Is this game safe to play yet? I was waiting for the bugs to be all under control before starting.

Well, millions of us have been enjoying it since launch. Don't let the few reports of bugs dissuade you. I've played 70 hours and encountered nothing more than one single crash and a couple of NPCs clipping through walls or whatever.

Final Preperations Question

Is there any more side quests at this point? I dont want the game to finish and only have witcher contracts remaining after going to the Isle of Mists

Does anyone know where I can find or buy Cave Troll Liver? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I've run through Bloodborne twice and am looking for a new game to buy. I'm considering Witcher 3 but the price scares me a bit since I've never played a game in the series. Should I just take the plunge and get it for $60 tomorrow or wait for a price drop?

I have no answer but this reminds me... My final two concoctions are troll and succubus. Do I really need to kill one of the cutscene-based variants of these creatures to get their mutagens? I really didn't want to. I've liked all of the trolls/succubi I've spoken to so far. Can I just get a non-named, non-talking one I can kill and nab mutagens off of or will I never brew these unless I'm some coldblooded troll murdering savage? Trollses just want wham rockses, mans no kill. :(

If you're concerned about content, don't be. It's quite a long game. And they're in the process of putting out tons of free DLC, with more ($DLC) story content on the way beginning in October. You'll get your money's worth, no question. The combat may take a bit of getting used to if you're new to the series, as it requires you to riposte and parry. You won't get too far against human enemies if you just hack away at the attack buttons.

Is the combat kind of like Bloodborne? I've been watching a ton of video reviews but can't quite get a grasp on how it works.

I suggest so. I just completed it and this game is amazing. The amount of content is just staggering, it's all so fun. I loved Bloodborne, but this has surpassed it as game of the year easily. One of the greatest rpg of all time imo (played it on PC).

South-Western coast of Ard Skellig, there's a cave with a couple of them in there.

Thanks. Haven't gone to Skellige yet as im still in Novigrad/Velen and need one of those in order to craft an oil for a side quest im currently doing.

Is that the only place to get them? Thanks.

Not really, but if you do buy it, play it on 'Blood and Broken Bones' or 'Death March'. It's a lot more fun and tactical, otherwise it can feel a bit button spamming like.

Having the witcher armor sets don't actually take up that much space. Some armor sets can be 20 pounds plus.

Huh -- I must have just a tonne of alchemy items / trophies / qlyphs and other nonsense as without any excess armor / weaponry my Inventory is at 90/160 weight. I should probably purge some of this... but I never know when some of it is going to come in handy.

Oh, and best place/mob to farm for Dwarven Spirit / Alcohest? Or is there a relatively cheap way to buy it? I'm sitting on around 60+ reserve stock, but It's like Bloodborne, I could always top me up some more.

Sort of, but I'd say Witcher 3 is a bit more technical (though probably more forgiving than Bloodborne). You have to time your blocking with incoming enemy attacks so that you can parry and riposte. There's also magic to consider, which are mostly made up of support spells that will put up a protection barrier, fire a telekinetic burst, or a wall of flame. Certain signs are more effective against certain enemy types.

You hit the square button lol

No but really, you can just straight up use light or heavy sword attacks with parry's. Or you can use a combo of sword attacks mixed with you Signs, which is how I play and I recommend. There are oils and potions to buff you and such as well.

Pretty basic combat system in my opinion.

the quest The Last Wish seems to be bugged. Yennifer is in the boat telling me to get on, but nothing happens. I get on, off, press X on the prompt: the game does not budge. Has this happened to anyone else ?

What system? Didn't happen to me on PS4, she started sailing right after I sat down.

Novigrad is so boring. Took me about 30hours to get here and the last 5 hours or so feels like the game has just grinded to a total hault. Ive become a message boy rather than a monster hunter. You can't even kill a bunch of stuff as you travel from A to B, as there's very little going on in the city outside of the occasional hostile mob.
Need to get out of here, i'm a country mouse.

Are you using the forward seat of the boat? Or just jumping to the boat?

Are you trying to sit next to her? Because you're supposed to sit across from her on the other end of the boat.

Feels awesome preparing for a witcher contract battle with a monster/beast of much higher level and winning.

Went back to the the Missing Brother contract you get very early at the Inn at the Crossroads. Was level 20 and defeated the
Harisi
rather easily tbh despite the suggested level being 33 AFAIR.

I still find the suggested levels unreliable. Some a couple of levels above wreck me whereas 5+ drop easy.

This. I had the same issue. Reloaded my game several times before I looked online and found out what I was doing wrong. They could have been a little less vague about that one.

It's more comparable too the Batman Arkham games and other games with similar combat like Sleeping Dogs and Shadow of Mordor, or even Assassins Creed is comparable.

Although I'd argue that Batman, Shadow of Mordor and Sleeping Dogs play a bit tighter than The Witcher 3, TW3 is a touch more tactical, with having to specifically having to approach enemies in varied and unique ways and use your Signs (magic abilities) to your best use against an enemies weakness. Counter moves are rarely an "I win" button and there is 2 sets of skill paths that relate to both Magic/Sign combat and Sword/Melee Combat. Signs have many alt forms, too (EG: You can use the Igni sign as directional wave of sparks/fire that drains your stamina bar in one go into a targeted lock-on directed stream of fire/sparks that gradually ticks down the meter) -- so there is a bit of customization in how you build Geralt in regards to combat.

Just don't expect combat as good as Bloodborne, and give the game some time. It took quite a while for it to grow on me compared to BB, but once it did, it had me for the next 60 hours -- and that's just till now, I'm still not close to done.

Thank you everyone for taking the time to answer my questions, this is a very helpful community! I'm going to buy The Witcher 3 tomorrow and will be active in this thread :)

I felt a bit like that after hours in Novigrad. Get to Skellige, totally fell in love with the game all over again when I went. Such a beautiful place!

I didn't dislike Novigrad. Out of all of them, I think Velen was my least favorite. Just a whole lot of trees and nothing. But Skellige was definitely my favorite. Very Scandinavian atmosphere.

I finished it today and I already envy you. If only I could just delete it from my head and play it again for the first time.. :)

The tutorial is very nicely done by the way.

How the heck do I get to this point of interest: (Oh, it's located at the center of a triangle formed between the Olena's Grove, Ancient Oak and Destroyed Bastion signposts in SE Velen

It seems to be next to/under/around a giant tree that I can't get to because of the steep terrain.

I killed a high level basilisk that was flying around the area and looked everywhere but couldn't get up to the tree or find the point of interest. There seems to be a road clearly marked on the map that should go right to it, and I can find the start of the road but after a little bit the road disappears. Help!

I reached in a story mission. It might not be possible before that.

later during main quest;)

Has anyone else had the Crows Perch Race dissapear around the last story mission? I decided to roll back my save before the point of no return so i could finish everything up for the Platinum. It seems the quest dissapeared somewhere in act 3, and the earliest save I have with it still available is the Battle at
Kaer Mohren
. It's not in my completed quests, nor is it in the failed quests section

I am level 19, doing the level 15 quest The Last Wish. I am fighting the Djinn at the end and he is wrecking me. Is there some trick I am missing ?

for those that finished the game, how much close to done am I?
I thought I was at the end when I brought Ciri back to Kaer Morhen and I got everyone to help me defend her, but obviously it's not the end as what happens afterwards happens.....

It's kinda crazy cause I literally was sad and was like "Whelp, gonna just enjoy this end" and then, the game is like, "Nope, not over yet bro"

Why do people keep saying the combat is like Batman? It's hardly similar at all.

Because the combat animations transition from move to move seamlessly. I think that is where the similarities end. From what I've noticed each attack takes the same amount of time regardless of the animation, whereas in Batman, different attacks take different amounts of time. This makes it so you have a lot more control over whether you get hit or not in The Witcher. Combat-wise, it feels more like a Souls game to me.
