The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt |OT2| Wanted to find Ciri, but everything Gwent wrong

I'm not quite sure if it works exactly the same but
there is another person (aka Yen) you can give that crystal to.
So you're not consigned to the
Radovid option
if you did Triss sidequests first.

Do you
have to have already travelled to Skellige first or will it get added once you get there? Because for me the Triss point is marked as failed and the only option left is to go to Radovid. But I haven't been to Skellige yet.

Couple of questions.

1. Are there any time-sensitive side quests?
2. During the
looking for Dandelion
quest in Novigrad, I came upon a clothes merchant who sells masks but apparently they're quest items for
some sort of masquerade.
Is this a quest from later in the game?

Is the early quest "Dirty Funds" glitched? It keeps telling me to start the quest by reading something I picked up. I've read everything but it doesnt help.

It's for a later quest.

Are axes and maces worth using or should I stick to swords? Some of them have way higher damage than swords.

It will get added, though not outright after your arrival. I think I got that dialogue option only after doing
Yen's sidequest.

never left the stone age
WHen importing the Witcher 2 save. Do I just pick the final autosave made by W2? It autosaves after your encounter with Letho right?

1. Yes. A couple. I'd suggest doing every sidequest you can before leaving an area. One that really bothered me because it failed without me realizing was
Lambert's

2. Yes. Specifically it's
Triss' first personal quest

If we're talking about friendly warnings for Now or Never, remember that this is Triss' personal quest. If you still haven't decided if you want to pursue Triss or Yennefer I HIGHLY recommend postponing this quest until you go to the next area and get to know Yen. There have been plenty of cases here of people doing this for Triss and then getting to know Yen and regretting already being serious with Triss.

Wasn't an issue for me and others though. Triss for life.
Honestly, they're both pretty bad choices. There should be an option to
dig up
Renfri.

So, we know that heavier armor makes Geralt slower (dodge etc). My question is, how does it work?

It's simple when you have all 4 of the same weight class equipment:
4x Heavy gear = Really slow
4x Medium gear = Average
4x Light gear = Very Agile

But what happens when you mix these armors?
1 Light Armor
1 Medium Guantlets
1 Medium Boots
1 Light Trousers

What's the agility of this setup? Is the agility counted by total weight of a setup? Or is it based on how many light armors you have on? The strategy guide is pretty poorly written in terms of gameplay mechanics.

Anyone know?

I see, thanks.

One thing that's bothering me is that I want to do quests but they're way above my level. For instance, this
Hattori quest I just picked up called 'Of Swords and Dumplings' suggests that I meet him at midnight but it's level 24 and I'm level 14.
I really hope it's not time-sensitive.

Okay, I have a lot of alchemy stuff in my Inventory. I'm still in the start of the game, where I'm looking for the Baron's family. Should I just sell all of my alchemy ingredients or should I just keep them, until I have the rolls that allows me to make different things?

It's not. Whatsoever. That's a quest you'll need to do later for sure if you want to make
mastercrafted weapons
but for now? You're fine. In fact I was able to do that quest like 4 levels below without issue.

Haven't noticed any difference in Geralt's speed. The only difference is how fast Stamina regenerates.

Keep them, alchemy ingredients barely weigh anything at all. That said, if you have more than 10 of something, consider selling a few to an alchemist/herbalist/mage. That is a bigger stack than necessary

Phantom of the Trade Route spoilers
Was a little disappointed that the Royal Wyvern you fight after the smaller Wyverns fights in pretty much the exact same way. Really starting to love the combat though anyway, particularly one on ones

There certainly is a difference. Esp the short dodge speed and distance. Try a full light gear setup against some fast enemies (drowners etc), and try to short dodge. It will be easy to evade. Now try a full heavy or medium gear, and do the same. You'll notice how short dodge is a little slower, and you don't get that much of a distance.

Once and for all, hopefully someone can answer this:

Is it safe to sell your starting equipment? Are those swords needed for anything? Can you upgrade the armor after that first upgrade?

How about relic weapons, any real need to hang on to them if you already have something stronger?

anyone?

Keep them. Never sell alchemy ingredients.

I kept them for the first 35 hours then said fuck it and sold them. 20 hours later, still didn't find any use for them but I'm pretty much ignoring any crafting and hunts for schematics so I'm not exactly the best person to tell you if its completely safe.

Ugh I hate this. I'm about to do Redania's Most Wanted soon, but I literally just finished Now or Never.

If
Triss has already said bon voyage
after completing her side quest, you can complete Redania's Most Wanted by speaking to
Yennifer
in Skellige. Either she or Triss will help you progress with the quest, so no worries!

Is someone doing a guide to what quests should be done before starting on specific others as to not miss out/fail crucial things? I know this sort of works against the freedom the player is supposed to have, but I'd honestly use something like that if I restarted.

Yep. Haven't played all weekend because of it.

Are you sure the bug is really affecting you? You hardly get any if at all, XP for doing secondary/contract quests. Story quests are what offer XP for the most part. Every now and then I'll get XP from other quests though, just not most of the time.

With a few exceptions, like the starter armor that you can upgrade once, only Witcher gear from Cat/Griffin/Bear school can be upgraded. You're free to sell anything else, even relics.

Remember though that you can dismantle any weapon/armor with runes/glyphs to get them back.

I love the sky/clouds in the game, beautiful sunset over Novigrad. My settings are only a mix of high and ultra, my PC isn't good enough to play full ultra at a decent 60 FPS. Still beautiful though.

Looks a lot like a sunset I saw the other day IRL.

Alright. It's just that I think I have around 3 blocks left for ingredients.

Also, I'm selling of the items in the last tab, like dolls, broken things and stuff like that - because I don't know how I can make use of it. Only know how to sell.

Okay, seriously... what am I doing wrong with dodging and rolling? I'm finding it damn near impossible to enter a fight with multiple beasts and come out of it without a huge chunk of health missing. I've started treating combat like Bloodborne where I just get one or two hits in, then backroll to put distance between between myself and the group, but it always seems like the three or four other enemies attack at the same time, with damn near infinite range, and always during the roll, leaving the act of dodging completing pointless if I'm losing the health anyways.

So far I'm undefeated in Gwent. Currently trying out the questline in Velen ( yeah ... still in Velen a week later ) that has you going around to shopkeepers and other players to play against them. So far beaten all the innkeepers and beaten the Baron along with someone else, forget who. Its a pretty fun game. Nothing overly complicated.

Seems any card that will draw more cards is what you want to use on most occassions. And if the opponent goes nuts on any single line, just hope you have that storm card on hand to default them back to 1 per card. Seems to be some strategy in keeping your cards around for the next round, so sometimes better to cut your losses. Like one match the guy was just pummeling me and used a storm card on both my better lines, so I just started using Decoys to gather 3 of my best cards back in my hand so I could reuse em the next match.

After doing the main Ard Skellig side quests, have to say, Cerys is my girl. She and Keira followed a similar trajectory for me where, at first, I found them likable but forgettable, but after spending time with them, they both really grew on me.

Contracts hand out good xp. Say 250ish at a time. Side quests vary a lot. Seems like you got smacked with the xp bug.

In White Orchard you need to complete any and all sidequests before doing...I can't remember the quest but it's after you kill the Gryphon.

Before traveling to the
Isle of Mists
you should complete all side quests/story quests that involve main characters like Triss, well actually here's a full list - http://www.vg247.com/2015/05/15/the-witcher-3-brothers-in-arms-velen-walkthrough/

http://www.vg247.com/2015/05/15/the-witcher-3-brothers-in-arms-skellige-walkthrough/

I believe that's how it works atleast. All other quests are completable. I instantly failed Brothers in Arms Velen because of how I approached Keira's questline.

afaik there are no more quests that will invalidate other quests upon moving on with the story. I could definitely be wrong though.
