?

Is the Total play time counter broken on PS4? Yesterday it said something like 1 day and 5 hours and now it's 1 day and 0 hours.

I also noticed like a huge bump on the play time (maybe I didn't notice since I'm enjoying the game so much).

It seems to track even in suspend, mine is 3+ days which isn't remotely accurate.
