Just used Axii puppet on some bandits a few moments ago and their own horses kicked them to death. While they were still sitting on the horses, somehow.

Good times.

This game sounds so epic and amazing, but I also have a history of being overwhelmed by huge worlds and losing interest. I'm hoping someone has been crazy enough to resell it to Gamestop so that I have a 7 day return policy on it, I really want to try this out. You guys are making this sound irresistible.

I think it's pretty good about not overwhelming you. There are a lot of quests that tell great self contained stories, and you rarely ever feel like you are grinding to get to the fun part.

That was my biggest issue with Dragon Age Inquisition.

Thankfully The Witcher 3 is so so sooooooooo much more detailed. Even the first world where you are has so much in it and it's not just fluff or shallow. There are nice stories and quests that will interest you.

And I'm not yet out of White Orchard yet. I hear it only gets even more detailed.

Come to think of it that's probably what makes it feel so great to me. A couple hours is always enough to make a meaningful progression through the story. Though you may not progress the main overarching plot within that time frame you won't leave empty handed either since that time can be spent fulfilling one of those self contained stories that are fleshed out fully. You never feel like you're plodding along because the ending to a story is right around the corner. Or at the least what feels like and ending, though it may always return later.

So I am almost at the end of the game and it decided that I cant climb anymore. I might have to start again from the beginning I am so pissed about this. Anyone else having this issue?

Could perhaps be the same bug someone posted about earlier:

A warning for everyone, there is a bug in the game, that you lose the ability to grab ledges.
I had to reload a couple of saves, thankfully I only lost 2 hours of progress and not the complete playthrough of the game.

So you should check every now and then if you can grab ledges or vault over fences.

So... devs... please do not put dialog heavy cutscenes in the middle of boss fights. Especially with annoying bosses. And especially when the loadtimes are already so obnoxious.

There must be another way. There just must be.

Especially when you die on Death March near the end of the fight.. and have to watch it all again aggghhh (not really a problem much, just occasionally).

I'm level 4 right now and just left the first area. I'm having a hard time trying to level up and usually get killed by random enemies in the map. Any tips?

Sidequests don't give you NEARLY as much EXP as main quests. So to level up quickly you need to do as many main quests as you want and reach a point you feel comfortable traversing the world and doing side quests.

Yeah. The entire game is the fun part.

This game essentially took the best parts of every RPG to date and rolled them into something amazing.

One of the best RPGs I've ever played. Just bar none. I prefer the Bethesda stuff because I like the discovery aspects of those games, but it is really close.

For the record, I enjoyed the first Witcher game quite a bit. The engine and mechanics were hot garbage, but great story and universe.

Witcher 2 was terrible. I played the first two hours and scrapped it. The combat made the entire experience unfun and borderline unplayable.

Witcher 3 is the product of a studio that's learned from past mistakes. As close to a flawless game as I think you can get.

Can't recommend it enough. GOTY lock.

So, random thought, I am hungry for a game/RPG set in GoT world, and I think CDPR would be the best people to do it, judging by the praise

I think a great game could be made in that world, but I also think it'd be better if its done when the series is over. I think thats one of the nice things about Witcher and even KOTOR, they are set in time periods where the devs have been given a lot of narrative liberty.

Unfortunately I found out how easy is is to run away from some mobs, then turn around and shoot them with the crossbow unmolested. They'll just stand there behind an invisible line and take it. I hate finding exploits like this. I get tempted to use them in desperate times. And after all, you've got the weapon, the mechanic is there, sniping from a distance should be a viable strategy. But when you do it it breaks the game in some circumstances. I find myself consciously avoiding using it, and that's bad design.

Still have a dead end question mark in a swamp just southwest of Crow's Perch. Anyone else get this problem? Or even know what it's supposed to lead to?

Strange... I had a question mark that wouldn't pop. I logged off in frustration and booted up the next day and it popped. Maybe you just need to get out and get back in. (makes absolutely no bloody sense but it worked for me)

PS4 digital download

Also I sent CDPR a message about the issue so maybe if more people have that issue the will patch it.

From the search results it looks like they're aware of three issues with climbing, two of which are being fixed which they hope to be in the next patch (written on the 26th). The third issue is proving more difficult, apparently.

fucking a. Seeing that massive list of bugs makes me think they'll never get to mine, which is really minor (people have similar issues with the same character and have posted about it before so maybe they'll fix that and will coincidentally fix mine)

I took a contract job a bit over my level. Killed the mark in two flurries. I'm thinking fast combat builds might be a bit OP but I ain't complaining playboy(girl).

I've done all the contracts in Velen/Novigrad up to my level (18) and I have to say I'm pretty disappointed. There were a few fun moments but I found most to be really rote and uninteresting. I think my biggest problem is that they all play out the same way: go to the area, click on the red things until you get a trail, follow the trail to the spot. Also the 'monsters' haven't been nearly as exciting to fight as the White Orchard griffin.

I was really expecting a lot more from what they promised. I think they should have been a lot more open ended and involved more planning, actual investigation and decision-making

Thanks again for the info I am glad they are working on it. Love the game just frustrated that I can't progress any further.

This. You can pick up a lot of contracts and side quests, but really they are all so well done it never feels like a chore to explore them. Additionally, there are a bunch with higher level recommendations which usually means there are just a handful to explore along the main quest line at any given time

Don't worry so much if a quest line is recommended a few levels higher. If its green you should be able to handle it and gain some good experience along the way.

Also don't forget to use your ability points to strengthen your skills and signs. Likewise craft potions, oils, etc. as your able to. You only need to craft once and meditating will refill them. Using them can greatly help in health recovery or damage output.

yeah I played in normal and near the last 1/3rd of the game I had a bunch of contracts that were greyed out and I beat easily.

is there like only five faces and hairstyles for npcs it's kind of distracting

Edit: I can't seem to find the recipe for hybrid oil. Can anyone tell me where it may be located?

Witcher contracts are what they are, work.

Side quests are much more interesting. I just wish the xp reward for them would be increased.

Yeah there seems to be an invisible border which enemies will not cross and just go back instead of following you. So you can just back off to recover, while they head back inside their little border.

Bad design indeed. No idea why the developer did this.
