The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt |OT2| Wanted to find Ciri, but everything Gwent wrong

I have. I regularly mediate to get it to a regular time and it's always locked when all the other merchants are open. The armorer in Oxenfort is the same way. I visited him once then he never opened again. Meanwhile the barber in Oxenfort is open 24/7.

There was a barber in Skellige that disappeared after I completed a mission nearby. Instead there was just a woman crying in his house. I don't know if it was a bug, but it was kinda emotional for me either way since I had used the dude 3-4 times.

The respec potion being one of the items that gets automatically cycled in as food is really stupid. Because yes, the one thing I want in a tough battle is to remove all of my abilities instead of healing >_>

HAH really? Why would they allow you to hotkey the respec potion at all.. ?

Tell me about it. I went out of my way to only be disappointed. I liked her accent.

So is Gwent really that strategic/in-depth?

It has surprising depth to it, and it's definitely something CDPR could build on if they choose to do so.

People seem to want a standalone game like Hearthstone

As it is right now, Hearthstone has way more depth from what I've played of Gwent, but Gwent is definitely extremely fun, strategic, and different. I'm not sure if there should be a stand-alone game apart from Witcher 3, but I feel like it would be a no-brainer for CDPR to make a multiplayer patch or maybe a Gwent specific DLC/expansion of sorts that would allow players to play Gwent against each other with their own decks (they could even include betting coin or even betting Gwent cards).

I love how
Lambert
makes fun of Geralt trying to sound like a badass in the "Killing Monsters" CG trailer right after Geralt tried to do the same to him.

I swear I keep on picking the style that is a full beard but not grown in and the beard keeps on growing back. I hate it.

Beard keeps growing if you pick Clean Shave or full short beard. Which sucks because I like both those and don't want ol' bushy beard so I have to go to the barber every few quests.

Hm, that's strange...Novigrad barber's always open for me...

That questline continues throughout the game. Hit a point in the main story and the another side quest will appear pertaining to that.

In that case, just a yes or no answer
will it break if I go through with Dijkstra's plan to assassinate Radovid? Been holding off on that since I'm not sure about the consequences.

The Witcher 3 wolves must have had a conversation with the Far Cry 4 eagles about how to be very annoying (though Igni is my friend when they show up)

The Whispering Hillock. Black Beauty.

Can't help but feel like that's going to come back and bite me on the arse later on.

Early Witcher 3 spoiler in No Man's Land regarding the Family Matters quest:

When I was playing as Ciri in the first flashback, I thought the packs of wolves were much harder than the "Wolf King."

Also, I've done barely anything at all outside of just beginning the game and doing a couple side quests and exploring a bit and this game has become one of those games that get stuck in my head and makes me go "ok, just a little bit more playing". I can only imagine how I'll be once I actually get fully into everything.

And curiously, I also found a mysterious note referencing
Cthulhu.
Interesting.
I need to get to Skellige. It looks awesome. That armor looks sweet too.

nope. Side quests give little to no experience unless they're main plot related.

Witcher contracts give more. Near the beginning it's an issue to be under the main quest's level on normal, but you'll eventually reach it/surpass it.

Guess I'll just avoid all quest that aren't contracts then. Gonna continue the main quest.

Spoiler tag that.

Please.

Not sure how that could be considered spoiling anything but whatever.

After a good 10 hours or so Geralt's beard has finally grown. Had a weird thing happen though, I turned on Hairworks, saw the frame rate dip, turned it back off and the beard was fully grown.

Yes. For instance, I want to lose the first round while keeping as many of my cards as possible in order to gain a numbers advantage for the next 2 rounds.

I can do this several ways. If I have a decoy, I can send out a powerful card, wait for the opponent to attempt to play one of their high value cards to counter, and they play the decoy card to recall my high value card from play. I've just had my opponent waste one of their cards. If they have no way of bringing that card back, that card is out f play for the rest of the game.

Another example might be to play a spy card in the first round. The spy card adds points/power to your opponent, but allows you to instantly draw 2 more cards. So keeping in mind you draw 10 cards at the start of the game and play 3 rounds with those 10 cards, being able to draw more cards is something you really want. Sometimes you can combine decoys and spies to draw cards multiple times. Say for instance your opponent plays a spy card. You can use a decoy card to withdraw the spy card into your own deck, and then play it yourself and also draw 2 cards.

Another example is medic cards. keep in mind that all cards played in a round are discarded at the end of that round. When medics are played, they allow you to replay a discarded card. So you can play a high value card that you had intended to use later, safe in the knowledge that you can easily bring it back when you play your medic card in the next round. Again, this can be used as a combo with spies like the decoy card.

There's a lot more depth to it, but these are some of the strategies I use in my early rounds to keep my big hitters in reserve for the later rounds.

Tired of my Geralt looking like a clown. Hate how all the armor is miscolored. Really wish there was dye.

If you want the best looking armor you gotta make it yourself. Bear school armor ftw. Once you reach third area you can find all the pieces. If you haven't been collecting materials though... lol

Guess I'll just avoid all quest that aren't contracts then. Gonna continue the main quest.

I wouldn't recommend this entirely either as some side quests can be plot/universe important or can give decent exp. Just do the ones that sound interesting.

You can get out (I got stuck there) Keep trying to jump up to the hole facing left of where you are in that shot. It takes a bit but you can get out.

I ended up reloading which is a shame because I just picked up a sweet sword just outside of this ship and when I went back to get it again it wasn't as powerful. Turns out loot stats are random.

Had my first broken quest :( I thought CDPR was above all this.

Witcher Contract Apiarian Phantom.

I got the key to the cellar and when I used it the door unlocks but the quest doesn't progress and ask me to unlock the door again but the key is gone. No event happens in the basement.

Is there any stashes or anything in this game? I have so many books and documents and general crafting stuff and some old witcher gear that I'm always 2/3 full. This better not be DA:I... :|

Any "rare" materials needed for the bear gear? Don't think I'll go bear since it's heavy, but it's always good to know.

One of the first treasure hunts, dirty funds(?), bugged on me. Stuck at the "Read notes" part and no matter how many times I read through every document I got.. nothing.

Hunt for the Witcher school gear. It is the best looking/best armor in the game.

Griffin school's gauntlets look horrible, sadly, and the trousers are not as good as my assassin's trousers. :(
(Though I look like a damn fool with bright blue trousers on lmfao)

I had an awesome game where this happened. Used two of my own Spy cards, then the opponent used one against me so I took it with a Decoy and used it right back on him. Set me up for an easy win in the third round, which I promptly choked on by misusing a Scorch card and completely boning myself. Pro-tip: a Scorch card kills the most powerful card on the table, but it does it after factoring in any boosts. So, for example, even if your opponent has a Lv 10 Hero Card on the board, the Scorch card is still doing to destroy your Lv 6 Ranged Combat that you've turned into a 12 with a Commander's Horn. Live and learn, I suppose :p

I'm shocked by how quickly this thread can move.

Pro tip: if you want someone to spoiler something, you should also spoiler it yourself. Quotes don't update by themselves.
Yeah, noted.

I've seen people who are very sensitive to names here. Better to be safe than sorry.

Anyone have a problem in the Fall of House Reardon secondary quest?
I read that Letho was suppose to appear in that mission, but he didn't for me, and I spared him in TW2.

the 'rare' materials are for the two later versions of the armor where you need to have ingots that aren't exactly easy to come by unless you're doing a bunch of the question marks. But if you have the schematics you can make it with another material. Also some alchemy materials you can only get the schematics from a particular sidequest in the third major area

I think hero cards are immune to scorch. They're certainly immune to everything else. Don't get buffed bu commanders horn, can't be decoyed or healed back into play by a medic.

With scorch cards you also have to keep in mind that it'll look for the highest value card on the board and kill all cards with that value...including your own.
