So fashion-er?

sides shaved ponytail and clean shaven in the cat armor.
I think it sends a very clear "don't fuck with this guy" message.

Speaking of folklore, I'd guess the botchling monster is somewhat based on the Scandinavian myling
Not quite. Both creatures and the ritual you perform in the game are pretty much a direct adaptation of Slavic folklore (the botchling/lubberkin combo was poroniec/kłobuk in Polish, and it looks like the translator got a bit creative here, as it doesn't seem to have anything in common with the lubberkin of English foklore).

Quick question:

I´m still crazy in love with this game, but I´m taking my time with it because I´m waiting for patches to come in.

My biggest problem right now is the text size - it´s barely readable on my 55" Plasma.

Have they said if and when they will take care of that?

30 hours in and the game still manages to grab me and pull me into it's world. Shame this scene (and so many others) looks better in motion.

There's a whole, massive thread dedicated to this issue. And yes.

So far as I know they've said they're 'looking into it' and little else. I wouldn't hold my breath that it'll get addressed in a real hurry. Actually increasing or allowing for adjusting of the text sign would, I imagine, require major redesigns of the UI. With the loot window, it was a simple matter of enlarging it to fill a greater portion of the screen. The rest is harder. If they've only just started looking at this as of the last week, I suspect we could be waiting... months.

This game is the prime example of screenshots that just do not do this game justice. It looks so much better when everything is shown in motion, especially when it is a clear day and a storm is brewing on the horizon.

Anyone know if there is a merchant that will buy trophies for a decent amount of gold I have too many trophies on me but don't wanna sell them at a loss lol..

Velen's map... o_O

I'm enjoying the game but that map is very deceptive; unless I am mistaken it shows both Velen and Novigrad *and* there are large portions of the map which don't actually exist in the game.

Found a way to cheapshot high level (I am level 13 elem is 24) Elementals: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fh5VFf5lE8k (I may be wrong but I am sure I did more damage on horseback than on foot, and it was obviously easier to avoid its attacks too.) And yeah, I know, I am pretty gash with my attempts at striking it, but the important thing is the tactic worked.

I have a troubling choice right now. SPOILERS (seriously don't look if you don't even know who Anna is):

I'm currently sitting here tossing up between letting this tree spirit live or die. I know that Anna is with the witches but I don't know in what way she is indebted to them. If I let this spirit live and "save" the children, will it fuck up my Baron questline? I've yet to find the daughter and have no other clues on the mother.

I just hit lvl 14.
And ive gotta say, from the very beginning I loved the world and was interested in the plot and exploration but I despised combat.
It seemed so mechanically flawed and unresponsive to the point I felt like permanently shelving the game or at least just going easy mode and turning combat into a forced chore between the better parts.
Im glad I didnt because now that im at a higher lvl and have better abilities and gear I see that early game combat (at least imo) is a clusterfuck where as later on you simply have many more tools and options for dealing with and managing the enemies.
Yrden upgrades and my bombs as well as igniting enemies far more frequently has greatly improved things for me and ive finally hit that "just one more quest before bed" flow that only good rpgs get me into.

Just started looking at the unpacked bundle files. Some interesting stuff in here, I hope I can find something related to world state.

elementals aren't hard to dodge, just keep quen activated and keep striking at its back. it'll probably take less time than your horse method.

Congratulations!

I also just hit 14 on my PC save. Rocking upgraded Griffin swords and one more level to go before I get my upgraded Griffin armor.

My bag is overflowing with crafting materials. I need to start selling them soon just to make use of them.

Anyone else experience a bug with the Nameless mission? I have completed all the steps in the quest but it has not completed the actual mission. I can select it as an active quest but it will just show the name of the quest and be blank under it because all steps are done. Anyone know if this will fuck things up going forward? I have probably played a good 15 hours sidequesting and monster hunting since this occurred so it would suck to have to save scum back to a save during the mission to make sure it completes correctly. I don't really care about any rewards it would give as long as it being in my questlog forever doesn't fuck me up in terms of progressing the story. I dunno if that quest branches in some way that makes completing it absolutely necessary.

So, I just got to level 10, and went and got the griffon schematics. I feel like im making some progress now heh. I think these are the only games I enjoy nowadays, the epic hundred hour plus games. I just take my time, and play them forever, Dragon Age, Elder Scrolls, and now Witcher 3.

Anyway, back to more Witcher!

just a tip, don't read it if you don't want anything spoiled,
the spirit in the tree has a grudge against the crones and anyone who has helped them..

Not only do the improved options help the feel of the combat, but not having every fight be a struggle for survival helps the pacing a little in my opinion. Playing on hard myself btw.

150 hours in and loving it to bits, but then i had to go away on business for a month. Pondered long and hard whether to bring the PS4 but decided against it as game time opportunities are rare for the next month.
Sitting at a lounge at Heathrow desperately missing the game :-| Man it's a fantastic game.

Specifically I'm reading the first book right now:
Andrzej_Sapkowski_-_The_Last_Wish.jpg

The Witcher was a series of books long before it was ever a game. Started in 1992.

I'm reading this one right now, as well. It's better than I expected, some pretty good stuff in there. How Geralt met Foltest (and I think I saw the story in a cutscene once, as well), how he became known as the Blutcher of Blaviken, stuff like that.

As I'm reading it, it's become apparent how well CDPR captured the mood of those novels in the game. Geralt's process in uncovering what a certain type of monster is, how he goes about getting contracts, it's all pretty much exactly how it is in the game.

Tried every dialogue option, can't get Triss
to stay and go to Kaer Morhen without romancing her
. This sucks :(

That's one of the flaws (IMO) of this game. There's too much of a butterfly effect in some of the conversations. Don't get me wrong, I like that you can't easily tell how things are gonna turn out, but some of the conversations are just way too consequential.

A lot of the decisions that have a huge impact on the story don't really give you a lot to work with. You can completely alter major story points by picking something very trivial in a conversation, and the game doesn't give you much chance to correct that.

At times it feels like choosing to go for ice cream instead of pizza could result in the death of a character or a significant change in the world. Even if you spend the next 2 weeks with this character, you can never undo your mistake of having ice cream with them, as you're just not given the chance. (fake example, obviously)

Oh yay. Such tough choices. I think that's what is drawing me to Witcher more than any other open-world RPG, the choices actually feel like they make a difference rather than just checking off a binary list. Things change, people react to me and I'm not just a blank slate dude running around getting extra achievements.

Goddamn didn't have any issues with the game but after solving the main quest in Skellige the game always blue screens during the cinematic sequence.

It's the first time getting a BSOD on Windows 8 by the way.

Not only was the dodging easier, for me anyway, but I think I did more damage while on horseback than when I attempted to fight it on foot. So remove my shitty technique from the equation and it could be taken down a lot quicker on horseback than on foot.

That's actually pretty awesome.

Just killed the shrieker, says I have to check the crows perch notice board, but I can't get into the place because the gate is down. There are two guards on either side ' barons guard' but they don't say anything. How do I open the gate?

I killed the shrieker by finding it in a cave, chased it out in the open in, killed it and have to return the trophy.

Gwent AI seems to be a bit buggy. Second match in a row where the enemy just threw away the second round even though they have a card more than me.

The card might just have been a decoy or something. Often the AI gets dud cards, too, and there's nothing they can do with them.

If anything, the AI isn't good enough to realise they should get rid of weaker/useless cards in the first round.

When does fist fighting get good? All my opponents have been incredibly basic and none have landed a single punch on me due to how broken countering and even just wailing on them endlessly has been. They last 10 seconds and it feels completely pointless.

At least it isn't rough or frustrating like horse racing though for sure. Both of these activities are lacking. Only Gwent is superb.

I did the Novigrad fistfights just the other day, and one of the fights was more challenging because the guy did really fast jab moves which were almost impossible to block.

Tbh it seems like CDPR went overboard with monster attacks but went underboard with human attacks. Humans are fun to fight but just generally so easy. From what I hear, the last fight club fight in the game is quite a challenge, though.

Progressing in main story will open it.
