The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt |OT2| Wanted to find Ciri, but everything Gwent wrong

I'm still agonizing over the Triss/Yennifer thing. If you choose
Triss the game does a fantastic job of making you feel like a gigantic douchebag. "Oh, you're Geralt? From the ballads of Yennifer and Geralt? You know, the woman you've been chasing for 3 games? The one that put herself into mortal danger, just so she could be sure she loved you? How are you two lovebirds doing?" "Uh, well...I summarily dumped her seconds after she told me she loved me and only me in the coldest way possible."

I just feel like such a heel. Absolutely wonderful writing on all accounts there. I do feel like the the game is telling me that I made the wrong choice. Considering the amount of real life time that has passed since
I last saw Triss and all, it really feels like they thought most people would go for Yenn.

Yes, fantastic writting indeed.
Both Yen and Triss are fantastic in my opinion and while it feels like they want you to choose Yen as it makes more sense if one followed the books they also did a pretty nice job with Triss. Talking with her makes you really feel that she didn't want things to be the way they were (them separated) but tried really hard to keep away. I found it adorable when I started to flirt with her again and watched her reactions. In the end, seeing her come back from the ship was pretty cool. They made me feel like an idiot when I told Yen I didn't love her after the last wish was lifted, Yen is possessive, uses you a lot, can be pretty secretive and I was ready to say no, but after saying it... yea. Good job CDPR. Still, #TeamTriss.

Also, I wish the game wouldn't play that opening cutscene every time. I don't get why CDPR does that, honestly, they did it with W2 as well.

And what's up with Dandelion's voice? Only six months passed between the end of W2 and beginning of W3, did he get a throat infection or something?

I'm not sure if this is considered a spoiler or not and I think it gets mentioned in Journal somewhere but
I think this is Dandelion from quite a few years in the future doing the narration. Looking back at the events of this story.
I haven't met him yet so I'm not sure if I'm correct.

By the way, those wondering about the choice at the end of Towerful of Mice:
In the in-game description I have of my quest choice (I chose to bring her bones to Graham) it also says releasing the Pesta was responsible for the unleashing of a disease that destroyed an entire coastal city several years later.
I was appalled, just goes to show how far-reaching your choices can be.
Yeah see, that pissed me off.
I understand it wasn't going to get me payment and Witchers don't take jobs for free blah blah blah, but I wanted to track the Pesta down.

please get the fuck off my boat you winged strumpets

That 66 water. Glad to see a man at sea come prepared.

Seriously. I need some help with
Jenny of the Woods.

I must not know how to use yrden or something. I cast it so she is right in the middle, and she just slips right away and once she is outside of the area I can't damage her. It took me at least 7 minutes to get her down to 1/3 health and then she hit me twice and I died. I keep casting quen but I cannot figure out how to get enough damage on her, and she takes off 1/4 of my health every time she hits me. The main thing is that I cannot get enough hits on her because she is invincible outside of yrden, and I can't use it for shit. I'm also 2 levels above her now and still can't win. Fuck.
Outside of Yrden, if you have Moon Dust bomb, it will make her corporeal. Which means she will be vulnerable without Yrden. Quen, dodge, and spam fast attack.

In addition to the advice already given, is your sword any good? It's easy to go a long time without upgrading your silver sword. Easy until you hit quests like this, that is. If you haven't been doing the scavenger hunts, you might want to start.

I don't think so since Geralt is in the crowd. I think it was some travelling peddler telling a story to make people afraid.

Oh yeah.
I'm fairy sure I saved her from getting beaten, maybe even to death and this is how she repays me ? No decency left in this world.

Japanese version of the Priscilla song is pretty well done. Is there an option to download different language packs ? Seeing all these characters speak in Nippon tongue is so weird, I want do a full playthrough with their dub.
I want to hear a recording of this, anyone got it?

You all certainly didn't lie: A Towerful of Mice was one amazing goddamn quest! Also came across the short Allgod quest on the way to meet Keira which was absolutely hilarious.

All in all, a great way to end the day.

More gushing on the writing in this game- the conversation between Geralt and Triss (very early Novigrad spoiler)
while waiting for the ratchasing magic to kick in
was the most honest and real relationship discussion I've ever seen in a game.

What the...? You can fail at quests!

Warning for early act 2
Someone is selling a pass for 100. I deny and he proposes I help his brother kill monsters. I go and the brother dies in the battle. Like an idiot I went back and told him instead of giving him the 100 coins.

I hope I won't miss any content.

-After the new patch I can see the loot!

-The game is incredible. However the combat prevents it from being even better. No sense of weight, cannot feel the hits, AI is glitchy... Just serviceable. Playing this after Bloodborne is tough.

5) Allow the player to mark things as junk so it can all be sold with one button press
If an item is labelled junk, it doesn't necessarily mean it's useless like in some other games, where it's purely meant to be sold/dropped and has no other purpose. Junk can be broken down into components that may or may not be useful. Either way, I can understand why there's not a one-button thing for this.

asking this again..

are there any negative repurcussions for finding and
looting a guarded treasure
before finding a letter or anything that's supposed to lead you there?

I'm sure this has been asked multiple times, but do I have to have played the first 2 witchers to full enjoy this one? also is there a site somewhere that tells me if my computer can run this game?

You don't have to, but Witcher 2 is a good game and I recommend it to almost anyone. Why not play it? You'll probably enjoy that, and then you'll enjoy your time with Witcher 3 even more.

They like to make you feel guilty either way. When I opted not to kiss Triss, she looked absolutely heartbroken. Then when I let her get on the boat to leave, her and Geralt were both achingly sad over the whole thing. It made me feel kinda bad. Then as soon as she's on the boat, Djikstra berates you for letting her go. Calling you an oaf, an ass, and a string of other names.

Don't regret my decision so far even though Yen is kinda growing on me. But I also was willing to essentially destroy the revolution(and future of the Kingdom) I spent half the game helping build in order to save
Triss
in Witcher 2, so whatever.

So, why is there a limit on the amount of save slots? And also, why is that amount varying between individuals? I have read people having 8, some have 10, and I have 7. What the fuck?

I thought his second line addressed the loading recaps voice. The intro scene is obviously narrated by some priest guy unless I'm going completely crazy.

Woops, I thought you meant the intro scene >.< You're definitely right about who voices the recaps. Goes along with the way the Witcher 2 was told.

You can also fail quests you didn't even know about. I think subquests you're no longer eligible for count as failed.

Is it possible to go throughout the game choosing no one to romance? I'm contemplating going single outside that one night with the
Pellar and his goat
Princess.

Fuuuuuu. So that was the fight at Kaer Morhen. It sucks that the game didn't gave a shit about me choosing for Triss instead of Yen, just a hi and a bye.

I know! I shaved like 10 hours ago and it's still rubbish.

Yeah, it's odd, my beard came back strong after the first shave upon leaving White Orchard. But I just got a new clean shave in Oxfurt and it seems like it's taking forever to re-grow.

Maybe meditating makes the beard grow faster as you're essentially skipping in-game time? I know I've been meditating less as I've gotten better at combat.

Must be a console thing. I had unlimited save slots and I saved... 60 times according to folder.

CDPR has been amazing at communicating the pathos of the region, be it via side quests or just NPC chatter in the villages. Fuck Radovid. Fuck Emreis. I can't bring myself to loot anything from these people.

But when I hit a Redanian or Nilfgaardian encampment or a bandit camp, I loot everything I can lay my hands on.

The silver sword I have been trying to use for this fight is the Addan Deith. Right now, with it, my dps for silver sword is 424. I believe I got it from
another level 10 witcher contract, where you kill some grave hag at a cemetery
. I had just picked it up right before I tried to fight
Jenny
and it has better stats than my Griffin and Viper swords.

The ONE time I had moderate success and thought I MAY win, I did this and it worked but I do very very little damage to her and she doesn't stay in the yrden long enough for me to get a couple of hits on her. I'm talking I can go 3-4 minutes without dying, but she is constantly regenerating health and I just am not able to get enough hits on her.

Nothing else in this game has given me any trouble but this is just is getting frustrating. About to come back in about 3-4 levels and just decimate it.

use your cross-bow to shoot the clones at a distance instead of wasting time running to slash them. That'll slow down or kill the regeneration and you'll be able to slowly train her the life down.

I've noticed that it grows back faster if you faster travel between areas like Velen and White Orchard.

TW2 Spoilers:

So TW2 ending in which everyone goes crazy in Loc Muinn and starts lynching all the mages is canon? That ending only happened if you decided to not help Triss but instead Vernon or Iorveth. Cause the save file which I imported I did save Triss and there was no crazy mob lynching mages in the epilogue yet in TW3 there are witch hunters everywhere who love to burn mages.

Thanks, but

Days:4, Hours:4, Minutes:51, Seconds:58

...what?

You didn't ask for an accurate count so...

Really bugs me that my whole first playthrough is gonna have an inaccurate playtime counter. I assume I'm at about 40 but I dunno. Can't wait to build my new PC and play through the whole series.

Ahh ok. I do use rest mode on the Ps4 a lot for this game.

Hope they fix the total play time, though

And wow, the detailed statistic screen layout is so shitty. Looks as if an intern designed that.

Ok, so this is pretty weird.
I'm finishing multiple side quests and main quests (currently in Novigrad), and I'm not gaining any experience anymore. Is it possible that some quests do not give any rewards?

The romance scene with Triss was hilarious and awesome. Their hanky-panky was
lighting up the lighthouse sporadically, and the other mages thought it was a coded signal
! I laughed a bunch at that.

Steam says I've put 41 hours into it already. I've never felt bored, and except for one contract I've never felt like I needed to grind. And I haven't even gone to Skellige yet, so there's still bucketloads of content to do after this!

Slight problem, I do appear to have a couple of quests that I can't complete (due to Triss not being around, even though I romanced her) - is she in Skellige as well now?

I think it's in-game time, so when you meditate and wait x hours, it is adding up x hours to the counter.

I just meditated and I think I went back in time. Playtime sits a at 4 days, 4 hours and 33 minutes now...

Yeah, I'm not going to bother with this.

Yeah I did several quests in Novigrad today but they yielded very little exp or no exp at all. Been stuck at lv.14 for a while now which is pretty annoying.

Hm, can't remember when I moved to Cat sword, but better than Griffin sounds good enough.

The one other piece of advice I can give.... What time of night are you fighting her? Similar to noonwraiths, moonwraith's strength is tied to time. They are strongest at midnight, and weakest near dusk and dawn.

Otherwise, the main thing is don't leave the circle. Or let the trap fade. That's when she does that fly through you & take 25% or more of your health move.

Thanks for all the advice, guys. I am going to step away from it for a minute, craft the enhanced specter oil, and come back later. Hopefully that increase in power (+25% over just the base specter oil i've been using) and you guys' advice will yield success.

I've been trying to fight her right at midnight, haha. Damn. Maybe enhanced oil + 4:00am fight will change the game. I definitely just learned my lesson about the timing thing, though, and that is: READ THE EFFING BESTIARY. Just looked at her page in there and the last sentence says "Most important of all, however is this: Never attempt to fight one in the middle of the night, when the moon hangs high in the sky." Doh.

I'm bored of novigrad. Can't say the quests there are bad but i don't find the crime underworld interesting. It doesn't help that fps fluctuate a lot there.

Once i rescue
dandelion
i'll leave to skellige for good.
