The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt |OT2| Wanted to find Ciri, but everything Gwent wrong

i always wondered: if you HAPPEN to find one of the patterns without having the specific quest, does it also start you on said quest?

I tried exactly that, and unfortunately it doesn't work that way. I went and got the Enhanced Boots diagram and it didn't add anything to my quest log.

I think I've tried a couple of Blacksmiths in Novigrad, but I'll check again. Google's suggesting the Blacksmith in Midcopse, so I'll check there, too.

I love all the faces in this game. Pretty or ugly, they're full of personality and character. Altho I must say Yen, Triss and Ciri are fucking beautiful. Are they modeled after real life models? Hehe

i do believe i bought multiple letters / maps from merchants in midcopse, as this was my go-to repair/sell hub during a lot of velen quests and i kept forgetting i had already bought those maps.

i just got to
novigrad and met up with triss after helping the baron and meeting the crows.

how much of the main quest do i have left? how of the game havent i seen landmass wise?

really trying to get an idea of just how big the game is without spoiling myself
1/4 through the story, if you've only just got there

A matter of life and death quest spoiler :

Fuck it I decided to kiss Triss in the maze at the party I prefer her to Yen personally and since Witcher 1 and 2 I always went with her for romance choices
I wonder how it will affect the story guess Il find out soon enough .

Also I think I'm gonna have to do some exploring my swords are lvl 8 and 9 and I'm lvl 16 I noticed my dmg is not that great .
I did the same thing too. I haven't left Novigrad yet so
I've seen very little of Yen. Meanwhile, in the first two games I always chose Triss so a Geralt x Triss arc over the three games makes way more sense to me.
I mean, I get that Geralt and Yen are supposed to be this legendary couple but that's exactly the difference between legends and mundane life: people change, as does their environment.
(these aren't really spoilers, I'm simply erring on the side of caution)

I felt the same way, but good lord does the game try to shove
Yennifer spacing more out because spoilers
down your throat. Including a cutscene
where she kisses you after you very coldy told her to fuck right off for life.

I'm so OCD when it comes to open world games, Level 15 here and I've only done a few main quests. Trying to get rid of all the question marks in Velen. Only just got to Novigrad haha. 40 hours in as well. Jesus.

You are aware, that Sapkowski felt the need to write/rewrite an alternative ending to the books, where
Geralt and Yen get married, and Triss shags off with Mousesack?

Tfw you're lvl 5 and have schematics for kick-ass swords that require lvl 27 or 35 :/

Also, the wild at heart quest (finished)
damn, dark stuff. Is there a way to remove the curse in that quest? The bestiary hinted that there was a way, but that it required patience. Pretty fucked up that you let him kill the sister before killing him.

TFW you're able to kill a Wild Hunt general but town guards can one shot you and take forever to kill... The scaling is a mess, I understand it's because you're not supposed to fight town guards, but still, I need to spill Nilfgardian blood. And why aren't those assholes fighting the Wild Hunt? 2 town guards could take them all down.

Also, it's probably been stated a hundred times, but they really need to nerf Geralt's biggest enemies, anything that allows you to fall more than 5 feet.

Having said all this, I'm enjoying the game for the most part.

Is there a map that shows the monster levels by area? I was wondering in Velen and came across an area that had mobs with skulls, level 14; I was level 6...

I was not. I have read The Last Wish and Blood of the Elves, but nothing else yet. It's on my to-do list.

Currently polling second in Australia's federal election (first in the Gold Coast), this feral may one day be your Bogan King.
Character models in this game look so fucking good.

Fucking horse race around Novigrad.

Guys are CLEARLY cheating. Not going through gates, cutting short on fields, when not pushing me out of the track.

Add the very poor color choice for the track line you can't see in the mini map, my horse that loose stamina in straights in this race where as I have a stuff that makes him infinite stamina when I don't steer him otherwise.

Oh and I hope you have a good tv show on the side, thanks 5+ min loadings to show you a YOU FAIL cinematic + reload the game. It's faster to quit the game and reload the save from the boot menu.

OH and DID I Mentioned, the have torch to show you the way that go LEFT and RIGHT, good luck seeing if you need to go LEFT or RIGHT when you can't see shit on the mini map. CONGRATS you fail the race after 15 seconds because you can't see shit

i have never failed a single horse race ... i found them all ridiculously easy.
if you run out of stamina, just go to normal canter and block the enemy with your horse's butt while you recharge.

He wrote a couple short stories, where he details stuff he feels his early editors changed too much from how he wanted them. This is one of them.
For him, Geralt and Yen got bound by fate (over Ciri). Even if they don´t really like each other that much, and basically fight all the time they are together longer than a day - they just can´t help it. They are bound to each other. That's why he wrote the marriage short story, where they both finally give in and stop fighting their destiny.
So in short: if you accept Ciri as the child of destiny, you have to accept Geralt and Yen to be destined for each other as well.

Question about Blacksmith quest in Novigrad. (spoilers)

When I first arrived in Novigrad, the first smith I could find was actually an Elven dumpling maker who used to be a smith. He gives you a quest to help him negotiate terms with his suppliers, but it's a level 24 quest (I was level 11). Since it was so high I moved on to other things, but accidentally went back and talked to him, and he was like "hey, where were you? You didn't show up". Then Geralt tells him sorry, won't happen again. But since I'm still only level 15, it WILL happen again. I can't take on a group of level 24 thugs. How many chances does this dude give you? If I don't show this time, will he fire me? I don't want to lose him as a smith later.

Haha, haven't quite gotten that far yet. But I got one shotted by some dwarf minions when I stumbled upon the swordsmith/dumplings quest looking for a blacksmith to unload my crap swords to. Granted, that quest had a recommended lvl of 24 to my lvl of 4... Didn't even dent their health with about 5 hits.

Still, loving it.

Roughly 70 hours in. Spent 35 hours in WO. Avoided story progress as much as possible but it's inevitable. Side quests continue to impress, more so than main stories in some other games. I can already state it's the best RPG I ever laid my hands on.
Heard lots of table flipping going on in Bioware's HQ.

Looks amazing @1440p, running CineFx. Watched every piece of footage over the past few years yet very few "I have seen this before" moments in the game. Epic in every aspect.

This all seems to makes sense, considering. Not that I mind or anything, I think it lead to one of the best moments in the game and they still wrote
the Triss path very
, very well. But I still sort of feel like the
Triss path is the non-canon, fanfic version of the game. (I still choose it because after 3 games with her, how could I not?).

It most likely is the spirit of the mother of the three crones. The mother created the crones as her daughters to serve her. After a while she went mad and lured villagers into the swamps and killed them. Her daughters killed her, buried her and her soul became trapped in the oak.

Interesting theory. I think they are all related in some way, at least in the english VO all the voices are using welsh accents which don't appear to have been used anywhere else in the game.

Anyone know roughly how much XP less you get for playing on Death March?

Edit: If there is any, I recall reading about it.

I know there's no difference as far as quests are concerned, but there might be with monster exp (which give barely exp either way). Not sure though, they may just all be the same. Death March just takes longer because of extra HP/armor on enemies.

Cool, good to hear on the quest side. I enjoy the higher difficulty but I don't want to be artificially held back via reduced quest XP gains.

I actually switched to Death March because I wanted to slow down my exp gain and thought it would lol. Unfortunate for me I guess

So it's correct to say that beating mosnters too high of a rank to you won't give much XP? I know the other night I killed a level 30 Vampire when I was rank 13 and only got 22 XP.

You´re a Witcher - you kill monsters for money, not experience! ;-)

You mean level? Monsters don't give you much experience in Witcher 3 at all, no matter their level.

I wish the experience gains were more consistent. Got to Novigraad and jumped up 3 levels by doing the basic story quests. That's just too much too soon. The enemies are still level 10-12 and now I'm 15. (playing on hard)

Think I got that glitch someone was mentioning. I'm near the end of the game and
Triss
won't speak to me anymore. Just constantly says "Well?". Hope I don't miss anything because of it.

I mean the quest/contract. It was a level 30 and the Vampire had ??? so it was way above my level. I managed to kill and upon the whole contract being complete I only got 22 XP.

Other contracts where I killed a beast that were close to my level say like 17 gave me at least 10x more XP.

I'm sure I read here or Reddit that contracts too high won't reward you well even if they are harder to do. Better waiting until you are at that level before doing it for best rewards and XP.

That's an interesting perspective and it makes a lot more sense.

It's also pretty interesting that the game would choose to give you a bit of agency in that regard - as I said, the alternative totally makes sense in a pure Witcher 1-3 context.

I'll see how this plays out as I am not that far in the story anyway.

FYI, his name is a Kill Bill reference. I don't think I've seen anyone get this yet (but obviously lots of people will).
