Anyone download the Coal Miners contract DLC and play it? Just want to know what you get when completing it to see if it's worth downloading it. Thanks.

Posted this in the performance thread, but I may as well post it here and see if anyone knows;

So I'm getting a weird "grid" looking effect in certain scenes and when LOD levels change as I walk towards certain things. I also just got a new GPU, so I'm concerned that it's a problem with that, but I saw it on my old GPU as well so I think it may be the game. This is what I mean (I'll link possibly spoiler-y pictures);

In the green force field

In the wall behind Geralt

In the light on the wall

Again, in the light

What is this? Is it the game or my GPU? Like I said, I saw it on my old 760, but I'm seeing it more on my new 970 after this last patch. It's only in certain scenes, but I'm seeing it more and more.

Edit: Okay, so apparently it's called "dithering". Is this caused by a fault in my GPU, or the game?

I noticed a few days ago before patch. Did some digging and found this. I ended up not doing it so I cant say how well it works. Read the follow up responses since there sounds like there are trade offs.

So, this may be kind of vague, but I was just attacked by a female elf in that small village outside Novigrad. I have no idea who she was, but some of what I heard her say before she died made me think I'd wronged her at some point. Looted a decent steel sword and a squirrel tail off of her. Wouldn't normally have killed her so fast, but she caught me by surprise. Flame, stab... Wait, who was that? Lol

Does anyone have any idea who she was? It's bugging me for some reason.

in regards to the Hazardous Goods sidequest
how long do you have to wait to be able to find Gert when he has the black pox? I am at the location, been meditating for dayssss and he isnt showing up

Oh wow, did they rework the runes in the new patch? Used to be just greaters and lessers, now I see blacksmiths only selling regular/medium runes which I've never seen before

Is it normal to not have "Now or never" quest not pop up right away after completing the previous Triss mission?

I got this at launch, barely played it since I got really busy.

I want to give this game a bit of time, will I be able to come back to quests I skipped near the beginning? I want to just dig into the game for now, minimal quests.

I've had the same thing before the patch, so I don't think its that. If you didn't have it before, check your settings, maybe something got changed.

Is it just me or does the Depth of Field effect seem much more aggressive? I actually turned it off because it was making things so fuzzy. I put over 55 hours into the game with it on the whole time, no issues for my eyes. Now, it's very distracting,

Anyone else notice the shooting stars ?

Getting this annoying glitch on PS4 since the patch. At night when holding a torch, theres some kind of blur effect thats glitching out the flame on the torch when i pan the camera left of right. Looks really weird.

Yeah, it was a pleasant surprise.

I've got a lot to play and I think I'm going to push forward with the main questing now. I'm not necessarily burnt out on side questing(42 hours in, only just got to Novigrad), but I'd like to leave shit to do for another playthrough. My next GPU will probably be able to handle this game at 4k/60fps, so that should be a pretty amazing way to come back to it, along with enough never-seen content(and the DLC) to keep it fresh.

Hey guys I've just gotten to kaer morhen for the second time but I've still barely touched the side quests in skellige and there are quite a few grey ones.

Should I do these few quests in kaer morhen now or should I go off and do the quests on skellige first and then come back? I can still get to skellige after this part right? I'm not getting close to the end am I?

I'm
basically trying to remove the curse from uma.

Oh man :( I just
killed Keira
.

I really liked her and fucked her after we had dinner in the woods but then she put me to sleep so she could steal those notes! She used me and I was pissed at her. Called her a snake then demanded the notes. I had to kill her.

I know you had the option to
kill her
but didn't expect it to happen so soon. I'm definitely gonna have to replay it and see what happens if I had chosen a different way.

Welp I finally finished. 95 hours, all contracts, nearly all side content, focused on the light armor upgrades only, went for Team Triss
(though surprisingly I didn't end up with her in the end, can't complain, I still prefer Yen but I fucked up)
, manage to hit Level 35 without any grinding (success!) and manage to get all trophies except for Death March Difficulty and all the Gwent related ones. Speaking of Gwent I have not played a single game of it yet and I'm already listening that there's a trophy for collecting all 199 cards in the game and some are missable -_- anyways, I'll definetly aim for a Platinum but I gotta take a break cause I am burned out from playing this game for nearly 3 weeks straight.

I'll give it a 10/10, most likely my GOTY, though Bloodborne is still my favorite game this year.

There will be a bunch of quests that will end very soon but it's pretty easy to grasp which ones they are +you'll get warned by the game when that is about to happen.

Bah new patch and a new batch of issues. Can't continually combine mutagens anymore thanks to these changes so now I've got a million blue green and red mutagens that it won't let me combine into greater mutagens.

There will be a bunch of quest that will end very soon but it's pretty easy to grasp which ones they are +you'll get warned by the game when that is about to happen.

Thanks. I assume there is no penalty to leave kaer morhen and go quest for a bit and then come back?

72 hours and coming up on the late act 2 quest (title spoiler only)
Isle of Mists
. This game! It keeps giving and giving and giving.

I have all the materials gathered for my superior griffon armor as soon as I hit 23. Oh holy shit! I can't wait.

I'm going to be so sad when this is over, I'll never be able to play it for the first time again, you know? Guess I'll have to bump it up to death march and replay while waiting for MGSV. Blood and broken bones has been fun, and it is hilarious to be able to make people literally explode with those fancy grapeshot bombs.

Now, gonna go respec because I'm not making people explode efficiently enough.

Does the game make romance decisions obvious?

I kissed Triss at the party, and haven't even gone to Skellige yet. I read that you get a bad ending for pursuing both women, and I'm not sure what to do :\

Haha, decided to farm a few cow hides to make up the cost of having a few items repaired and came across CDPR's "fix". That was a bit of a shock. ;)

I haven't even gone to Skellige yet, have tons of side-quests left in Novigrad and I already have 20,000 crowns, lol. The game just throws money at you after a while. Never done any money exploit.

Why is it so hard to find a blacksmith?

Is there only one in Novigrad? He isn't showing up right now
Novigrad is really annoying because the markers for a lot of merchants don't show up until you are near them. The blacksmith is in the fish market next to the main square

Same here. I've been hovering around 15.000 ever since I first left for Skellige.

There's also a master-level blacksmith in the city, once you complete a few missions for him. He's more reliable to show up than the guy at the fishmarket, who most of the time just isn't there for me.

Which should I use?

Griffin Enhanced Steel Sword with
155ish attack
+10% sign intensity
+5% experience from humans and nonhumans
+Two free slots

Or

Other random Steel sword with
143ish attack
+75% critical damage
+20 armour piercing
+One free slot

What dya reckon dudes and dudettes?
second is way way better for an light armor/crit build

There are three words that women care for
I love you
. The game is realistic in that :p.

So take care to who say them.

Yeah, I've read quite a few times now that once you progress further in the game, money becomes a non-issue even if you're playing as intended. Since beating the chort is literally impossible for little ol' me at the moment, I think I'll just accept the fact that I'll be relatively low on cash for a while. ;)

A man can't work 24-hours a day, can he? Meditate for an hour or two and he'll be there. I've not only started to memorize where every vendor is, I've been starting to memorize their working hours too, lol. But yeah, if a vendor isn't there, meditating always work.

I'm running into so many bugs with the sound in the game. Combat sounds not playing, lip sync being off by several seconds, it's really bothering me :(

I'm currently sitting at ~98 hours of playtime and I've just started the quest "Isle of Mists". How far am I story-wise(%)? I'm going to finish some Contracts and side-missions before advancing further in the story.

I'm one of those players who always meditates during the nights, so I only ever visit him during the days. :p Usually meditating fixes it, yeah, but I've had instances where he just refuses to show up altogether.

Guys, talk to me about Gwent. Is it just in the game for the sake of playing it, or can you get rewards that help you out in the game overall?

I'm not really sure I'm bothered with it if all you do is collect more cards. I know you can wager money too, which I seem to be very short of.

Basically - if I don't really enjoy playing it, is it worth it?

new to the witcher series. i'm having a hard time getting money. like a piece of cheese costs 42 from the first merchant, goddamn. i'm doing quests but you get like 20 here 20 there... not a lot. merchants don't seem to pay a lot for items either. I sold a huge stack of axes and barely got anything.

even maintaining your armor costs quite a bit of money

wondering if anyone has any tips

what is the fastest/cheapest way to get your first saddlebags? a merchant was selling them for 182 but i saw on a wiki that the price is supposed to be 100... either they patched that or the vendor was overcharging for some reason
