Went to a barber who didn't look like the others. But
everytime I ask him for a hairstyle, I have a random one... Gerald tried to threaten but it didn't work.

Was that the drunk one?

Can you upgrade potions? I haven't had the chance to do anything like that yet and the standard Swallow one is rubbish.

Seriously, Feline armor at all levels is fucking awesome. Disappointed with the other two (not enough studs and spikes and shit).

Still, is it true you can get upgraded versions of the Kaer Mohren armor or what?

ok...after reading up on the three
Treasure Hunt
quests for White Orchard my question is it possible to actually complete all 3? I've read that completing one will disable another one. If I start all 3 before finishing them will that let me complete them all or no?

Was just running around in Velen and came across a camp where a random soldier gave me an update to
Lena
's condition. Love how fleshed out everything is eventually.

Boom! Bitch-slapped!
Is it better than Oxenfurt at least? I was really sad by how little there was to do there...

Novigrad is one of the main maps in the game, you will spend a lot more time there. If you like running through cluttered city streets going from quest to quest then you will like it. I suppose The rest of Velen spoiled me, traveling the countryside is amazing.

Well congratulations! You got yourself caught!
SO does a key actually exist for ANY of these locked prisoners in Velen? They keep telling me to search the area for a key to their cage after clearing out the bandit captors...but I think its just an elaborate ruse to test my sanity.

Maybe I'll just check the corpses one last time...

Or maybe the caged prisoners don't exist and this is just an illusion set on by the Wild Hunt to stall Geralt...

I keep seeing caged prisoners across the land, and yet no key!

There is no key...there is...no...

I'm going a bit nuts. Trying to upgrade my Griffin Gear, and I can't find anything that drops or disassembles into Monster Tissue.

Anyone know what I need to kill / get for that?

Go kill some wraiths

Possibly a bug. For me the key is always on a bandit/deserter. Usually the leader.

If you have other sorts of tissue, dismantle it at a smith

spectral essence seems to deconstruct into that

I'd give it another 3-4 hours depending on how many side quests you have. On main quest alone? Probably 2-3 hours depending on how fast you are.

Many, many thanks. Killing some wraiths did the trick.

Not after the first initial upgrade, that goes to griffin armour.

there's no 'canon' story. The game makes it explicitly clear there's(light spoilers)
a possibility to end up with Triss too that makes sense with the canon

So choose as you like
Triss' quest line is drawing me towards her but I haven't even done one for Yennefer. Plus I want to get the trophy which requires Triss at Kaer Mohern. I'll do another play through for Yennefer. Triss is waifu.

Holy shit, that Get Junior quest!
considering the things he did from what you see in his hideout, decided to kill him after having him talk. Ended up making a new save because I'm wary of what the consequences will be ._.

yeah. You basically must go in the game knowing which one you want to end up with which I assume is hard for many who weren't sure from the beginning. I've read the books and know the characters so going for Triss was a no brainer because even from reading them back then I preferred Triss.

Went to a question mark and it put a quest in my log. Within 30 seconds after that it said there was an update and then it failed. What the fuck :(

EDIT: I mean exclamation point.

Fall damage in this game is more annoying than a pack of drowners. I must have two dozen deaths just misjudging how far I can jump down.

I really want to read the books now. This world is fantastic. Just tell me: is
it possible to sleep with Yennefer one time after making Triss your love interest?
I want Geralt to have a memento of her LOL.

For the last 3 days I've been doing nothing but side quest and I've only leveled up twice. Am I doing something wrong?

nope. Side quests give little to no experience unless they're main plot related.

Witcher contracts give more. Near the beginning it's an issue to be under the main quest's level on normal, but you'll eventually reach it/surpass it.

Can someone in a non-spoilery way explain which ends up being the "best" choice in terms of how the story unfolds in terms of picking Yen or Triss as a romance?

I've seen people talk of sending Triss to Kaer Morhen, is the only way to do that to romance her?

Can you romance neither?

I killed him because he is a monster. And witchers kill monsters. But the way geralt justified it, i didn't like it. "I'll kill you for what you did to ciri.". He did what? Get his ass kicked?

I loaded my previous save and spared him. Only choice i felt i needed to change.

Yes if you want to keep Triss for end game you mean.

And if you really want to know when with a light non specific spoiler

remember it's when Yen's fixing her clothing
.

everything afterwards you're risking it. I can get more into details as to when you need to make the decision but you should figure it out as the game makes it obvious.

For those who finished the game, what difficulty and what level did you end up on?
And I guess maybe estimate how many quests and "?" stuff have you done would be helpful.

I wonder if difficulty changes XP gain.

Between the certain NPCs' opinions and Yennifer herself in later parts of the game, it really feels like the game keeps nudging me towards Triss instead of playing a neutral matchmaker. lol

I read that there is a skill that lets you charge your attacks and get through an enemy guard, what's that called, can't find it.

I didn't do EVERY side quest and basically ignored question marks after white orchard, played on normal and finished level 36-37 I believe. I did every witcher contract though.

Remember that Geralt isn't exactly super well liked by everybody either.

Does his best thinking in the flying car
So I think I asked this in OT1 right before it closed.

Is there a PONR I should be looking out for, in terms of the main quest? I've got a ways to go, I think, but I want to make sure I don't get locked in before I'm ready.

yeah,
His final words to Junior are kind of odd but at the same time it was justified in the larger scheme of things, that and he did say that his men wounded her. Geralt was appalled the moment he went up to the 2nd floor and saw the kind of monster Junior is, couldn't let him keep doing what he was doing.

Any suggestion on what to do with the Woodland Beast contract?

Do I side with the elf bandits, or do I kill them? Neither group seems all that worthy of helping, so I figure the best choice is the one with the best gameplay benefits

There is one that might end very particular plot side quests but the game makes it very very obvious.

The fighting in this game is starting to get frustrating because of the poor controls. It seems like I'm just sliding around everywhere and aiming is so fucking hard with this jerky ass movement. Meanwhile, enemies seem to hit when they're not even aiming at me. Haven't had an opportunity to get good weapons or really strengthen mine and already facing enemies that easily kill me. Then I have to start all at the beginning of an objective that should easily have had one save in between.

do what I do. Save constantly manually. Sure it's convenient but makes shit easier.

I'd be in the dick
you can get one of the special beards. Those never grow.

I just want Geralt to have a properly trimmed beard at all times and the DLC beards look dumb. The growth annoys me.

Is there a quest to open up the barber in Novigrad? I've never seen his store open. Have to travel to Oxenfort every time I want a shave.

Mid/late game Ciri spoiler
Would have been neat to play as Ciri in the Cyberpunk 2077 land as a teaser :p
Wasn't expecting that reference at all.

The soul patch and mustache looks great with the elven rebel hair. That's what I sported like 60% of the game.

As to the barber in Novingrad no. He's slightly to the top right of the map from the main square. Just walk around there and check your map the symbol should eventually appear. And make sure you go during realistically open hours.

I have. I regularly mediate to get it to a regular time and it's always locked when all the other merchants are open. The armorer in Oxenfort is the same way. I visited him once then he never opened again. Meanwhile the barber in Oxenfort is open 24/7.
