The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt |OT2| Wanted to find Ciri, but everything Gwent wrong

Man, some things are VERY bad done in Witcher 3, mostly because open world.
I was wandering around as usually cleaning "?" marks, while I triggered a cutscene with
an ice giant.
I followed his steps, and I entered a cave, while Geralt stated
Hjalmar was not here.
The fact is, I never met
Hjalmar
, I have not a mission related to him so Geralt basically can't know him, since in Skellige I did literally zero story mission, I just reached the location and cleared some "?" marks.

Also CDPR really dropped the ball here, pretty much 98% of "?" mark in Skellige are underwater chests with sirens waiting to kill you. If you add swimming is really bad in W3, this killed pretty much the whole fun I was having by fully exploring the map. The loot is garbage, so there are really no reasons to clear those marks.

Also...mountains, mountains everywhere. Yeah, it's very good looking and pretty much different from Velen/Novigrad, but man, navigating those is very boring. Even when you swim, you need to look for the exact place in which you can land on an island, otherwise you need to circle it until you spot a landing spot. And sometimes places that seems a good landing spots are not, since you can't "jump" on them with Geralt wandering like a dumb 1 meter from the ground.

Those '?' marks are a blight. Turn them off and be happier for it. Game feels a lot more immersive without obsessively trying to uncover everything that's on your map, trust me. I've been playing it like that since day 1.

I honestly don't understand why they're even in to begin with. I've seen plenty of people complain about them.

On an unrelated note, a story mission glitched out and removed my Superior Dimeritium bombs from my inventory. Gotta recraft them all over again. :'(

Man, I'm really struggling in Velen. No so much with the game (it's a masterpiece) but just with the sheer amount of choice!

I'm following the Bloody Baron questline and I'm heading to
Oxenfurt
to
find Tamara
and the sheer amount of question marks and Points of Interest on the way is mind-boggling! Are people trying to clear each up as they go, or just letting things happen organically? I feel like it's gonna take ten hours just getting there at this rate!

Also, opinions please, should I start after the Cat School Gear at this stage? I bought something off the Crow's Perch Armorer that's sending me to some massively northern part of the map, but the quest is showing as way over my current level. Any recommendations? I don't want to go all that way to get my arse handed to me.

Finished the game, now working on getting all them trophies.

Having a really hard time to get those 50 headshots with the crossbow. No idea who came up with this horrible trophy :(

Turn off PoIs.

Thank me later.

I know you can kill them, but when you have like 5 sirens swimming around you on Death March, it's really, really boring. Take down sirens or they'll kill you, loot the chest, surface and repeat. Really I'm feeling like I'm wasting my time here.

Definitely wasting your time and I did it on Death March too. I cleared about half the Smugglers points on the map before having to reload a 1 hour 40 minute old save due to accidently rolling my cash over 65k to 0 while looting them and not one of them gave anything but pure Vendor Fodder (went back to 58k). Really disappointing. I was hoping to at least get some recipes to finish out my Alchemy list, but nope - they seemingly don't load in those points ever.

Smugglers points should definitely be skipped and are a complete waste of time.

So I downloaded the two latest DLC but I can't find where to obtain the new armor or crossbows. Anyone know where they are?

Have you guys encountered an issue with shadows sometimes that they seem to draw right in front of you as you walk? It is mostly noticeable indoors. It certainly doesnt look normal since shadow lod is quite good even on consoles. But when this happens you see the shadows draw right next to you.

Anyone else?

Would appreciate if someone else has noticed this as well.

Can't disagree with that. My biggest gripe with Witcher 3 has to be the fact that Witcher gear are way stronger than any other type of gears including Relics, and these Witcher gear can be crafted with ease. Most importantly, they're upgradable, becoming stronger and stronger. I know some might suggest dropping the mix-max mentality and just go for fashion, but fuck that. I want to be the strongest Witcher I can be and yet looking different and interesting every once in awhile instead of being shoehorned into few specific appearances.

Give me transmogrification please.

I have noticed. I also took some screenshots and made a thread about it on the official forums:

Problem is it just currently seems to get ignored by the developers, whilst a lot of the other threads get responses :(

I completed Lord of Undvik last night, legit took me like 3 hours. Christ.

I love this game.

Hah I did that too yesterday. Probably took around 4 hours exploring the island. I visited the tower, got the smithing tools. It is amazing how much there is to see and explore. The Ice Giant was an awesome enemy too, although a bit easier than expected. Poor Vigi.

Cat Suit with Tactleneck is the height of Fashion making all other gear pointless anyways!

Αha thanks mate. So it is a general issue not console specific...

well lets hope that CDPR addresses it in due course.

I was playing on PS4 btw, so it definitely is an issue for all platforms by the looks of it.

Agree with this. I can't even remember the last time I wore a non-Witcher school piece of gear for more than a minute just to check them out. So much of the other stuff looks cool, put the Witcher stuff is so powerful that it's pointless to other things in battle.

And give me some damn storage so I can put sets I'm not using in there, shit is too heavy.

i have stopped caring about non-inland PoIs in Skellige. Not like you'll find a Place of Power underwater.

right? ... RIGHT?! :(

unlike me, you are doing it right, there is absolutely no reason to do a single skellige point of interest in the water unless you like torturing yourself

If you want to have more rewarding exploration without POIs, go to your map and mark places that look interesting. For instance, a road that leads to a circle of buildings on the edge of the map.

You'd be surprised how many new unmarked quests you can find by doing that, it happens a lot.

Tower of Mice questline question:

So it looks like I fucked up and released a plague maiden :/ Does this have far reaching implications? I knew the ghost was acting weird but I had no idea it could've been that bad. Should I go back a save or two and finish the quest a different way or roll with the punches?
Roll with the punches. That's a general rule of thumb for The Witcher games.

Is there a list of Gwent cards that are missable? Currently at
The Masquerade Ball with Triss
and not sure if I can come back later.

Yep, just gotta go "Well, that's unfortunate" and move on. Hell, you might end up with something even worse happening doing things another way. And in that particular quest's case:
The guy dies no matter which way you choose to Complete the quest.

here's a decent list of cards that are only obtainable during certain quests and from specific NPCs. (=missable ones)
and no, this tournament is exclusive to this quest, you should do it now.
same goes for the other tournament (the one in
the Pasiflora
) you need to WIN both, if you want to be able to get all Gwent cards.

Since they're not needed for quests, nor trophies and are incredibly tedious - also the rewards not being desirable since i'm going to be wearing crafted sets anyways, it was an easy decision for me to make :)

Guess I will just keep playing against this guy until I get lucky lol. He has been destroying me so far.

You are.

Turn off the PoIs and forget about them unless you naturally stumble upon one during exploration.

Is there anyway to disable Yennefer's DLC costume in PS4 version? I don't want to download all other DLCs and updates and I really hate that costume.

Okay so I jumped back in after playing Splatoon for a week and I'm completely getting shat on by this fucking Griffin. I guess I don't really know how to fight beyond light-heavy-roll shoot crossbows so I'm looking for some good general tips, or maybe some specific ones, I don't know.

In terms of fighting, what's going on? Can I trap this griffin in a stagger? My AI buddy doesn't seem to do shit so I can't really distract it that way. I can roll out of most attacks fairly easily but Geralt can't seem to close the distance fast enough to get more than one or two light stings in, even with the Thunderbolt active. Do I have invincibility frames? How should I be treating this?

Couple questions;

I'm doing the Brothers in Arms quests. Will any of these fuck up side quests or anything? I've probably done most of them for the people required, but I just want to make sure.

Also, in regards to Redania's Most Wanted -
For some reason I can't give the item to Yennifer, and I can't give statuette for another quest to her either. Will I still be able to give these to Triss hopefully sometime later?

Applesauce

Boom! Bitch-slapped!
If you're looking for enhanced and superior alchemy recipes there is a shopkeeper in Skellige by Gedyneith (hill top with a giant tree). He is in a little underground hut. There is also a master alchemist nearby, but I haven't visited him yet. But this particular shopkeeper has A LOT of enhanced and superior alchemy recipes for sale.

Also the fucking alchemy and crafting trees need to be collapsed by default, ffs.
