Had my first werewolf encounter as level 5 and couldn't get past the regen, might need to focus on upgrading or getting better weapons. Still don't fully u der stand skills e.t.c,

Trick for the first werewolf....
When you get down into his lair, aggro him so he runs towards you, leaving his minions behind. As soona s he gets to you CHANGE SIDES with him. You, facing the way you came in and he will have his back to the cave entrance. Now, use your magic and wail away. Since you are blocking his path back into the cave, he cannot run away and heal. Just Quen the shit out of him and hit 2-3 times then dodge. He will go down.

I read somewhere that 1.04 patch stopped quests giving you EXP. Is this true?

I have a vague recollection of not receiving any exp when I played and don't really want to miss out on the EXP if it is.

No idea if that's an isolated bug or something. I have many, many hours logged after 1.04 and I've gained several levels in that time. XP gains are fine for me.

The amount of XP that you get once you start a string of story missions in Act 2 is insane. I was lvl 23 and I'm lvl 31 now. Guess I'll go and do all those contracts and sidequests before starting act 3.

Am I the only one who thinks Triss looks a bit... odd...? She's obviously gorgeous, but I still can't shake the feeling that she looks really cartoony compared to all other characters, and I'm not only talking about the hair.

Her new face model does look a bit worse than TW2 from what I remember. Something is off. Her hair color also seems way brighter too compared to TW2. Thankfully, her VO is still great.

Not true. Quests still give XP with 1.04, even non quest kills still grant you XP (kill a wolf=xp points). Maybe the amount was changed or there is a glitch with the on screen info?

Just finished up with the Baron and Geraldt kept reminding him of how important the main quest line was. The good Baron asks us to help him with a secondary quest and after accepting, Geraldt says something like: 'never hurts to get some extra coin' lol

I get that we can ultimately play this game in a sandbox, but dat sense of urgency and the whole purpose of the main quest line just got curbstomped.

Am I the only one who thinks her VO is terrible? Her and Dandelion seem completely out of place in that world just because of their lack of accents.

Just came across a
huge Ice Giant feeding some Sirens. I've then climbed to here and hearing some weird ass noises and a voice.
I'm getting the tools for Fergus then getting the fuck out.

Hope I can visit the tower in the distance.

This screen looks... weird. What settings are you playing on?

Thanks for the tips mate, I wasn't prepared for his first encounter , didn't realise what was in the cave :)

i think it too..she was way hotter in the witcher 2..something it's strange with her eyes..but i think both main females have eyes a bit too big for their faces..almost "animey"..but triss is especially guilty of that..especially with the hood on

The Baron side quest is one of the best side quests, if not THE best that I have ever played. This is my first Witcher game, so I can't compare to the other two but from the voice acting, graphics, story line, dialogue and enemies I encounter it is hands down the best. I am flabbergasted that a team of 100 was able to make this game so detailed, full of secrets, beauty and well written quests. Such a testament to those who have great talent and passion for their craft. I honestly don't think I will ever buy or play a Ubisoft open world again. This game has spoiled most open world games for me forever.

Skillege is deceptively pretty massive when you factor in the three big islands surrounding the main island, all the tiny satellite islands, and the fact that the seas in the region are quite dense with things to discover. Spent a good bit of time just treasure hunting already.

There's not a chance in hell MGSV is going to have even a fraction of the content W3 does, regardless of how big or impressive the world ends up being.

In terms of the size of the world, no, absolutely not. TW3 will almost certainly be bigger.

In terms of the amount of content? Don't hedge your bets so early. It looks like MGSV is going to have the same mission structure as Peace Walker – in which there were only 30 actual levels/areas or so, but there were over 200 missions based on these areas with variations on enemy placement, layout and objective.

If TPP already has a massive open world (I'd imagine it may be the size of Velen or a bit smaller), yet it has a list of missions as long as the Bayeux Tapestry, then it might well give 100+ hours of gameplay.

The final monster does not always appear. I have not met a single final monster with ghoul nests. With those exploding assholes, I sometimes get a devourer at the end.

Also, monster nests regenerate after a while, but dropping a bomb into them no longer gives you experience.

That's crazy. I've only blown up three Ghoul nests and every time a daddy ghoul came out and I got 75xp for killing him.

Holdover from the past games, imo. Gotta be consistent! Geralt doesn't have an accent either.

It's weird, I think that her model is the only one where the facial animations don't really match the voice very well. It is a weird kind of mellow voice but it fits once you assume that it's a voice of someone who has been enduring the witch hunt and is yet an optimist at heart, though the facial animations just don't convey that very well.

I don't really have a problem with Dandelion's VA.

Question about the quest in Novigrad where you
confront Menge with Triss.
/
Is there an alternate outcome other than slaughtering the entire camp? I went up in there talking shit and started a fight, killing everyone including Menge. But I chose dialogue that was obviously antagonizing the guard.

I hear ya. I really want to do the side quest, just thought the contrast with the urgency of the main quest was a bit too jarring in this exchange.

It makes me wonder if there could actually be some divergence from the main quest line if I take the Baron up on his offer.

Absolutely. The area is huge. I still have a ton to do there.

Pro tip: Bleeding stops healing, no matter the monster, abuse it!

Finished the quest where
you have to put on a farce to get Dudu to come out of hiding. It was fantastic, would love to see more of it in the game. Was a tiny bit disappointed that you couldn't completely fuck up the play like on the date with Aeris in Final Fantasy 7

Could someone please get two pics of Triss, one from TW2 and one from TW3, and paste them side by side?

Basically Triss looks really different in Wild Hunt. In TW2 she looked remarkably real and natural. Had very believable, full cheeks and eyes. Perfect body proportions. In TW3, I don't know why, but CDPR have made all of her features harder and smaller. She doesn't look good. As others said, like an anime character.

So did I, and neither did I. 7 hours for me... I guess you're gonna get your moneys worth anyway.

Kill Bill has a swordsmith character that's a reference to characters in asian cinema who are a reference to the real-life person.

It's some hardcore referenception.

Holy shieet

Never watched Kill Bill I thought it was a simple reference to the legendary Ninja

I had no idea about the samurai! But it's probably Kill Bill – Hattori Hanso in KB Vol. 1 is a swordsmith who retired to make sushi I think. But The Bride comes in and makes him mend his ways ;)

I didn't really mean best open world, but best game with open world structure. :p

Oh, now that makes more sense. Yep, I don't think Wild Hunt is going to beaten for a long time in terms of open world structure.

The Phantom Pain's structure, AFAIK, is going to be more like "start in Mother Base > choose a mission > get in chopper and deploy at mission > do mission > extract to Mother Base > choose a mission > get in chopper and reploy" rinse, repeat. It's going to be very bitty and fractured. Which frankly disappoints me hugely – imo the greatness of the early MGS games was that it's a start to finish thread of adventure with no location or stylistic breaks.

But anyway. On-topic: I think MGSV will be a great open world game in terms of mission design and world interaction, but I think Wild Hunt is almost unbeatable in terms of mission structure, character structure and writing.

Am I the only one who thinks her VO is terrible? Her and Dandelion seem completely out of place in that world just because of their American accents.

- fixed for you ;P

Triss, Dandelion and Geralt are from the same place, IIRC, hence their 'American' accents. There's actual narrative justification for it. Once I got over that, I find it much easier to deal with. My gf found this really offputting, too.

I'm pretty sure the Baron's stuff is part of the main quest. There might be optional parts of it, but the bulk of it is required to advance the story.

I've been holding off on sailing over there because I certainly don't need anymore ?s on my map, but damn if it doesn't look amazing.

Same, the lvl requirement prevented me from wanting to go there earlier. Now I'm a lvl over and I'm sill holding off to complete more contracts and secondary quests first.

About a decision in Witcher 2 and if it affects anything in Witcher 3 regarding Triss...

Does choosing to
save Saskia over Triss impact their relationship in any way? Not just in Witcher 2, but in Witcher 3 as well? Is she upset about it? I guess she wouldn't know that he chose to save Saskia anyways. I know that Triss gets saved by Letho regardless of what you do, so seems like it'd be better to free Saskia. I don't know if she's in the Witcher 3 at all, though.

Played as Ciri for the first time last night, great fun and loved her VA. Looked her up realized she was female Hawke from DA...

So, the
Redania's Most Wanted
quest. I've
found Philippa's mega scope Crystal and the quest log says to tell Radovid what I've learned. But the quest text says I can give it to Radovid or one of the Sorceress allies (Triss/Yen?). I went to see Triss, but that triggered her Now or Never quest which I completed, romanced and she left for Kahr Moher. So I still have this crystal...

How do I properly give the crystal to one of the sorceress allies instead of Radovid? I still have yet to go to Skellige...

You can give the crystal to Yennefer once you go to Skellige

Lol, all the people on last page who think the Baron quest is a side-quest.

If A) it's about finding Ciri and B) it's listed as "main story" in the quest log, chances are... well.

Fuck me.
I don't know why you guys complain about loot that is below your level. I just did a quest 7 levels above mine and got a piece an armor out of it that I can'T wear for another 10 levels.
