The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt |OT2| Wanted to find Ciri, but everything Gwent wrong

Time played is definitely bugged. Folks on this thread were saying they spent 35 hours in White Orchard.

D'ohkay.

This game is absolutely massive but not that massive.

You mostly level via the main quest as it gives way more xp than the side quests so I don't imagine it would be a problem. Trying to do a bunch of side quests tends to leave you overleveled.

Would it be possible to get so overleveled that the main story quests no longer give exp? Or do they always give exp no matter if they are grey or not? I really hope someone can mod the game so that quests always give exp no matter what level you are.

Finished the game last night, playing on Death March difficulty.

I sat in bed for about an hour last night thinking about the ending that I got, very happy with that too.

Genuinely one of the best games I have ever played, it's certainly knocked Bloodborne out of the top spot for me this year (sorry Miyazaki). Those who know me know I'm an absolute huge Souls fan, even I'm somewhat surprised by my opinion.

Being a book reader and having played through and enjoyed the previous games are definitely a factor in this, glad that I took the time to read the books and get invested in the world.

I do have some minor complaints about the game, some are quite spoiler-y, while others are to do with the combat itself (The hard lock-on mainly). The game as a whole just ticks all the boxes for me. Playing on Death March helped too I think, it forced me to think more strategically and make sure each move I make count. I'll give some examples of where this stood out if people are interested.

Yeah guys, again, the counter is confirmed to be glitched. You can't base your time played based on the in-game counter. It's not only related to the PS4:s pause/resume either. Seems to be more issues than that.

Is it even possible to complete the main game though without doing much else? I would assume it would make the latter stages of the story very hard difficulty wise?

Isn't the majority of XP earned in the main story?

Outside of those people posting huge playtimes, I think 40hrs is pretty long for a main story!!!

Loving the game so far but farming for items is overwhelming (and cash doesn't come easy). Any way to make it less overwhelming??

That's odd, I find I have too much crap and too much money. I'm level 14 and have so much crafting crap and since I sell all weapons and armor except what I am wearing (I stock up on repair hammers) I have about 6k in gold and it just keeps coming. What exactly are you faming for? Have you got to the main city?

Protip: Unless I really need Roach, I run everywhere. As I do, I run over anything that is a flower and hit X. My inventory is so full it literally lags scrolling in between pages.

I'm just loving what appears to be a well earned turnaround for CDPR. They built up their profile quite a bit with Assassin's of Kings, but even then it was a super late port on one home console. I feel Wild Hunt has really put them on the map and elevated The Witcher franchise to something far more prolific.

Well, I for one, have never played a game from them. This game has gripped me so tight that I think it has ruined any other open world games for me. From the level of detail to the supurb voice acting and quest lines, I just can't get over how well it is all put together. Usually, I end up fast traveling and getting bored 10-15 hours in to a game of this style but after about 40 hours I am still walking everywhere and soaking it all in. I listen to every single cut scene and just keep finding new and better things to craft and do. It is literally the best RPG I have ever played and I am a die hard Fallout fanboy.

If they put this much attention to detail and care into Cyberpunk 2077, I think that will be my most hyped game of all time.

The only thing that worries me about Cyberpunk is that we'll lose the strong central character and move to a player created avatar. I really like being Geralt, it adds so much context to my actions.

Did they confirm that it was a player created character? Disappointing if so unless they do like Mass Effect and your character still talks and has their own personality based on your choices.

You shouldn't have to farm for any items Bum, just use dismantle at a blacksmith and you can get everything you need. Cash is hard to get early on because merchants give crap resell value outside of cities. Later on it becomes really easy to make money.

Absolutely. The team size is staggering as well and shows the worth of more 'traditional' development cycles.

I mean, the team was a fraction of, say, Ubisoft's teams for Assassin's Creed or the Rockstar San Diego team for Red Dead Redemption, and they had no outsourced help as far as we know.

It was a team of c. 100 people who, over 3-4 years, produced something which has outclassed those big publishers' outputs in basically every way.

All the best to CDPR. One of my friends - an independent game developer who just had his game released on Steam (with a little help from yours truly) - is Polish. He has never played a Witcher game but adores CDPR and considers them a jewel in Poland's crown. Seems totally deserved.

They really like to throw mobs of drowners at you. With a waterhag for good measure, that has a projectile attack you can't block. While there are a hundred NPC's in the area and a rainstorm that drops the fps into the toilet.

Worst quest so far, by far. Just because the performance is such shit, and you cannot save between waves, and the enemies are mobs of the most annoying ones in the game so far.

Yikes.

The person responisble for this is an asshole. lol.

You get more XP for main quests, but side quests in this game can be interesting to say the least. I just did one last night called "Dairy and The Darkness" and it was a little out there, but I got some quality loot and crafting plans from it. The game is really deep, totally worth exploring every nook and cranny.

I agree with this, lol. I ran into that exact scenario in a small underground area of Novigrad, damn near impossible to evade that damn water hag hurling shite at my face.

Tawny Oil and (lots of) Quen are your friends.

Plus a splash of Igni and Dancing Star for the drowners

Yep, guess I got that XP bug. Completed a main story quest that was green and didn't get anything.

Fuck.

This kind of thing ruins my good feelings on the game.

my built sucks for crowd control, i found a thief camp with like 15 dudes in it but that isnt the problem in death march difficulty i deal with this kind of overwhelming disadvantage by going all Alexander of Macedonia on their asses with Roach but those archers man they wreck me hard

I don't have the skill that slows time for bombs... so it's pretty hard to get off a throw against aggressive mobs like drowners.

Plus, I get a little clumsy/nervous in these fights knowing how long the load time is if I screw it up. I made the mistake of starting the mission before I was ready, and now on each retry I have to go into inventory and redo everything... and this game's inventory is atrocious. Especially the menu lag.

Anyway,,, this is really the first annoying quest do far. Really enjoyed the rest.

Surely this immortal alghoul with instant hp regeneration is a glitch? I turned off all HUD to capture this video so it's spoiler free: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=odDmAM_2tck

Definitely a glitch. Looked like he was doing glitchy stuff before you engaged him as well. And you should only get knockback and damage when his spikes are out.

I killed him and all the other ghouls there at level 6. So definitely try to reload or go back later, as it shouldn't be like that.

Ran into a pretty awesome Easter egg on one of the Skellige isles
I think it's called Kaer Alamut or something. Its a question mark spot and ends up being a hidden treasure. Fight through the plethora of enemies and underneath in the dungeon, you open a door to a cell and what do you know...it's a sky cell. Geralt comments on it and the body you loot is none other than the likeness of Tyrion Lannister. Geralt says something like "too bad he couldn't fly...". It was absolutely hilarious and awesome.

Don't highlight unless you don't mind having a hidden trwasure and short scenario spoiled on Skellige. But it doesn't have anything to do with the plot.

if you got the XP bug and are on PC you could just use cheat engine/a trainer and give yourself what you think is a fair amount of levels

Shit, sorry guys. What platform is this on? Would it help to roll back an update, if possible?
PS4. I'm not entirely sure how to roll back an update (guess just reinstall the game and such).

I'm reading some news breaks right now and it seems to be catching a bit of fire. Maybe Sony can push the update through cert faster.

That's a pity - one of the first abilities I got was the bomb slowdown time. Maybe go look for a Place of Power before you continue that quest? The bomb slowdown is so worth it.

The default bomb throw ability is absolutely atrocious. Pity because crossbow autoaim is excellent mainly.

Yeah you'd have to delete the files and reinstall. Your saves may not work with the release version though :/

That's worrying - was there a new update? I got the update which released on Monday or Tuesday, but my XP has been going up fine.

How can you only be level 11, 60 hours in? I beat the game in around 50ish at level 28 or 29. :p

because I don't rush through games. I spent $60 on this, I'm getting my money's worth. I've wandered a lot and have a lot of stuff, but you only get good EXP for doing main story and I've avoided that.

Yep. It was the new patch according to these news stories I'm reading.

In The Last Wish (the short story)
Triss is mentioned in passing by Yennefer as being "a friend" so she isn't a full-fledged active character yet. You don't even meet her. I'd say the way the whole thing is portrayed, Geralt has a bit of a crush on Yen and vice versa, that gets blown into something bigger by his wish to the Dijnn to keep Yen alive through a technicality.

I'm glad you posted that, as I haven't read the books. I'm generally not really into romance in games, so I went with Yennefer thinking it was sort of a "default" choice for Geralt as a character based on my limited knowledge at the time.

Is anyone using the ds4 with ds4windows and the touchpad and ps home button enabled for swiping through signs?

I have them all set in the program, but the pad and the home button won't work in game. Every other input works perfectly.

Set it up as instructed with the scan option ticked. Pad and button set to the default sign keys.

If anyone has any ideas they'd be appreciated.

oh wow, was this a bug? im pretty sure i didnt get some xp doing some missions but i thought that was normal because i got gold and was 2.2x over the required level

So, since I chose to not answer the series of questions on Witcher 2, what exactly does CDPR decide is "Canon" to my story?

Does anyone know?

Brau, how you finding this game brother? What platform are you on?

Playing on PS4. Game is absolutely amazing. Disabled all UI except for my health and bosses, and its so immersive. Just hit level 14, and finally reached Novigrad.

What about you man? how you liking this? apart from the easter eggs. I have noticed a few.
The whole Hattori name with him making dumplings, was pretty funny.

I am one level away from finally upgrading my griffin armor. At least i can use my upgraded swords. I also found the usrise set, so i can craft that, but its higher level. It looks pretty badass. I am also, heading north to find the cat school set, so i can go search for that.

Loving it tho.
fought the royal wyvern... got annihilated by a basilisk... TWO basilisks... and i met a giant where the ursine armor is, that just stomped on me.
:) Best game ever.

This XP bug is worrying...wonder what triggers it, I'm still low level (7) but did get XP as early as this morning and have version 1.03 (PS4).

And fuck monster decks. Biting cold their massive volume of melee units and your opponent still rolls you with 80 points..../grumble

You don't get any xp for quests that are 6 levels or so below you, but you should get some for green quests. And yes, it happened because of the most recent patch.

I try to exhaust his monster cards in the first round, throwing some spies on top of it and then losing that round. It's yet to fail me.

Edit: oops, double post. Sorry.
