Difficult to explain. The Witcher lore resonates with me more than other stuff.
Have a fav song that makes you close your eyes as you listen to it? I don't even want to know how many times I listened to this and got lost in it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OUdnrYDhgg8

It certainly doesn't help that I got fixated on chasing that ultimate high as the release date was coming. The imminent 390X/980TI launches prevented me from getting a 4K setup too soon but I actually planned to spend 3k on 2 cards and a monitor that would have been used for the game. I would have been squinting or looking away until I start the game to preserve the 4K "wow factor" for the game.

I settled for starting the game, tabbing out to listen to the song I linked above while reviving a habit that died nearly 2 decades ago (not sure about the forum policy on this matter hence me being cryptic with the description but it involves consuming a plant that is illegal) all to get max immersion as I started playing.

So yeah, that's how I spent ~35 hours in White Orchard.
See people, just when you think you are weird, someone far more weird shows up :)

That is some crazy shit and brilliant that you get into it so much!

If I remember on the second stage I put up Quen used one of those thunder potions and charged in with heavy attacks. I just attacked until he died, health be damned.

I had problems with that fight because I still only had the first silversword.

What level are you?, I tried it (on B&B) when I was level 4, and couldn't hit hard enough to keep him from regenning in the 2nd phase.

Stock up on bombs, they are probably the best way to deal with the regen unless your Igni's crazy consistent with lighting the werewolf on fire.

The bestiary says to use Moon Dust, my personal experience is that Dancing Star stops the regen for a moment and deals crazy damage over several seconds, and some say Devil's Puff Ball's poison cloud also stops the regen from working

Try cursed oil, igni and moon dust bomb. Moon dust stops the beasts from regenerating health.

Ard does nothing against werewolves. Other than Igni, its better to use Quen or Yrden against the werewolves rather than Ard.

Thanks for the tips guys. I think I'm simply under leveled (level 4) and unprepared. The only bomb I have right now is Samum so I'm going to have to find the diagram and materials for dancing star and whatnot. My silver sword is the Viper Silver Sword so I know that's not the problem.

I'll level up, find some more diagrams, and come back to it later.

I recommend going back to White Orchard and clearing it out, looting everything.

A) It's a great place
B) It's fun clearing out white question marks
C) If you loot everything for every mission and question mark you'll get a lot of diagrams and good gear

But watch out, there are a few level 7/8 enemies rocking about. They're still pretty managable - usually things up to five levels above you can be handled if you use the right strategies against them.

PS you might have missed my other post, but I recommend you use Dancing Star infinitely more than Moon Dust. Moon Dust is only a small cloud which he can easily run out of and start regenerating again. Dancing Star immediately sets him on fire and will keep him rooted to the spot for 5-10 seconds.

Is there a HUD option for enabling the timers on oils?

There are no timers on oils, but there are charges, which (as far as I know) mean how many hits with the oil you can deliver before it comes off.

I'm level 22, the monster hunts up to level 27 were easy. Now I hunt a giant level 29 moose like gorilla (forgot the name) and it's wrecking me. This bastard is no joke. Need more levels I guess. Level 2 Ursine set and bear swords isn't enough.

Apropos timer. Is there one for Quen, I am not always sure if I still have it up. The animation is a bit too subtle for me to pick up in a fast fight.

Mastercraft Cat set done. Wanna make the Bear set next but I'm concerned because the Mastercraft level upgrades drove me to the poor house. Especially the weapons needing rubies/perfect rubies.

Can anyone help me on the Big City Players mission?

I've basically complete all the tasks and have the Ciri card yet it won't finish the quest. Is there something else I'm supposed to do?

Now all he will do with me is trade and nothing else.

Don't think so. You should have a shimmering effect playing around you, though, I haven't run into an instance where I didn't notice it.

Have you played all four? Ciri is the reward for specific player not for the quest itself.

Not really. There is a small light thread thst moves, it visible, but not very good when I am trying to not get hit and try to see if I have an opening.

Yep played all four yet the quest will not finish.

I've finish the game if that means anything though, but this happened prior to finishing the game.

Game is beautiful. Was riding my horse across the planes on Ard Skellig as the sun was setting in a red haze and a thunderstorm crackled across the horizon, evocative voice work swelling on the Ard Skellig wilderness song, almost felt I was there for a moment. So refreshing after the muck and mire of Velen and the urban sleaze of Novigrad. Also, spoilers for Last Wish quest
the whole string, from deep sea diving with Yen to learning why she wanted the Djinn, to sitting with her on the ship marooned atop a majestic mountain, wondering what lay in store for the two now that they'd slipped the shackles of fate. Man, level of emotional subtlety I do NOT expect in a video game, much less a huge open world RPG. I was like: am I playing a game, or reading a reasonably good short story?

Here yo go:

I've already beat the band member and got the
Ciri
card from him.
Yeah, smells like bug. Beating him again won't work either? It's defjnitly a bug, but maybe you can try to push the game. If not knock at CDPR's doors to fix this shit. It can't be that the core experience of Gwent get jeopardized.

Anecdotal, but I visited a mate of my tonight, and he asked about this, stating everyone at his work is talking about how amazing it is.

What is interesting about this game is actually seeing Geralt get pissed over certain things, usually he stoic but in this I seen 2 scenes so far where he legit pissed and wants kill someone.

Get Junior ending SPOILERS

after telling everybody how he wants him alive first thing Geralt does is punch after seeing what Junior does in his spare time. I was sure Geralt was going to beat the guy to death before even questioned him.

Taking a few days break from this now. I'm nearly level 35 and I think I'm right at the end of the main story. I've spent the last few days doing nothing but Witcher contracts and I've done all of them. Don't want to burn myself out. I haven't even started playing Gwent yet.

Yep I get no option to beat him again, I can only trade with him now. Sadly.

Sucks, it's the last mission in my way to complete the missions.

So, I beat it last night and now I feel really bummed that I have nothing left to do.
CDPR is a pretty shit developer, why isn't this game 500 hours long?

Don't think I have a single diagram for it yet either

Each set and set upgrade is a quest. Starting the quest requires finding a diagram in that set or upgrade.

Other side quests and witcher contracts intersect with these, so you should find most this way. If you want them faster, there are lists online that will show how to start each one.

lol

I wish I could forget the game and then start the ride from the beginning.
Selective memory loss, that's what needs to be developed.

It's implied that she's allergic to magic potions, If it was just magic in general then would she not be able to cast spells herself?

I just re-read this portion of Blood of Elves last night. She specifically says she is allergic to magic potions and needs a magic amulet for healing.

Also there is a contradiction with her potion allergy in books compared to the games. For example one of the very first quests in The Witcher 1, was creating a potion for Triss to heal her from injuries she got when Kaer Morhen was attacked in the beginning of the game.

Not necessarilly a contradiction- Witcher potions aren't magic. In the above mentioned scene from Blood of Elves Geralt gives her a Witcher potion instead.

Just beat it, little under 100 hours total play time. Holy shit I love this game. Can't believe I dumped 100hrs into this game in such a short time.

Gonna sit back and think about it before I jump back in for a Death March run

It's explicitly stated in the Witcher 3 that she's allergic to potions.

Not sure if this has been discussed, but I just encountered a bug with enhanced bomb formulas. Looking on CDPR's site, it's a known issue.

If you have an enhanced bomb formula before the basic formula, the enhanced will disappear after making the basic and leaving the alchemy screen.

The "fix" is making sure you have all ingredients needed for both the basic and enhanced bomb. Hope I didn't screw up any of these earlier without realizing it. :/

Don't think I have a single diagram for it yet either

There are different sets for different school of witchers : cat (light armor) griffin (medium) and ursine/bear (heavy armor). They are 4 parts each, plus two swords (steel and silver) and the crossbow so each set is 7 parts. There are 4 levels for each item except the crossbow. You need the first base set of each piece to craft the next part. It's pretty good, you can play a set, build your character progression around it and have your set evolve and level up with you. They give you great power and they scale amazingly well with the yellow skills for each armor " gain 5% of dmg per set piece you wear " I play heavy ursine set and I gain 20% dmg bonus on my heavy attacks.

Also, there is the viper set but I think it's only swords, no armor for this one, for some reasons.

The set are treasure quest. Look for letters in chest or at shop. Read them. They trigger the quests

For the lighthouse contract in Skellige, what happens if
you don't fight the guys after you come back or if you get the guard to let you go in the prison? do you just never meet the jarl and get the sidequest?

I struggled with him last night, he killed me 3 times before I managed to get him dead, I used fire and that bomb that you can set fire to and then smashed him to bits with my sword (lv11 btw).

If you watch the video closely, you will see that his hp regenerates within few miliseconds. It was impossible to kill him.

So, I beat it last night and now I feel really bummed that I have nothing left to do.

What about achievements or 2 different endings than the one you've got? There's plenty of reasons to replay it.
