I play most modern games on my PC with the Xbox360 gamepad and in most cases the controls and handling is fine, but I just can't play W3 with it - M+K is way, way more better for me personally and it controls really good - handling of Roach is perfectly fine just like the swimming controls & combat and menus are great.. some problems are only when Geralt is in a building but other than that, I'm glad how the M+K controls are in this game

Well... CD Projekt was mostly a PC developper in the past right? So it doesn't surprise me that this game was optimized for mouse & keyboard. Maybe they'll fix it later for controllers, who knows.

Holy fucking shit, if you thought Yennefer was kinda unlikeable in the game, in the books she is downright insufferable. The quicker I can get Geralt away from her the better off he is.

She is a real asshole.

Don't believe everything you read.

But yeah, Triss all day err day. I wonder if people who played Witcher 2 are more likely to side with Triss and newer folk are more likely to side with Yen.

Hahaha, I just started the books, read the Last Wish and Sword of Destiny and I was settled on Yen for Witcher 3 previously but she's so awful in the books I had a hard time not going Triss.

I sided with Triss but felt more for Yen towards the end where I almost regretted
saying things were different between Yen and I in the side quest

Just finished Reasons of State and (major Act 3 spoilers)
bloody hell, did they outsource the writing to Bioware or Bethesda for that one? Loved it up to the point where Radovid got his comeuppance, but then? Dijkstra suddenly turning into a raving Bond villain and starting to do very, very stupid things (like charing at a witcher with a battleaxe) is the kind of illogical plot and character development I've grown to expect from other developers, but certainly not from CDProjekt Red. Kind of weird, considering that writing and plot development have been top notch so far.

I shelved this game since release and started up again last night and man was it hard to put down. I have so many points of interest on my map that I need to get too just because those ? marks call me. What sort of things will I find there? Quests? Monsters? Just something gorgeous to look at? Can I leave work now to go home and play?

I'm at work now, too, thinking about all that exploring that needs to be done - the struggle is real, brother.

I agree with you.
I also disliked what they did with Radovid but that was more the whole game rather than just Reasons of State.

Dijkstra went a dumb 180, he stopped being the person who prefers stability and would rather just stand firm and take it on the chin than start gang war with Whoreson Jr.

But then after all that talk about King Vizimir and him working so hard to make Redania thrive through subtler methods, he just fucking takes Radovid's seat and tries to fight against Nilfgaard. Un-fucking-believable.

I ended up starting a new game on Death March last night, couldn't stay away. :x

Getting a much better start with Gwent, now that I know how to make better use of decoys and spy cards. Took more than a lil' luck at first, but now I can comfortably handle monster decks, even with a relatively weak deck.

I'm going to try doing a better job of managing main and secondary quests, so I can get as much XP as I can out of 'em. Try to avoid holding off on secondary quests and witcher contracts things until they're grayed out.

I loved that scene in Kaer Morhen where
the trio witcher having a drink party lol.
CDPR can really bring out the character of everyone. And that
cross-dress party at the end
, I can't stop laughing lol.

So is the Wolf gear the best in the game?

Wolf gear is the Raven armor in Witcher 2.
Badass, but kinda boring for me who have replayed Witcher 2 several times.

I'm in the beginning of another playthrough, and I came across a bandit wearing "Alder Folk boots" which have pretty cool stats and a really unique design.

Is the rest of the armor set available somewhere ?

love the game. But it sure it buggy.

For instance sometimes I can't find yellow markers for quests unless I'm actually in the area they are in, or sometimes not even then, until I got out and then search again - then it shows up in the area I was last in.

In terms of where it stands in the armor hierarchy? Or how it looks? 'cause there's only a vague resemblance between 'em, really.

Fun fact: the incantation that Fritjof uses during Practicum In Advanced Alchemy is actually super bastardised Swedish.

Anyone on EU PS4 got the triss alt outfit? The wolf school gear is up just not the triss costume.

Did they say they aren't putting it up because of the way it looks or something?

Man, I was so close in choosing Triss. Picking Yen in
The Last Wish
was a good moment for me in the game.

i went through like 3/4 of the game before realizing you could loot monster's nests, and that was only because there was a quest item in one of them lol.

so much loot just left lying there ;_;

Wait, what??

What Kind of loot have I been missing in 1.5 playthroughs?

It's equivalent to the big loot chest at treasure sites, maybe with a bit less awesome stuff overall. They're really sort of tricky because it's easy to miss the loot prompt; I don't even think they shimmer like other loot. (I also had a situation where they were unlootable, but it only happened at one site so I'm assuming it was a bug.)

Far as I'm aware, Monster nest icons on your map will be greyed out when you've looted everything, so the ones you missed will still be solid white. This colour-coding applies to all adventure sites on the map.

No, you get a bunch of monster parts and some mutagens.

It's a good source for rare monster materials, though. It's how I collected my 4 nekker hearts, because nekker warriors sure didn't drop any.

Mine grey upon destroying the nest. I agree, if they stayed white it would encourage discovery.

On looting, finding items you can't reach is disappointing. An example of this I captured earlier in the playthrough. Tried every which way to access it ( ・᷄ ︵・᷅ )

Probably just some Dwarven Spirit.

Yep. It's actually kind of weird that the major political decisions in this game
are fairly un-witchery (i.e. pretty straightforward instead of ambiguous and grey):

- Radovid has gone down the Hitler route with his witch hunts, so supporting him is out of the question. I was a bit disappointed as well that they've turned Radovid into a one dimensional mad king. Judging from his appearances in the predecessors, I thought that there was a lot more potential to him than that.

- Dijkstra would have been an interesting choice as a kind of "enlightened, post-imperial / post-monarchic behind the scenes ruler". I liked what he had to say at the docks after rescuing the mages, for instance, but then they turn him into a raving idiot as well. Furthermore, linking this decision to having to leave Roche, Ves and Thaler to die is absurd and makes it a total no-brainer. Roche is the guy that saves your life several times over the course of two games. Abandoning him at this point shouldn't even be an option for Geralt.

- Which leaves Nilfgaard/Emhyr and I think that they are portrayed too farovably in this game. Emhyr appears reasonable simply because he's the only major power player that doesn't do stupid shit. The game pushes you towards Emhyr only because the others are far, far worse and glosses over the fact that Emhyr, too, is not a very nice man. I mean, this is the guy who masterminded the entire plot of the Witcher 2 and now he's supposed to be the least bad of all the available options?

tl;dr:
I would have preferred a bit more ambiguity here. I know that this game, in contrast to The Witcher 2, isn't really that much about politics, but I still think it is handled too straightforward and one dimensional for "witcherverse standards".

Fucking hell, a secondary quest has glitched and will not be removed from my quest log. Highly annoying.

(minor endgame spoilers for 'Faithful Friend')

It's this quest during the White Orchard epilogue where you calm down a horse for a random soldier. I finished the quest but didn't notice that it wasn't removed from my quest log. Now I'm running around post-story, and it's blank but non-removable from the log. :(

Anyone else affected by this?

I hate quent... didn't bother from the beginning and am now a bit underpowered because I never bought any cards.

Do I have to do this casino bit of "get junior"?

You don't have to play anyone in Gwent if you don't want to during that quest, but you can if you want. You don't get any unique cards though so don't sweat it.

I just left during that decision. There was no thinking behind it, my brain just ragequit and I instinctively chose the bit of dialog to get me out of the quest fastest because it got so dumb and I did not want to be a part of it.

5 seconds after it was over I realized what I had done. My brain finished rebooting

Ah right forgot about the other way... Thank you :) Was just now fast traveling everywhere to win a few cards and would almost always lose...

How are you underpowered because of it? I haven't touched gwent (well tried it once, and didn't feel it) but have had no issues getting through any quest really.

I don't even know what the scene looks like with [Reasons of State spoilers:]
Dijkstra
succeeding. I don't want to know either. Leaving
Roche, Thaler
, and my fomer side-piece
Ves
for
Dijkstra
? GTFO here. I won't even youtube how it plays out. Complete non-starter.

Few questions

1. I killed
Keira. She wanted to give Radovid the formula for the plague!
😭 Did I dothe right thing? It was abrupt...I didnt expect to be in a kill or be killed situation.

2. Whats a good armor and weapon build for level 11?

3. Gwent is awesome. I beat the Velen innkeepers and beat the first innkeeper in Novigrad.

There was a way to make her give you the formula and for her to stay alive.

Really? I'd swear I found a sword or two that way. Maybe I'm misremembering... there are a lot of adventure points.

I dunno, I have a couple I've definitely explored and destroyed remain white afterwards - the same ones I couldn't loot, in fact.

And yeah, unreachable loot is the worst.
Trying to climb down steep cliffs to reach it... well... ( ・᷄ ︵・᷅ )

You could have avoided it had you
chosen the dialog options that are more concerned for her safety and tell her going to Radovid is a horrible idea, rather than the ones that are angry or super direct

Edit: look at it this way though. Still not the worst outcome

I think the poster is referring to being underpowered for the Gwent quest matches later in the game. If you don't win the special cards early on in White Orchard and Velen you will most likely be outmatched when you get to Novigrad, as they net you a spy card or two and a Hero card.
