Calling all PC players that are using DS4Windows: How do you map the "map" button onto the touch screen so I can just click the touchscreen to instantly get to the map? I know you can do it but got no idea how to work the program!
Check the "Scan Code" box when mapping the key.

Soo why does Geralt often refuse to surface when I hold the surface button? He'll think about it then decide maybe he doesn't want to breathe again.

Water causes signals from the brain to become scrambled for Witchers. It's an unfortunate side effect that makes swimming difficult for Geralt.

The swimming controls suck.

maybe he's just a bit depressed
happens a lot to me too...underwater movement sure would need a tune-up in this game

Even exit of cave can look pretty :D

Also forests, especially on Skellige, are so well done and most believable that I have seen in any game yet. Amount of trees, foliage, animals... Maybe modded Skyrim can do same or better, I don't know.

I might actually have the XP bug now. I'm not sure. I think I'll go do all the missions I'm overleveled for to waste time. I've got a lot of those anyways.

I guess nobody can be sure with the glitch but is it true if you're 6 levels above quests you get nothing? All of them? Does it exclude story quests?

Just trying to wrap my head around it all lol

No that's definitely true CDPR confirmed that. If you're 6 levels above, the quest will appear grayed out and won't grant experience.

Just finished Family Matters with what I presume is the best ending.
Undead embryo saved, Baron actually cares for his family, Mother saved from the crones
. Feels good man.

Just curious how my decision to
free the Tree Spirit
will pan out. The crones told me
Ciri would die, but then again the crones are pretty fucked up themselves and can't really be trusted.

But the orphans though? :(

Those kids got eaten. Happy ending

I think it's perfect now. Fast cast using face buttons. Alternate modes working.
Fought a pack of wolves and used all signs multiple times. Not one issue.

Note: macro is just press/release numerical key. Cast is R2+button = toggle Q.

If you have a dual shock 4 give it a try.

Too bad there's no shortcut for bombs.

come back awesome beard :(

oh by the way, there is a tower with a drawbridge at the very north of velen, a ? near another ? (the other is a place of power), is the only way to lower the drawbridge with the long range TK blast? if so thats weird that you need a specific talent for it

congratulations, you
killed a bunch of kids
:p

Hm now that you mention it I didn't see them when I came back to
save the baron's wife
. However there also wasn't a corpse of them in the village, so they miight still live. Maybe Johnny saved them?

EDIT: Maybe not though?

Nah you can hear them
being eaten

Rhaknar, try looking for a underwater entrance close to the Place of Power.

I have a feeling that those witches ate them with what they initially said about them being "sweet" and all that. Considering it's a trailer of treats, and kids are being attracted to it, I think they faced a horrible death.

Good to know, thanks. Kinda sucks cause I'm 7 above a story quest and I'm sure it would have given good XP but I guess I'll just do it lol

Yeah, I lost XP too due to being over leveled :(

Seems like I need to find a way to make bombs and potions and strengthen my signs

Im dying at frequent encounters with enemies in the story, and it's annoying, mostly due to load times and some checkpoints.

I like the combat, I just think Im ill prepared for some things.

One thing I dont get what people mentioned at the end

How can Gerald get killed by the crones if you killed them? Is it the one that made it out alive?

I stick to signs and bombs, then finish the kills off with my sword. Also dodge and perry.

Edit: upgrade axii to take over enemy's minds. You can always sit back and let them kill each other lol

hey bros. i'm just wondering if anyone could give me a rough idea of if i should buy this game for PC, or for ps4. here's my specs

AMD BOX AMD FX-4100 BLACK ED
GIGABYTE GTX650OC 2GB

idk, i prefer PC gaming but i'm curious
1. my performance vs ps4
and most importantly from you guys
2. bugs, how's this perform on console vs pc, any big problems on any platform?

Holy shit lol, mine didn't turn out like that at ALL.

No baby is saved, Tamara hates her father and doesn't want to ever return, Anna his wife is rescued from the crones with baron + geralt's help but she is in a bad mental state and Baron is going to take her to Blue Mountain or something to help heal her but Geralt thinks it's impossible because of the shit she has seen and that it's not a curse, she's mentally/psychologically scarred. Tamara stays behind and doesn't assist because she has been forced to responsibilities regarding the Eternal Fire and Witch Hunters so she can't help her mum. Tamara didn't want the baron to take her mother for help and she wanted to but her accompanying Witch Hunter said to Tamara that her father the baron shows remorse and acceptance of his actions and can see it in his eyes, so it seems Baron will be true to it. I wonder if I'll come across Baron again later.

That's a totally different outcome. Crazy.

Also the tree said the
kids/orphans anna looked after would die and they did for me when I arrived with baron for anna. I saw no children around and geralt said there are no kids. They're either dead or ran away or I dunno

I just failed a quest "Gangs of Novigrad" in Novigrad.
I spoke with the Redanian king after meeting Roche and as I step out I get a failed quest message because apparently I didn't speak with a guy named Cleaver.

Edit: nvm reloaded a save lol. Just I wasn't expecting that by completing a main quest I would fail a side quest.

EDit 2:
Yeah looks like I can't do gangs of Novigrad, Cleaver won't appear for me at the quest marker. Oh well.

Is the Fist of Novigrad quest bugged? I'm level 29 and fighting a level 14 dude. I die in three hits while one punch to him take away like 1/20 of his health. WTF!?

Just don't get yourself hit. I don't think your level has much relevance to this. Not like your points in Axii gives you a advantage in a fist fight.

Yes, it was...

Just some advice for others: Don't surf Neogaf and have vodka and rasperry juice.

Hopefully I'm wasted enough that I'll forget what I saw.

Lol

it was prolly the worst one to highlight in this thread. Drink up, friend, you'd need a blackout to forget it

I think yours is the best possible outcome outside of what you did with the
baby
. That's what I got and I doubt I could have realistically done anything else.

That will take a while right? I have to stick to one or two branches, and I get like 150 XP for some story missions

When I parry, I try to press square to counter, but it doesnt seem to land, or the swords just clash. Am I doing something wrong?

Rolling seems more effective than dodging, but rolling takes away from my sign regen

Someone said to think of this more like Batman, amd Im finding it more easier now, as I don't lock on to enemies. But it lacks the batman polish, so im trying to figure out how to best manage my magic and combat

So I have a general question about item/enemy level scaling.

I've been in Velen for a bit (somehow only level four, makes me wonder if that XP bug is biting me), and I've stumbled into the mines for the Missing Brother contract; this is a level 33 quest. I've made my way back to the boss, who of course one shots me.

All the minions leading up to it are level five. I opened a chest in the boss area and pulled some level one armor and boots. If I come back here at a more appropriate level there is no way the minions are level five and the equipment is level one, right?

It's making me wonder if I'd be better off not stumbling into these areas thinking I'm going to get ahead of the game grabbing some cool stuff early on. Now there is a decoction that I do not have in the chest, which leads me to another question. If the items in the chest do scale with level, are they set once I interact with the chest? In other words can I grab the decoction formula without affecting the other contents of the chest for later? Ultimately I doubt the items will be anything mind blowing later in the game anyway, but I'm still curious.

I absolutely love the beginning in Skellige.
The wake at night, the enchanting music, the quiet yet noticeable tension in the air with Geralt and Yen as two outsiders watching.

I'm absolutely loving the game so far but the main story (so far) is all to much "go to place Ciri was - do a favour for someone - find out what she did / where she went."

I'd like them to mix it up a bit.

Nah, I consider the baron hanging himself the best ending to that substory. It's a shame about his wife, but at least the kids got out alive which I think is more important.

Pretty cool, though. Actual decisions that aren't black and white.

If you're having trouble with combat then practicing evading until you can stay alive against a group of enemies indefinitely, then start adding swipes in during the openings.

Let them come to you. Counter and strike or press the step dodge and quick step back while they lunge to leave then open to a combo. Try not to roll unless you need to escape multiple enemy attacks. Check the bestiary for enemy weakness.

Hitting from behind scores critical damage. Press step dodge and forward when close to spin around behind an enemy. If locked on you can instantly hit them from behind. Very handy for bosses.
