GOD DAMN! I just fought and defeated a lvl 48 Archgriffin I found, I'm only lvl 37. Boy, was that an intense fight. I died many times as it was basically a one hit kill type deal, however I was finally able to carefully line up my attacks and dodge swiftly, relying heavily on Quen for its cheap ass counter attacks. Of course, the treasure it was guarding was utter crap but at least the fight was fun.

I did the exact same thing with a Forktail that was level 15, while I was 7. Very intense fight, loved every second of it.

This game has the best quest design of any RPG I've played. Every quest, including the side quests like the Witcher contracts have fun, unique and interesting stories attached to them. It really does put to shame games like dragon age (which I was playing previously) with their 'collect 20 berry plants' etc. Every developer current and future who will be making an RPG need to look at this game and see what they've done. If I ever see a 'collect 10 bear hides' quest again it'll be too soon.

The bloody baron and keira Metz quest lines are better than 99% of games yet they're only a small part of this one. Incredible.

So, y'all who are playing, you are just ignoring the XP glitch or what?

I don't think it affects everyone.

I've got it, but I'm still getting XP from things like Abandoned Sites and some of the smaller, yellow exclamation mark sidequests, so I've just been riding around the countryside for the last couple of days. And playing Gwent, of course.

I think I fucked up my Novigrad Main Quest Line!

spoilers:
I've finished the Get Junior questline. And I have the the one with the vault still open. Problem is that when that one started, Sigi led me down to the vault to where Bart is. Because I knew that Dandelion had been planing a heist I felt like I don't want to touch this yet. Witcher quest consequences and such. Anyway I told him I'll get back later. So now I can activate the quest again (even though the first part "Follow Dijstra" is marked as failed, the next two steps are green and there is an active Step "Return to Dijkstra when you are ready" and marks his location in the bathhouse office. When I go to talk to him I can't select anyhting about reactivating the quest though. Should I just head to Skellige now?

Can't you go down to the sewer below the baths, directly?

Yes you can, just make sure you read them once before doing so as it can add new bestiary notes etc. Many of the important notes will be in your quest inventory tab, and after having been read automatically gets moved to the consumable tab for you to do whatever you want with them. Very stupid I know since they go above potions.

I use the bookkeeper in Novigrad to sell all my books and letters.

Where is this bookkeeper I keep hearing about!

pls respond

So... where's the
King of Beggars hideout
in Novigrad? I can't find it and the whole city feels like a maze. I want to go to the merchant there.

It's an area where you have to knock first in the double wooden door to enter (you have to know the password, ie do the story quest), inside there is a little plaza in a closed off area.

Goddamn it.

Ok CDRP I'm gonna buy the season pass.
After the fiasco with Bungie releasing almost no content in the Destiny season pass I'd promised myself I would never pay for a season pass up front without knowing exactly what it contained.

But this game man. I'm level 13 finished with the Baron and the Ladies of the Wood and about ready for Novigrad. Found the Griffin set by accidentally stumbling on the cave when I was just exploring. Seen the fantastic vista of the sunrise from that ruined castle up the mountain to the south east. Got a bunch of trophies from killing a bunch of crazy creepy monsters. I've come to really enjoy the combat which can be both tactical and tense on Broken Bones.

This is the best RPG I've played since Planescape Torment without question really. So damn it. I'm buying the season pass. These guys deserve the money.

There's still no reason to pay up front. CDPR isn't including any ridiculous pre-order bonuses. Just buy it when the first bit reviews well.

He is in Hierarch Square, the same location where you meet

I'm maybe a few hours from heading to Isle of Mists. Approximately how far through the game am I? I have it on Steam so there's no way to see % complete (AFAIK.)

So... are Velen(and Novigrad which seems to be part of it) and Skellige Isles the only major zones in the game? I know they're freaking huge, but, just curious. I don't really count White Orchard and Kaer Morhen since they're not that big to begin with.

All of a sudden my PS4 copy has started turning to shit, was fine last night. Now my game is stopping every 10 or so seconds to load a little bit, framerate has plummeted, and when i go to the map or my inventory, the screen keeps going black for a second then comes back, then flickers again.

Strange how it all changes just like that

Digital or physical? That's weird because I've never had that problem. My worst problem so far is the framerate.

Damn, these Druids are actually total bros.
"Curing" the mute guy and the "ritual" I prepared were both really funny.

Well, there goes my second playthrough. My wife wants to play it now. She doesn't even like video games, dammit!
Yeah, we're at a point where I'm forbidden to play any quest alone, she's as engrossed as I am. Sharing an RPG is an awesome thing.

Why is it wearing on you exactly?
.
I'm on Reuven's Treasure and lord they did not know when to stop. It's full of references that totally contradict CDPR's "most accessible yet" claims and are frankly just over exposition. For a game that gives so many "not my problem" dialogue choices, they skimped on it here and there have now been at least a couple of these multi-hour quests that are droning on with irrelevant references to the past or obviously trying to expand themselves.

Finding the women that
Dandelion
romanced was poorly filled too. I now understand some reviewers mentioning a bit of fluff in W3. This huge script covers more than Geralt bargained for often times.

And now I've seen NPC faces repeat three or more times for many characters, defeating the previous impression that they had supposedly done the best at NPC appearances. There really aren't enough faces for me to be impressed on the variety assessment.

quick question about
Dandelion's
quest

so after the bathhouse,
theres a quest called Get Junior involving whoreson and whatnot, but at the same time, I started a quest for the ex-spy guy to find out who broke into his vault, which was dandelion as we already knew, and now im thinking, if I do this quest, will that lock me out of get junior, since the whole thing was about finding out where dandelion was anyway?

I just checked. I actually can. I also find clues there but geralt is not really reacting to them, because I'm not at that part of the quest yet. So as long as I don't have a way to reactivate the quest it's blocked.

At least I found other people that have this problem and it's been reported. I hope we'll get this fixed soon.

[edit] apparantly there is a later part of the quest that you can trigger. But you need to read up on it. Something about destroying a wall somewhere...

I hope it isn't the new update, 1.3 i think, i was playing last night and it was all good and dandy, i won't install the update when i get home just in case.

I started the game in the hardest dificulty, i can finally enjoy the combat, playing on normal was such a drag, everything just died when i hit it and i could just tank hits like nothing, now even drowners and wolfs are a challenge, so preparing for a fight and using magic and items during fights it's super important. Really digging it. It's refreshing to play a open world modern rpg with good combat(at least on death march) , i love DA:O and ME, but god i hate the combat in those :(

Do the vault quest first, as there is a bug with it if you wait to long (see my post a few above)

Are you sure there's a bookkeeper there? The dude you circled is the banker.

I'm absolutely loving this game. Probably one of my favourite RPG's of all time at this point.

But my god I hate Ciri's voice actress. She sounds so wooden compared to the rest of the cast. I know Geralt is a bit monotone too but he's always been this gruff, not very bothered in anything sort of character lol. But Ciri's voice acting is so cringe worthy.

My only complaint with the game to be honest. Phenomenal game!

So how do I get to the Skellige Isles? I can't sail there can I? Just have to wait to get to the appropriate point in the main quest line that takes me there?

Also, is there a way to get labels on the map? I just realized the cities aren't labeled.

my beard is taking ages to grow back and its making me sad. me and Geralt, we're both sad.

are these contract trophies good for anything besides using one of them? or should I just sell them, because they are taking both inventory space and weight

edit: also all these letters and books in the potions tab, can I sell all of this shit? I just want my potions there ;(
Sometimes when you choose a different hairstyle your beard doesn't grow back so you have to switch back to the original in order for it to grow again.

I remember when I switched back because my beard wasn't growing and when the barber was done the full beard was back.

Could really do with an answer for this, if anyone knows.

I need a little advice/help, regarding Triss and Kaer Morhan.

I somewhat lategame I'm guessing, at the main quest where I have to
gather friends to help in the fight against The Wild Hunt.
Seems I'm not doing to good already;
Talked to Emhyr, but didn't come to terms with him. Not sure what I should've said to do, seemed like there was little choice. Then I went after Triss. I was already in the middle of a quest with her, where you go to the ball, and romancing Yen, so no hanky panky at the ball. The entire quest line just ended with her leaving by boat, and I never got the option to talk to her about helping at Kaer Morhan. Do you HAVE to romance her for her to come help
? Please try not to spoil further events in your answer, only just finished that quest :) Just looking to know if I could have done this different, if then, how.

Oh god, i think i've encountered the quest exp bug. Done a few main quests in Novigrad,
Met Triss and did the dreamer part
, didn't get any exp from either of them.

yup. only saw her in 2 sections so far but it seems her tone is entirely random.

You have to pay a boat to get you there, 1,000 crowns, and then there's some level 16 fighting to be done when you first land. Otherwise, you can technically go whenever, and there's plenty of mid level quests there too.

Apparently there's some tricky way you can
not romance her and get her to come
, no idea.

The idea of missable trophies in a 200+ hour game really irks me,
I romanced Triss at the boat so I could get the full crew trophy but I've read that people managed to not romance her and she'd still stay behind, I have no idea. Also, I don't get how the Battle at Kaer Morhen works without Triss either.

Making my way through this again I think I like Keira even more than the first time. Her facial animations are probably the best in the game and I really like her dynamic with Geralt. Was she in TW2? I don't remember seeing her.

Once you get to Novigrad you just gotta pay for a ship to take you there. You can completely skip over the quests if you happen to have 1000 crowns when you arrive. Wouldn't advice it though since the main stuff in Skillege is 16+

You need to do the quest "Destination: Skellege". You get it pretty early on. Be warned you will be forced to fight several level 16 enemies before arriving, so don't go too early.

This game has so many small bugs and just janky issues that it really adds up and detracts from the overall experience.

Christ, so bug-ridden. I just lost the third round of the Gwent tournament during a certain quest in which you have to play three rounds back to back because I used Decoy on one card but another card was returned to my hand.

And to top it all off, I didn't even get experience for the quest so I ended up reloading the entire thing anyways.

Time to shelve the game until CDPr fixes their shit. What a mess.

I agree.

The game is so fantastic when it's all working properly but I don't remember a game in recent memory that released buggier than this. It sort of annoys me that a lot of people are giving CD Project Red the benefit of the doubt 'cause they show 'fan appreciation' but Unity got torn apart in reviews for how buggy it was and this has rarely received anything lower than a 9.

I'll admit, it's one of my favourite RPGs of all time but there's some serious issues. Game-breaking bugs and all sorts.
