Mini-map OFF: My whole attention was on exploring. This really increased immersion and the enjoyment of the exploration aspect. I was running into quests and points of interests etc out of luck and it was much more fun

I can't stand to rely on luck. I hate having to do things over, and what if something important was 50 feet away but I wandered for hours to find it? Nope.

Did anyone go back to doing random crap in Velen shortly after getting to Skellige just to prolong the game further? I just don't want this to end.

For the lighthouse contract in Skellige, what happens if
you don't fight the guys after you come back or if you get the guard to let you go in the prison? do you just never meet the jarl and get the sidequest?

The dude dies anyways.

Also if you ask one of the stone workers to help you get out, you get a sidequest from it which I missed by getting the guard to let me out. Also don't demand money at any point in the quest, you'll see what I mean later.

Skelliage isn't that far into the story, is it? Can't be, I've been playing for 60+ hours and I haven't been there, and I'm only level 11.

If you watch the video closely, you will see that his hp regenerates within few miliseconds. It was impossible to kill him

I've just noticed that, I must have got lucky with him I did think it seemed hard at the time but there were the other ones around as well, weird one that.

Anecdotal, but I visited a mate of my tonight, and he asked about this, stating everyone at his work is talking about how amazing it is.

It's great how much word of mouth is helping the title. Really great.

My gf is playing it too and is almost as addicted as I am. She, however, just can't talk to her colleagues about it. They aren't gamers and work in broadcasting, so there's a bit of a sheen of superficiality about some of them. They just switch off when it comes to games.

None of my colleagues have it but they're all into games and would love to have it. (I've really been selling it :p )

So, I beat it last night and now I feel really bummed that I have nothing left to do.
CDPR is a pretty shit developer, why isn't this game 500 hours long?

But seriously, do you have the urge to play through it again or are you shelving the game?
Genuinely curious, I am nowhere near the end, how long did it take you to finish it and does it have replay value?

I'm level 22, the monster hunts up to level 27 were easy. Now I hunt a giant level 29 moose like gorilla (forgot the name) and it's wrecking me. This bastard is no joke. Need more levels I guess. Level 2 Ursine set and bear swords isn't enough.
It's a Fiend.
Beat it on Lv18. Shit hard fight. I was casting Quen over and over again. Hit and roll.

I am near the end of the main quest, but still have so many '?' scattered all over the map, open quests and so much unexplored territory across every region that I just have no reason to wrap it up. The amazing world keeps beckoning me to explore while enjoying my time doing a Witcher's work. Feels good.

How can you only be level 11, 60 hours in? I beat the game in around 50ish at level 28 or 29. :p
Probably because he has undiscovered POIs on and just running from one to another. Not much experience outside of the story to be had. That said,I am 45 hours in and haven't finished the Novigrad plot yet, because I am doing lots of side stuff too. I don't even need POIs enough to do as it is.

I do both. Seriously though, what hugely important thing are you going to miss that's 50 feet away?! With minimap off you can still check the world map quickly to keep you on track.

When I'm playing the game normally, I have minimap on, and I truck about doing stuff as it pops up/keeping an eye out for merchants or herbs.

But there are times when I'm in the wilderness and I feel it would really benefit from a clear screen, in which case I temporarily turn off the HUD and have a little adventure. It's always amazing and I do it for 30 minutes or so until I have to go back to Novigrad or something, then I turn the HUD and map back on.

Around 30-40% of the game there.

Skellige is around the half way point of the game, you dont have to worry yet

I usually lose motivation to do the side content for some reason after I finish the main quest, which is why I usually try to do most of it before wrapping the story up. My routine usually spending 40 - 90 minutes doing side quests/exploring in between mainline story missions. This game is so good I might just end up doing everything regardless.

Is the EXP bug affecting everybody, every platform? Now I don't know if I lost any EXP and didn't notice. :/

I did a bunch of quests with Yennefer on Skellige and I didn't get a single bit of experience for em. I'm 23 though so I don't know if I out leveled them or not, didn't check.
It was the quest line where you put on the mask and see the visions and then the stuff with freya's garden

All I know is that I started at 18/2000 exp and I ended at 41/2000. All exp from mob kills and the hidden treasure thing I did along the way.

It's kinda frustrating.

I don't know how you did that. I didn't get to Novigrad until 50ish hours in and I was only level 11 or maybe 12 at that point.

I'm not sure on the actual time as the timer for whatever reason continues while in suspend mode. I figured I played around 6-8 hours a day and I beat it in 5 days.

Loving the game so far but farming for items is overwhelming (and cash doesn't come easy). Any way to make it less overwhelming??

Any quest 6 levels below you, you're not supposed to get exp. not sure what level your quests were since I'm not there yet.

I just noticed I got the no exp bug last night. Level 15 and did some Novigrad quests and got nothing for exp. really frustrating. Will be more frustrating if we have to wait a damned week for some kind of fix.

I don't know whether to keep going or stop now :(

You shouldn't ever need to farm, and cash kind of does come easy after a little bit. Just do a few Witcher contracts and you should be good.

All of ya'all with your playtimes need to keep in mind that the playtimes for consoles are glitched and may show far more or less than the actual time.

Some of your playtimes really seem way too high.

I'm at 6 days of playtime and only lvl 16. And ESO is right around the corner.

Damn I better hurry up.

Have you actually played for 144 hours or do you leave it running in suspend/resume? If you've really played that long and are only level 16, you must be doing some serious exploring. haha :p

Well of course you could blow through the main story.

I don't use suspend/resume.

Edit: Maybe the counter is broke because I'm positive I haven't played that many hours.

Impressive then. For me 50ish hours for the main quest and some armor gathering and crafting is pretty good. Definitely feel I got my money's worth.

Don't worry about farming items or cash. Go explore, do quests and enjoy the main story. I have yet to ever farm any item or cash and I have tons of cash and have no problem crafting most items with a few exceptions.

The crafting and money situation gets better as you level, if you are still low level don't stress over it. By time you hit level 10 you'll be fine.

Also, make sure you hit up a few ? events on your map every now and then. Can pick up a bit of cash and rare items on those pretty often.

Based on my own current playtime (which I've manully been keeping track of and not relying on the broken in game counter) I'd say 100 hours is a pretty good estimate to do most of the meaningful content in the game.

Money: there's a guy north-east of Novigrad, just on the other side of the river bridge, in a church building with a graveyard. He's an alchemist and he will buy your items for full price. This a difference of like 40 coins for crap swords off bad guys and the full 250 coins for contract trophies (eg the griffin head), rather than the 10 coins for the former and 80 coins for the latter you'd get from most traders. However, he only ever carries 500 coins, so you can empty his wallet pretty fast. And it takes around 5 days for his money to replenish.

Too much loot: I haven't confirmed it works in my save, but you can drop items anywhere and they'll stay in that location permanently. I went to Reardon Manor, went into an empty building, and dropped all my books, useless items, etc on the floor. This building is now my "house". If I go back, in theory, it'll all still be there. I'll check this tonight actually.

Well of course you could blow through the main story.

I don't use suspend/resume.

It's not just suspend/resume. It also counts if you return to dashboard or use another non-game app like Netflix while The Witcher 3 is still technically on in the background.

I don't use suspend/resume either and I'm apparently at 4 days of gametime, which is plain wrong. I'm at 2 days at most from my count.

According the howlongtobeat.....

Main Story 35h 43m
Main + Extras 74h 59m
Completionists 152h 26m
Is it even possible to complete the main game though without doing much else? I would assume it would make the latter stages of the story very hard difficulty wise?

Surely this immortal alghoul with instant hp regeneration is a glitch? I turned off all HUD to capture this video so it's spoiler free: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=odDmAM_2tck
I just fought him a few seconds ago (level 13). It seems the glitch is like the spikes are there even if you used axi.
Do stackable items not count towards your weight limit? Like if an item weighs 1lb having 50 of them won't mean 50lbs?
No, but crafting items usually have 0.01 weight, so 50 times that would be 0.5

You mostly level via the main quest as it gives way more xp than the side quests so I don't imagine it would be a problem. Trying to do a bunch of side quests tends to leave you overleveled.

Currently polling second in Australia's federal election (first in the Gold Coast), this feral may one day be your Bogan King.

I'm just loving what appears to be a well earned turnaround for CDPR. They built up their profile quite a bit with Assassin's of Kings, but even then it was a super late port on one home console. I feel Wild Hunt has really put them on the map and elevated The Witcher franchise to something far more prolific.
