Friend with benefits quest questions....

I usually don't care much about what if when you make a decision but what happens if you don't kill her?

They are in
novigrad

Where in Novigrad would I find them if they were alive? I just double checked and I definitely DID leave the spirit alive, yet Anna wasn't transformed by the witches. This is not how this quest is supposed to end and I want to know what happened to them :/

Obvious spoilers.

Outcome 1 (bad)
she gets killed by the king

Outcome 2 (good)
if you can convince her to go to Kaer morhen
and (pretty big spoiler of end of second act)
she saves a certain Witcher from death

How am I ever to get to level 35 by doing so many greyed out missions.

The sidequests never really seem to give much XP tho, to be fair.

Just crafted the enhanced cat set and changed my build up a bit. Less reliance on alchemy (although I really like the alchemy, switching back to the inventory all the time because of only 2 potion quickslots is a nuisance) and more on fast attacks/Yrden. Still got like 13 points in alchemy though.

Guys I can not progress in the main story. The brothers in Arm:Skellige is not working after
you fight the bears in the dining hall
Any suggestions on what to do?

I dont think you get to see them but somewhere in novigrad they mention all the kids joining a class there. I killed the spirit so I have no idea but thats what I heard.

Ah, I think I know what happened. This is how Family Matters is supposed to play out (Spoilers of course). However I
freed the Tree Spirit BEFORE taking that quest
, so
the crones have no reason to be angry with Anna and didn't transform her. Tree Spirit still shows up and saves the kids though, difference being Anna actually human.

Best ending indeed?

Wait what?
You freed the spirit, saved Anna, saved the Kids and the baron did not hang himself? I dont think this is possible.
You think this happened because you set the spirit free before you had the quest to do so? Would be interessting if so.

Nah, I consider the baron hanging himself the best ending to that substory. It's a shame about his wife, but at least the kids got out alive which I think is more important.

Pretty cool, though. Actual decisions that aren't black and white.
The tree spirit is even more evil than the crones. Yeah, freeing it saves the kids, but the spirit then proceeds to kill dozens of people in the village, including children, and will probably go on to kill dozens or hundreds more.

Today has been pretty entertaining. Killed an ice elemental 10 levels over me while searching for the ursine gear. Then wandered upon the Possession quest and
threw a baby in an oven
. That was a pretty awesome quest. Love exploring and stumbling upon stuff.

Really?
I heard the spirit only went after those that tried to kill her

I'm trying to confirm that the kids did indeed survive. LovelySalsa just said something about the kids joining a class, so I'll try to find the school from the lady in the "Find Dandelion" subquest again. Unfortunately I finished that before even starting "Family Matters", so I have no idea where it is lol

I don't think that's accurate, the tree spirit goes after those that imprisoned it and her sacrificing their children to the crones, as such it destroys Downwarren. It's doubtful any children were killed in this attack, again these are the people giving the Crones their children.

I haven't actually gone back to the village that hired me to kill the spirit, is it full of corpses? When I made the decision to free the spirit I thought I could deal with whatever havoc it wreaks after it saves the children later, too bad it never shows up again. Still, I stand by my choices.

so yeah, im gonna have to know where to make that ursine armor. I had one of those robe/trenchcoat style things for a bit and geralt looked way too stylin to go back

I can actually make one of the advanced ones, but I dont have the first plans. Anyone knows where to get it?

(late baron quest spoilers)
The alderman of the town says that when the spirit made people go crazy they grabbed babies and slammed them against the ground and killed children just like they did each other.

For me it was like this:

I killed the thing in the tree, freed the Baron's wife and he left with her to heal her, the daughter went with this fire? guys and I completely forgot what happened to the children Anna watched over. Also I have freed the fetus.

You guys can keep saying they aren't quests, but the game clearly states that they are. In fact, I still have a treasure hunt stuck in my log book being incomplete since level 2 due to me clearing out the needed camp prior to getting tasked in doing so. They might not be "major side quests", but according to the developer, they are still quests.

Wasn't my point anyway though.

Anyone remember [what menial tasks]?

The vast, vast majority of POIs are not quests and are not recorded as such. I'm talking about Guarded Treasures, Sunken Treasures, Bandit Camps, etc. The game has a metric ton of actual defined Secondary Quests and Contracts that don't fall under the POI category.

spoilers for lvl 6 quest

disapointed that if you
save the tree spirit, he doesnt come back to kill the crones with you
. In fact, nothing changes except a couple of lines of dialogue.

I love that the
Gran ended up being the Baron's wife
tho, how
both quests connected

Hopefully you've read up a bit more on this now but, needless to say, there was a huge difference in outcomes, not just a few lines of dialogue. CDPR just doesn't beat your head over it so it's easy to feel like there weren't major differences.

See the book linked above. Also, when you go back to Downwarren after freeing the spirit, the alderman says the Black Beauty caused people to go mad and murder their "neighbors and young 'uns".

You lucky bastard! Though it probably won't change anything if the next game allows save importing and
anna will be dead.

wait there are people NOT using a sign build? oh you unimaginative fools :p

flamethrower, mind control, jedi mind tricks... damn it people

Here's a guide for all three Witcher Gear sets: http://www.gosunoob.com/witcher-3/best-armor/

thanks. just realised the gryphon set is the best for signs tho, and I actually have 2 pieces of it now. Might have to stick with it, go with usefulness instead of looks

An All Alchemy build is apparently strong too. You get a ton of health/different ways to regen, a lot of bombs that turn into cluster bombs that absolutely destroys mobs before they can even attack you , and other goodies.

1) How to check for xp bug?

I can just look at my level and see if my XP goes up by the amount awarded at the end of a misison right?

2) And how far am I if Im doing the Baron's quest?
using the baby spirit to find the wife and daughter

This is still super early right? I want to finish up with the baron, but dont want to rush

3) By the way, do some quests lock if you dont do it on time? Or is it dependent on how you approach other quests?

4) And do people get mad at you like in Dragon age? I feel I had more choice in dragon age in this regard, as choices seem to have one option so far, with the rest of the options acting as background info for story. Do choices open up?

Welp,
that's fucked up. Oh well, I suppose it's the lesser evil.

Maybe a whole village going nuts and every men and women tearing each apart would do then. As those villagers were obeying the sisters out of fear.
Fuck 'em, they deserved it for killing their children, even if they did it out of fear of the Crones.

So, on returning characters. How easy are they to find? People like
Roche, Letho, Iorveth, and the dragon I didn't kill (Roche's path).

Regarding the 4th question; hold on a little after you complete the Bloody Baron's questline you will be here arguing with people on what's wrong and what's worse when it comes to choices. And also a lot of people will be mad at you. Much much worse than in DA.

Jeez, didn't check the level of Oxenfurt Drunk quest (26, I'm on 19) and I died like 30 times now trying to defeat
that goddamn vampire something. At least luring him out was hilarious. Drunk, singing Geralt ftw.

Superior White Raffard's Decoction is semi OP potion. Restores you back to full health and grants you short immunity to all damage. 3 charges / meditation with 30 / 100 tox.

I went to the school and children were not there. However, so was their teacher. All replaced by generic NPCs (I did that quest before the whole Bloody Baron questline). Looking at all the information available to me they clearly DID survive, I just can't see it because I did the main quest out of order and can't see that cutscene again.

Time to get back to actually doing something in the game. Still, props to CDPR for making me care so much that I spend an hour trying to find the location of a quest I already completed.. Finally a worthy medieval fantasy WRPG after Gothic 2, I could cry tears of joy.

So I cannot see the Botchling profile/entry in the beastiary portion of my inventory. Is that a bug or am I not understanding the quest goal?
