Just played my first round of Gwent. Haven't got a clue what I'm doing. Thought I won first round and that second round you're given your cards back, which wasn't the case and I got owned straight away as I didn't have a single card for the second round hahaha. It's really well fleshed out though. Looks like a great fit for a mobile only game to be fair. Cat believe I'm even saying that *Shudder*

I feel like I'm the only person in the world that mainlines open world games. I spent like 2 hours in White Orchard before I bailed. Any fetch quests that take me outside of the villages they originate in I just skip.

We'll see how grindy I end up getting in the endgame though

This Wraith fight in Family Matters is really not helped by the lack of checkpoints or the fuck-off loading screen every time you die

Skellige is so fucking beautiful it hurts. Last night I spent half an hour on a beach watching Wyverns soar over the moon-kissed sea.

Regarding the end of Keira's questline:

Is it easy to miss the "good" outcome or something? Surprised by the number of people who said that they had to kill her. To me the conversation options to get her to Kaer Morhen seemed pretty straight forward but I don't know if there are contingencies to get that dialogue that other people are missing.

She seems to have a short temper... I called her out on using me and she attacked! I reloaded and was nicer with her but I sort of regret it :/ Dunno if it would be good having that sort of person in Kaer Morhen.

If they are quest essential then they show up in the Quest section until no longer needed and then they get moved into the other tab (for example, Witcher School Scavenger hunts). You should be clear to drop and/or sell the others.
No advantage to carrying them after you read them as far as I can tell, unless it's a quest important one.
Thanks, that's what I was expecting. There are some that obviously that you need to keep due to the quests but as mentioned, there separate anyway. I think I'm going to make my way to the bookseller in Novigrad, it may get me a few extra coins and from what I can tell when you sell something to a merchant, they keep it. That way if the game surprise me by me later on, at least I know exactly where to go to buy the book.

Thanks again. :)

Seriously. I need some help with
Jenny of the Woods.

I must not know how to use yrden or something. I cast it so she is right in the middle, and she just slips right away and once she is outside of the area I can't damage her. It took me at least 7 minutes to get her down to 1/3 health and then she hit me twice and I died. I keep casting quen but I cannot figure out how to get enough damage on her, and she takes off 1/4 of my health every time she hits me. The main thing is that I cannot get enough hits on her because she is invincible outside of yrden, and I can't use it for shit. I'm also 2 levels above her now and still can't win. Fuck.

In the Quick Links section of the OP there is a site. However atm the Potions and Oils pages are only partially complete. Hoping they continue to update them going forward.

Some of these are wrong at first glance. You don't start off the game with Swallow or Cat potions, only Tawny Owl. Same with the Oils, you don't start with any.

If you choose the "You used me" option (which I think is a tan, not yellow choice.) Then Geralt gets pretty aggressive at insulting her, which then causes her to become defensive and the two options are then to let her get away or fight her.

After getting through that hell I've ran into a bug which makes the quest uncompletable.

So the last time I left the game, the
spirit had just led me to that Fisherman's Hut
. I saved and quit right outside.

I've just tried to load up the game and it immediately quits to desktop any save which was made after
I've summoned the spirit
. I've replayed that whole section and now whenever I get near the
Fisherman's house
the game crashes.

I'm still agonizing over the Triss/Yennifer thing. If you choose
Triss the game does a fantastic job of making you feel like a gigantic douchebag. "Oh, you're Geralt? From the ballads of Yennifer and Geralt? You know, the woman you've been chasing for 3 games? The one that put herself into mortal danger, just so she could be sure she loved you? How are you two lovebirds doing?" "Uh, well...I summarily dumped her seconds after she told me she loved me and only me in the coldest way possible."

I just feel like such a heel. Absolutely wonderful writing on all accounts there. I do feel like the the game is telling me that I made the wrong choice. Considering the amount of real life time that has passed since
I last saw Triss and all, it really feels like they thought most people would go for Yenn.

I'll try to explain as best as I could.

You MUST have 22 regular cards in your deck. Otherwise you won't be able to play.

You can also have UP TO 10 Special cards as well (optional but worth it).. Special cards are things like doubling your card's strength or adding weather effects to weaken enemy's cards. They are game changers when the time comes.

Once the game begins, you choose from 4 Factions. Go with the Norther Kingdoms since you start out with the most cards with them.

After that, you and the computer player start placing your cards. It's pretty self explanatory after that. Whoever has the higher number wins.

It is best of three rounds...so you need to win 2. For each Round that you win or lose, whatever normal cards you used will go to your discard pile. Sometimes you'll have some awesome cards that will let you redraw some of the cards in your discard pile.

Basically, keep playing and you'll see how fun it is...you'll get the hang of it after a few games. And most importantly, read what each card does. Some have special perks you should take advantage of. You'll end up loving it.

By the way, those wondering about the choice at the end of Towerful of Mice:
In the in-game description I have of my quest choice (I chose to bring her bones to Graham) it also says releasing the Pesta was responsible for the unleashing of a disease that destroyed an entire coastal city several years later.
I was appalled, just goes to show how far-reaching your choices can be.

They like to make you feel guilty either way. When I opted not to kiss Triss, she looked absolutely heartbroken. Then when I let her get on the boat to leave, her and Geralt were both achingly sad over the whole thing. It made me feel kinda bad. Then as soon as she's on the boat, Djikstra berates you for letting her go. Calling you an oaf, an ass, and a string of other names.

Bait her inside the yrden circle. Dodge, attack, repeat as she will probably move away from the circle. You have to damage her inside the circle, don't attack outside.

I'm sure this has been asked multiple times, but do I have to have played the first 2 witchers to full enjoy this one? also is there a site somewhere that tells me if my computer can run this game?

Fuck that
Inn Keeper lady from White Orchard.
Novigrad quest spoilers
Starting shit during a night of music and poetry. Vesemir should have let her get her head smashed in.

Oh yeah.
I'm fairy sure I saved her from getting beaten, maybe even to death and this is how she repays me ? No decency left in this world.

Japanese version of the Priscilla song is pretty well done. Is there an option to download different language packs ? Seeing all these characters speak in Nippon tongue is so weird, I want do a full playthrough with their dub.

Game continues to blow me away. I think the only rage inducing moment I had in over 30 hours involved the swimming controls, which are wonky as fuck on a pad.

Yeah I just arrived there about an hour ago. Time to go to work though so I only just walked to the first village, checking out the scenery.

Also, I wish the game wouldn't play that opening cutscene every time. I don't get why CDPR does that, honestly, they did it with W2 as well.

And what's up with Dandelion's voice? Only six months passed between the end of W2 and beginning of W3, did he get a throat infection or something?

Goddamn the second area is HUGE. Like wow.

I managed to find some random tomb filled with wraiths, so I got my emerald dust and crafted both viper swords. Doing some pretty good damage now.

Only bummer is that you can't really explore too much at first in Velen. Lots and lots of stuff way over my level that's kicking my ass. I went over the entire map in White Orchard and seemingly did everything there is to do so I guess I'll just follow the story for a bit to find some level-appropriate side quests.

That's so annoying. "Geralt of Rivia seeking his lover of yore!" over and over again.

Thanks :) yeah I can see the appeal already. Nice minigame to wind down to after a long day at work to be fair.

You really should play the second one to fully appreciate the secondary quests throughout much of the game.

There are many of us who are new to the series and are loving the game. Post the specs of your rig in this thread and you'll get some feedback on it.

Ha. Well, kudos to CRProjekt for finally selling me on a video game romance. I would watch the shit out of a Witcher show.

they dont force us to fuck her or anything do they?
to hell with the canon, im going Triss first playthrough

They do spend a lot of time
trying to force her down your throat
. It's not too bad though.
I largely ignored her, only releasing the genie's spell because I saw that as my chance to rectify a crappy romantic adherence to the book canon.
She did have
a rather amusing reaction to me when I refused to apologize for laying pipe to Triss
.

Don't use Quen until you need time to regen health with Swallow. Just keep using Yrden and luring her back to the trap when she slips out. Also oil up.
Other than that... git gud with dodging her.

The story summaries you mean? Pretty sure it's there to hide a good portion of the loading.

Best way to do it imo.

The ONE time I had moderate success and thought I MAY win, I did this and it worked but I do very very little damage to her and she doesn't stay in the yrden long enough for me to get a couple of hits on her. I'm talking I can go 3-4 minutes without dying, but she is constantly regenerating health and I just am not able to get enough hits on her.

Nothing else in this game has given me any trouble but this is just is getting frustrating. About to come back in about 3-4 levels and just decimate it.
