The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt |OT2| Wanted to find Ciri, but everything Gwent wrong

can someone tell me how to use puppet correctly? Half the time they just stand there. It's equipped and I'm holding down the right trigger.

As far as them attacking other mobs, I found it to be inconsistent too. I only used it that way to get the cheevo and often had to run mobs passed them to get their attention.

They're terrible. Especially when you get a hand with multiple monsters from the same set so you swap them and end up with cards from another set that you already had in your hand.

The payoff isn't even that great.

Yeah, the better my Northern Deck has gotten, the less I've feared Monster Decks. With spies and decoys it's way too easy to bait monsters into going "all in", and drain them of cards for an easy 2-3 win. Or if I pull Villentretenmerth and a decoy card, I laugh as I decimate their front row TWICE. And then do it a third time with a medic on the next hand.

Also does anyone know if you get a card from beating
Priscilla before the ambush
? I beat her, and the gwent option had an orange card next to it, but I don't recall ever seeing a popup saying I'd won a card, and can't find anything I didn't already have.

I would like to see remasters of Wicther 1 and 2 on PS4. maybe with wicther 3's combat system. I heard its pretty bad in the 1st couple of games.

But I would really like to see more of this world.
I'd personally be more excited for an Enhanced Edition of Witcher 3. Gotta have that Dark Mode.

Not really digging the Skellige quests. I feel like they're lacking compared to Velen. Anyone else?

The main quests and the secondary quests related to it are good, but yeah in comparison the rest are a bit lacking. It wouldn't surprise me if it was done in a later stage of the design, where the devs had already exhausted most of their ideas in the previous areas.

Agreed. Skellige has amazing scenery. But Velen's main & side quests are top notch.
Ya, I was so pumped once I saw the mountanous terrain and breathtaking vistas. But the quests are a big letdown so far. :(

I've been mostly doing the side-quests and just finished the bears at the feast election sabotage, ending was uber-anticlimatic. The Werewolf Bandit side quest was OK, but also anti-climatic. I've just finished the main quest where you use the mask with Yennifer. I personally can't stand Yennifer and would much rather Triss.

Hopefully it gets better!

Anyone got any tips for beating
Finneas
after he starts a fist fight with you in the
high stakes gwent tournament
? I keep dying, and there's no magic allowed.

EDIT: the key seems to be to hold block and then when he creates an opening after a heavy attack, do some damage then.

Any reason to save trophies? Or should I just sell them if a better upgrade comes along?
I realized kind of late how unnecessary it was to save trophies. Just keep the ones that have the bonuses and appearance you like.

Griffin trophy looks the best, in my opinion, for the dismemberment bonus.

Met my first Warewolf in Velen. How do you beat these regenerators guys?
Those silver dust bombs, and Igni impedes their regeneration.

I'd wait it out, you'll almost certainly end up outleveling a few contracts and even if you don't, there's a couple where you're not fighting monsters so to speak.

And those ones count towards it too? I'll take that advice the since I'm probably not powerful enough to manage it. Might try it once to see how I can do.

No, it is at the bottom.
Rage management, Focus, and the next skill next to it, can't remember the name.
Rage management allows you to use signs by using adrenaline points.
Focus allows you to get adrenline point by using signs.
And the other talent allows you to hit harder with more adrenaline points.
You can already see the positive loop...casting a sign give you adrenaline points and you can use that to cast more sign, and repeat to be stupidly broken.

Yes I can definitely see it and will get those to try out. Thanks for pointing this out!

game crashes on me every time I exit after saving on a long playthrough and the save always gets corrupted.

That's weird. Are you quitting before it's finished saving or something? If you save in two separate slots before quitting, do they both get corrupted?

If it happens to every save after that session, I'd assume it must be a bug. If it happens only to your save immediately before quitting, perhaps it's on your end.

Its just the most recent save and I'll load using the autosave or a slightly older save when it happens. I don't know if it has something to do with my steam having a lot of freezing issues lately. It only happens after like a 4 hour+ play session

Two questions.
For that trophy about taking on two contracts with only sword and crossbow, what are good ones to do for that? I'm about to take on the Griffin in White Orchard so would that be a good one to tackle?

I just did this late in game with my last couple contracts. At this point you destroy everything easily without potions and oils anyway.

edit: signs are also off limits for this achievement right? so buy a potion of clearance and put skills in swords.

Yeah, if it's happening to only your most recent save that really makes it sound like something is cutting off the saving process before it finishes. Saving doesn't take very long, so you'd need to quit within seconds of initiating a save from what I've seen, but it's still theoretically possible.

There is a save icon in the corner, a floppy, I think, so try not to quit while it's there.

Are there any merchants you can sell crossbow bolts to? Got like 10+ pounds worth of weight in them I'd be more than happy to get rid of, but if I can profit from them instead of just dropping them off in the wilderness somewhere, that'd be nice.

Which monsters drop monster hair? Just missing one for the final piece of my superior feline set.
Think Drowners drop 'em. You can also get plenty of Locks of Lamia Hair from the Sirens 'n such you fight in Skellige, which you can dismantle into Monster Hair, if I remember correctly.

vaguely remember a bottle vendor on the north end of the docks that buys them.

Given how fast you can level and what others have said, I was getting that impression.

Yeah, they are. Ah, that's a good idea. I was thinking I'd get one of those to perhaps experiment with other builds once I get farther in and leveled up enough.

No idea, but there's a lot of monster parts that can be disassembled into more basic monster parts. It's worth checking out if you just need one or two more crafting ingredients.

One of the flying type enemies in Skellige, either ekhidnas or harpies should drop plenty of monster hair. Water hags should drop some as well

Ekhidnas or Sirens I believe. You have to craft them down to monster hair though.

I got one from dismantling a werewolf hide. Also an armorer may have them for sale.

Thanks! I happened to have some Locks of Lamia hair from the flying enemies and I was able to dismantle them into monster hairs.

That whole quest was so disappointing. The buildup and especially the aftermath.

Yeah I killed him too. I was still a bit bitter that he didn't want to help out at Kaer Morhen so it wasn't a hard choice for me

I like the Archgriffin trophy. It has 10% dismemberment. I think Earth Elemental and Leshen ones do too.

Question: I'm in Skellige, right after
people go on quests to try to get crowned. I helped save Hjalmar An Craite and killed the ice giant with him. But I still haven't helped Cerys. Does the order of doing these quests determine who is crowned?

No.
But there is a later mission where you can choose to help one or the other does.

I believe the guy at the herbalist hut (northeast of Oxenfurt) gives the most for them. I am going to keep them (hope they don't disappear on the ground) so I can use whichever one I think looks good on the horse. So far wyvern and griffon trophies look best, but I hate the clipping on the griffon one.
