If someone had told me the enemies health bar glow red as indicating they are about to hit Geralt combat would have clicked way sooner lol, fights instantly became way more fun and engaging when I can parry, counter and dodge like I am in control. :) love it.

I refuse to believe they won't eventually release it digitally lol

They did. It was free for preorders at least. Not sure how it works on Steam but it's a part of the extras on the GOG version. Includes both MP3 and FLAC files.

Man, Novigrad is just way too big for me. I love the fact that they built a city so huge that still feels so alive and organic, but I can't deal with how large it is. It's my next big area to really go through and I'm putting it off because there just aren't enough hours after work to do it all in one go, it's going to take so many hours to systematically go through every alley and check every door... Time to "work from home" tomorrow!

I'm so impressed with the layout and design of Novigrad. I found it overwhelming when I first entered but after learning the layout a bit I can navigate to each district and location pretty easily without the map.

I wish the experience gains were more consistent. Got to Novigraad and jumped up 3 levels by doing the basic story quests. That's just too much too soon. The enemies are still level 10-12 and now I'm 15. (playing on hard)

Yeah I'm a bit annoyed at how quickly you level up too. Playing on hard as well and I feel like I'm never going to have any challenge in the game going forward since I am perpetually over leveled at this point.

So it's correct to say that beating mosnters too high of a rank to you won't give much XP? I know the other night I killed a level 30 Vampire when I was rank 13 and only got 22 XP.

Monsters don't give any/much exp at all, unless you're doing a Witcher Contract, in which case it's a high-paying quest rather than a monster kill.

However, I've noticed that if you destroy a Monster Nest (usually under a white question mark) you get 25xp, then a final monster will jump out of the nest. Kill this monster, and you get 75xp. That's a really good return as far as monster killing goes.

I reached the 'Final Preparations' string of quests last night. I just do not want it to end, but I know it's inevitable. At least I can go back and do more of my side missions even after I beat it. I have a ton left.

How is that even possible?
Did all the quests and POI's then thoroughly exlored every area I could get to. I don't think I left a door unopened. Probably would have taken half as much time on lower difficulties but even packs of wolves were tough let alone monsters. Once I leveled up and got some gear it got easier. Grinding to level up a few levels against non quest enemies took a while but it was worth it. Game did not get easier despite being higher level than I was "supposed" to be.

didnt want to use mods on my first playthrough but regaining the upgraded version of the kaer morhen armor was just a console command away

there is already a mod on nexus that makes this set upgradeable so it can continue to be viable throughout the game, bookmarked for a second run through a few years down the line

The final monster does not always appear. I have not met a single final monster with ghoul nests. With those exploding assholes, I sometimes get a devourer at the end.

Also, monster nests regenerate after a while, but dropping a bomb into them no longer gives you experience.

So is it the best open-world game on consoles yet? Has Rockstar been surpassed?

When i compare Witcher 3 to GTA 5 then both deliver a convincing world. Everything that's placed in the world feels "correct".
But where GTA 5 falls short are the side missions. Sure GTA 5 has some funny "Freaks" encounters but there are so many locations in the world where nothing takes place. In GTA5 many places are just nice scenery whereas in W3 all points of interest have some kind of quest or story.

FYI, his name is a Kill Bill reference. I don't think I've seen anyone get this yet (but obviously lots of people will).

It's been mentioned a couple of times that I've seen, but these threads move so fast that it's impossible to keep track of.

I like how most bandit camps and guarded treasure spots usually have a letter of some sort that provides context to why there's bandits or treasure there in the first place. It's slight, but man, talk about attention to detail.

There's not a chance in hell MGSV is going to have even a fraction of the content W3 does, regardless of how big or impressive the world ends up being.

No doubt. I think MGSV will be an astonishing game, but it is going to be a long time before anything touches Wild Hunt for me. I think it is without question one of the greatest games ever made.

So I have put in close to 4 1/2 hours over the last two nights and still have not hit level 4. I was level 3 already. I am getting skill points... But have no idea how to get xp.

So did I, and neither did I. 7 hours for me... I guess you're gonna get your moneys worth anyway.

Never watches Kill Bill I thought it was a simple reference to the legendary Ninja
Kill Bill has a swordsmith character that's a reference to characters in asian cinema who are a reference to the real-life person.

It's some hardcore referenception.

Has anyone worked out what the deal is with the skill that's supposed to reduce damage taken when dodging? I have it maxed so that I shouldn't take any damage but it doesn't work.

Yeah, those are great. In one such letter
the bandit leader bragged to his wife how much he's managed to steal and promised her and his kids gifts once he returns home.
It definitely manages to put "human face" on some of those meaningless minor npcs/enemies.

Some of the Baron's guards also recite the gimp dialogue from Pulp Fiction, pretty sure everyone caught that one though. Also, Hanzo Hattori was a real samurai and ninja from the 16th century, but they're probably referencing Kill Bill more than the historical figure since he's a blacksmith in the game.

Kaer Morhen spoilers:

When can I give Triss her earring back? I found it after Yen threw the bed out the window. Worried about missing the moment.

So main story quests? Not seeing very many quests. I just got to the part where I had to talk to the inn keeper about someone and the guys tried to fight me. I had an option to buy them a drink

Dude, I've done more than 60 quests and I am yet to sail to Skellige.

You'll see her later, can't miss it. But where did you find an earring?

I think it does work but it only reduces damage when you are off your feet which doesn't really help much, I think it's useless

I thought I was happy with the quality of the graphics in the PS4 version, but the PC screenshots are KILLING ME. The game looks stunning. It's overwhelming to think about the amount of work that went into this game... like how many artists worked on portions of the game that most players aren't even going to see in their playthrough? It's really mind blowing.

Just came across a
huge Ice Giant feeding some Sirens. I've then climbed to here and hearing some weird ass noises and a voice.
I'm getting the tools for Fergus then getting the fuck out.

Hope I can visit the tower in the distance.

Playing the combat tutorial took you 4 hours?

there's people in this thread that are going to literally take 900hours to complete this game.

either some are artificially inflating their playtimes or ... i don't know what. There is LITERALLY nothing you can do in WO that takes you 35 hours. not even grinding. You'd have to spend 24 hours grinding wolves.

Trust me, you don't need to brag with your thoroughness. You'll log 100-150 hours on this game easily. 35 hours in WO is simply ... implausible ;)

Had my first werewolf encounter as level 5 and couldn't get past the regen, might need to focus on upgrading or getting better weapons. Still don't fully u der stand skills e.t.c,

So, hammer, how do I read the proper Witcher books? It sounds like I may have read the old, edited versions.

I tried to check, and from what I found the newer short stories are not available in English yet.
So just read the seven "normal" books, and make mental notes of things that don´t make too much sense, like f.i. (The Last Wish spoiler)
what exactly was the third and last wish, as that's the beginning of how Geralt and Yen get bound to each other
.

Okey dokey. Thanks.

Is there any reason to explore the cave with Keira before entering the portal? Any loot?

There's 3 side-branches of that cave. One's before the way out, one's a bit of backtracking after you get that
item that clears illusions
. One's after the
golem fight
.

If that's what you were asking.
or do you mean her "
hideout
"? if so, didn't find any loot there.

I read somewhere that 1.04 patch stopped quests giving you EXP. Is this true?

I have a vague recollection of not receiving any exp when I played and don't really want to miss out on the EXP if it is.

That's weird. I just did the first "find Ciri" quest in Novigraad and then I picked up a bunch of side stuff in the town and northern area. I was getting like 10EXP for doing them. Been stuck at level 14 for 2 days, lol.

Am I the only one who thinks Triss looks a bit... odd...? She's obviously gorgeous, but I still can't shake the feeling that she looks really cartoony compared to all other characters, and I'm not only talking about the hair.

Yeah, I noticed that as well. The model doesn't look as amazing as most other people.

did a "into the woods", or something like that quest in skellige
maybe I should have listened to the old religious guy, might have ended this whole thing with a lot less dead people...although a lot more people might have died through the years trying to become hunters soooo
